Michigan has a nice recycling program, we however take all mixed trash from Indiana and Canada... This really pisses me off after all the time people spend to sort, all the money spent to set up the separate bins, education and all then they just landfill it all anyways!
That reminds me of the show "She's the Sheriff" where the same garbage truck was going down the street dumping all the recycle bins into the hopper right with the trash... It was a laughing joke on the show - but leave it to America to make even that come to a reality. Pathetic! (I complement you on your comment by the way)

Either they are overloaded with recyclables (I know one collector here that told me this has happened to them), find it cheaper in the long run to so it all in one pass or they are just plain lazy.
All I know is that I am noticing this more and more and have followed them all the way to the dump a couple times now just to prove it to myself.

And at least where I live, they have a 'ban' on putting such things as cardboard boxes in the regular garbage cans, under penalty of getting a fine.
Kind of pisses me off that I KNOW better, and yet I could get fined for putting a square peg in a round hole.
And yes, folks, I do know that most of it gets recycled; I'm just focusing in on a small part of the picture that I have seen while on the job.
