  • this house is ugly from the outside I can find a even bigger one for around 300,000 where I live and around the same year except it's not 2 acres

  • Isn't that the hous from paranormal activity.?

  • u know if you go in that door you passed up {just like the stop sign}, that is the front door, it leads into the living room kitchen but that is too weird both doors are still hidden.

  • 5 stars for jim running a stop sign! posted to public and no convictions.

  • u forgot to stop

  • Who in their right mind would put the door there?

  • might've seen this on the cover of Curb Appeal magazine - lol, very nice

  • how could the jump into a home in the 900,000's and then not have enough money for food? think abt whats goonna happen in the future nomatter if u can or cant afford it. best of luck to the ex-homeowners!

  • Wow, they bought a million dollar home and they couldn't feed the kids. What the hell were they thinking? I wonder what wonderful greedy bank approved them for the original loan.

  • Jim, you could be convicted of running a stop sign with this tape.

  • I can't feel sorry for that family. Nearly a one million dollar purchase, yet they have trouble feeding their kids? People are so irresponsible.

  • 575K for that in this economy and real estate market is overpriced..4400 SQ or not..

knock another 15% off and I would begin to think about it

  • @scotters201 my house is worth 600k and it's smaller than that... by a lot... I guess it's because I live on Long Island -.- so expensive here...

  • people really ought to be embarrassed to have that many kids these days whether they THINK they can afford it or not. we truly are basic animals who's singular desire is to pass our dna onto the future as much as possible. I am happy enough to let my dna die with me.

  • Jim, your delivery is awesome. Someone needs to give you your own show on cable.

This video is funny at first, but as you continue through the tour, you're explanation of the situation left me sad. Sign of the time, unfortunately. Anyhoo, enjoyed this one, too. Beautiful area. The home is HUGE, but a bit awkward.

  • nice house i love the land around it you can build SOOMUCH!!

  • what's that pot? i don't think the kettle can hear you.

  • does everyone remember when people would say, "ZOMG YOU GOT STAINLESS!". Now you got Jim rollin through sayin "typical stainless". luv it.

  • A lot of it makes sense, but you still act as if OBVIOUSLY they could have afforded it at $600K in the long run, despite the most brutal recession since the 30s.

maybe yes, I don't know, but let me tell you something, on the current job market too many people just can't get a job or a decent job.

You just can't blame them all for taking risks and living without a crystal ball...

"I can get you a 10 bedroom mansion for that where I grew up"

I bet there aren't too many opportunities tho

  • > you still act as if OBVIOUSLY they could

    > have afforded it

I'm acting as though it's OBVIOUS that housing in parts of California are in Bubble Mania land.

    > on the current job market too many people

    > just can't get a job or a decent job.

Prices are driven by demand. Reduce demand, and you drive down prices.

Reduce demand by having people unwilling to pay, or by having people UNABLE to pay.

    Take your pick.

  • Or Pick This: Huge Corporate Banks create demand by endlessly advertising and lending out easy money and then reselling those loans to Wall Street...and then you and I bailout Wall Street.

Ask yourself who had the power in the transaction; the family man or the huge corporate lender?

  • > Wall Street...and then you and I bailout Wall

    > Street.

    > Ask yourself who had the power in the

    > transaction; the family man or the huge

    > corporate lender?

    Neither.

    The government does.

Do you know what the economic system of FASCISM is? Go find out. That's our economic system now.

  • What was our economic system when the buyer of this overpriced mess was given a loan?

Who had the power to approve or deny the loan?

  • > What was our economic system when the buyer

    > of this overpriced mess was given a loan?

    Fascism, of course.

    > Who had the power to approve or deny the

    > loan?

    The person selling the loan.

It's quite simple. You allow the IDIOT that took out the loan to default on it, and the MORON for giving out the loan to lose their capital.

But in a FASCIST system, you STEAL taxpayer money so that the borrower defaults, and the MORON that loaned the money gets their money back anyhow.

  • So you're saying that the USA has always been a fascist state? I don't think so asshole.

  • > So you're saying that the USA has always been

    > a fascist state? I don't think so asshole.

No, I'm not saying the United States has always been a fascist state.

I'm saying it's been a fascist state for about 20 years now or so, starting with the Savings and Loan Scandal when the US government protected criminals like Niel Bush from prosecution of that theft.

  • Talking about falling from grace - you buy a million dollar McMansion and a couple of years later you absolutely broke. Boy is this video a sign of the times.

  • What kind of bastard parents stretch themselves so thin to have a status symbol McMansion that when things fall apart, their FIVE kids are starving?

Stupid and evil people are out reproducing the rest of the population. Not good times ahead.

  • Give 'em some credit - they had 5 kids; that 7 people for 4,400 sq. ft. That's just 630 sq. ft. per person. The average American family has 3 persons and lives in a 1,800 sq. ft. home, that 600 sq. ft. per person. With 7 people in it this family wasn't living a life of luxury here.

  • > Give 'em some credit - they had 5 kids; that

    > 7 people for 4,400 sq. ft. That's just 630

    > sq. ft. per person.

So, I'm supposed to feel sorry for these dirtbags for having kids they can't afford?

I don't believe you should be pumping out kids you can't afford to clothe, feed, and educate. Call me nuts if you will!

  • Yes, you should feel sorry for them. People don't pump out kids - life is more complicated than that, and calling people "dirtbags" is seldom an accurate statement. The truth is usually far more nuanced.

  • > Yes, you should feel sorry for them. People

    > don't pump out kids - life is more

    > complicated than that,

    Describe precisely how.

    > and calling people "dirtbags" is seldom an

    > accurate statement.

    It is here.

    > The truth is usually far more nuanced.

The truth is that these people were greedy and stupid, and will pass along their ideals as well as their genes to their 5 destitute children.

  • Sounds like someone already gave them some credit--without ascertaining whether they deserved it.

Bad judgment. Two acres? Granite kitchen, etc? Not exactly necessities. First priority should have been putting a roof over the kids' heads, not over-reaching. It's a house, not a retirement investment or ATM machine. Buy LESS house than you can afford. Save money every month. Pay down the mortgage.

I was given this very advice in 1998, and I followed it. Thank GOD!

  • This house should be positioned deeper into the 2 acre property, luckily I have a bulldozer to complete the job!

  • no one wants 4400+ sq ft anymore - too much work!

  • feel sorry for the poor family, but the fact that someone once paid over 900 for that ugly behemoth is a testament to how delusional we were a few years ago. Still overpriced at 579 in today's new crashing market--pop up McMansions like this one are gonna keep dropping price for yet a couple more years.

  • A monstrous museum to the mindless American consumerism.

  • That's one poorly planned house layout. This isn't going to get more than $100k to $200k.

  • 2 acres, yet they can't figure out how to place the house properly on the lot. Wow. Better invest in some fast-growing shrubs to cover those ac compressors!

  • Craptacular. Makes a double wide in the woods of Wisconsin look nice.
