This is easily the best tv drama ever. I spend a whole weekend watching the complete 1st season because I just couldn't stop. The story takes you right in.
I think the Killing US version is pretty good, but after I saw 8 episodes I realised I HAD TO WATCH original version...mmmh...WONDERFUL TV DRAMA, I think best TV series after Lost. And this theme of course now is my ring tone.
How come the Danes can do something this good and where the hell did such wonderful actresses and actors come from. Bloody hell - King Alphred the Great drove them out of Wessex so why didn't he grab the actor ancestors when he chased the bastards into the sea and back to Danemark.
Best program I've ever watched. The American version makes me so angry though, cos of course its so much easier to remake the whole thing exactly the same than to just read the freakin' sub titles. Fools. Loved Season 2 and can't wait for the next one
Danish version is far better than the American . Watched 2 minutes of American then turned it off in disgust . Looking forward to series 3 ,Danish of course . The music crescendo was such a hit it blew my mind away .Love it! x
I totally agree! Forbrydelsen is just fantastic!Each and every detail of it is great! i don't even think of watchin american version! It's obvious that it won't stand even close to this one!!!!! For me Scandinavian movie industry is very strong!!!!!

Does someone knows when is season II going to be aired on the BBC? I can not find decent english subtitles on the internet. I just finish seeing the first ep. of the second season but I'm not sure if I want to go ahead with the subtitles available.

At the end of each episode this music would come in quietly under a montage of the main characters involvement in the plot, building to a crescendo at end credits. It made the hair stand up on my neck every time! Anyone know whether this is available as an audio download?

@msjeopardy24 The writer and producer was involved in the American version. It's pretty different. Veena Sud who created the original Danish series wrote the pilot for the American series. I'm watching them back to back almost and they may have a similar thread but they are completely different. I do prefer the Danish one but I'm biased, I'm Scottish. I can't wait to have enough money to get to Denmark.

Hurrah! Nice to be able to listen to the music without some BBC announcer chiming in with "Tune in next week.........." lol. All credit to BBC4 though for bringing this great series and others to us in the UK. Unbelieveable to think BBC4 may be cut! It's the only channel with any quality.

WHY THE HELL IS SEASON 2 BASED OFF OF TERRORISTS??? No one wants to watch a Mystery about an entire War!!! I want there to be 1 simple death not an entire war. It ruins Season 2. I REALLY HOPE Veena Sud changes the US's version of Season 2 of The Killing.
@11poketrainer Season 2 has nothing to do with terrorist. It is about 1 murder, as the first season. But some of the suspects are soldiers in the danish army.
Thanks for posting this music. It is amazing. I do wish people would not bash America for doing their own version of this wonderful show. I think it is a complement, and you should too. To those who say we Americans do not have our own ideas, please see Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, True Blood, Dexter, and a myriad of other truly American shows that are absolutely fantastic. Yes, many Americans watch stupid inane garbage, but most truly want good TV shows with good actors.

The main character is fine - she's not trying to play Linden from the Danish version. But the parents, Richmond - they are like caricatures of the original characters.
@rivanool Actually, by US standards anyway, "The Killing" is the most sophisticated television to be aired in many, many years. It does lack some of the nuance of the Danish original, but the English dialogue is excellent, faithful to the original but with many subtle and effective cultural parallels in the translation.
@milnoid : LOL. Go watch Breaking Bad or The Wire to see a show better than the American Killing. The American Killing was decent, but nowhere near as good as the shows I mentioned.
@Notebookwriter1 Yes, maybe I overstated. Breaking Bad in particular is brilliantly conceived and has had some phenomenal moments (turtle in the desert, pilgrims crawling to the saint of assassins). No cultural translation required. The US Killing, alas, has displayed some lethargic performances recently that compare unfavourably with the Danish version. Still, it's surprisingly good television. So too, by the way, is Game of Thrones. Even "Justified" surprised me with some fine acting.

Brilliant show. Can't wait for the second series to air in the UK. Magnificent ensemble acting with the intensely compelling Lund at the centre of it all. Bak's theme was great too.
It should have been aired on BBC2 instead of being tucked away on a minor channel I'm sure Forbrydelsen. would have broken the record in ratings for BBC2 Brilliant drama all the way through its 20 glorious episodes

The only television series that has altered my schedule in that I have not been out on a Saturday night since BBC4 has started showing it. Superb drama!
