I have never seen a spay where the incision was made on a lateral body wall only through the ventral abdomen and linea alba.....wouldnt that just make it more work to have to disect the other uterine horn and ovary out?? I would think it also puts that cat at a bigger risk of damaging the kidney when making an incision?? Thats just wierd!

Not really sammy94533....the word "neuter" covers both sexes. Male cats are castrated and female cats undergo ovario-hysterectomy but since it is a bit of a tongue twister people generally find it easier to use the word "spayed"!

Cat sterilisation is one of the best things that can happen. Especially males. They live longer and compare the ages of sterlised and non sterilised males. Also it helps to prevent unwanted kittens who get dumped if no homes are found for them. We have a severe feral cat problem in Australia and more cats getting sterilised the better. And yes I own cats (fixed)
