Yes; mediums for fame have widened greatly, however Boyle hasn't taken advantage of anything modern AKA the 'net, instead she reached fame through a pre existing invention available as she was then; Television. Reality TV existed long before the 80's and talent shows like Eurovision and many copycat shows were popular. She had the same opportunities then as she does now, just one thing has changed: her face.

She´s not bad looking at all here. The hairstyle was awful but then again it was the 80´s. The eyebrows were thick but then again it was the 80´s. ( Madonna had twice as thick eyebrows) .

@Doyalikemysmile Actually, I think she did have a career running for her, but she broke down or something and didn't sing for a long time, but then went on Britain's Got Talent after many years. The story that everyone seems to go with is that she wasn't discovered until a few years ago, but it was because she was mentally unstable or something. Don't take that the wrong way, I think she's amazing and everything, but she's had breakdowns before, and it's effected her career. I may have it wrong.

@Javelinagi From what i understand is f that she had a breakdown while making Britain's got Talent. She may have breakdowns years ago, but she had a Breakdown while she was involved in BGT. she ended up in the Priory, but did end up getting second place.
