I have managed to export a master to my computer but only when the 'In' is at 0:00:00. Basically what I have is over an hour of recorded riffs but on one continuous track. I set the 'In' at 58min and the 'out' at 59min but when I try to record the master of that section it just starts recording at 0:00:00. It's really pissing me off that I can't get this tiny 1 minute section onto my computer without basically recording a master of the entire hour's worth of recording on the card. WTF?!
This was not too helpful. I'm tryin to fig out how to loop tracks sliced out of a track on dp004 but no luck yet without exporting first. Any ideas?! Is it even possible? I play guitar, but want solid studio chord progression. After playing for four or five minutes, I seem to have some measures sounding "off" from the original start up, or what i wanted. Any help would be great.
I've recorded music the way you did it, but I used the intern microphones. The problem is that when I listen to the file on my computer it's not loud enough. Does anybody know what I've done wrong?
Once it's on the computer it's a .001 file and won't open with conventional media players or iTunes. Do I have to convert the file once on the computer to play it?
Could you pleaseee make a video on how to import your tracks to the computer? I tried and when I did it, the screen on the recorder just said usb mode and the songs on the computer weren't in sync
Hey man can you record 2 different things from 2 mics and then put em in one track. Such as one mic for overall drum kit and one for bass drum or snare etc?
Put a Amp in a closet, a mic also. Plug in your guitar to amp Record live guitar into porta. Don't use digital stuff, go Woodstock. Mix as you go. Take it from a simple Dinosouar.. Your Welcome!!
Also....what sthe point of teh USB?? cant upload or download using it so ....whats the reason for it? or am i missing something. Maybe if i could download using the usb my recording wouldnt sound all wabbly & screwey and weak.
I recorded 3 tracks ....rough draft so to speak. Uploaded/mixed onto computer, Turned out awesome.Very satisfied with the mix ....Yet when i went to send it BACK to the tascam on a single track, it recorded it terribly. very warbly & highs fading in and out, very weak, low quality, bad. Anybody know why this would happen?? aAny advice on this would really really be appreciated ?
How do you delete the mastered files that are on the FAT Partition? Do you even need to do that? I've heard you can quickly use up your space with songs.
Im trying to record from computer using the tiny input jack, and if i turn it up loud enough to register ,it either makes the red light come on,so i turn it down, then it is barely audiable on playback. Plays real faint & weak. I set it on GUITAR/LINE H ...what am i doing wrong?? anyone??
Hello. I'm not home right now, so I'll have to answer these questions off the top of my head.
The Tascam stores stuff in uncompressed 44Khz 16-bit wav format, so can store about 3 hours of total track recording on a 1GB card. I cannot recall if the machine can handle a 2GB card,
44Khz 16 audio is about 88KB/sec, so a 5 minute song with 4 tracks would be about 88KB*300sec = 25MB.
Just got my DP-004 in the mail today! It's so pretty! Thank you for the tutorial, it's helped loads :) haven't seen anyone else plug a synth into it before but it's good to know that's possible because that's what I'm gunning to do. What synth do you use, out of interest? And just so you know...that little line you did in the tutorial....very disrespectful >:(
Hey great tutorial. Could I play and record at the same time? What I mean is could I load a wav file into it which is a backing track, then listen to the track while I play and record a guitar track alongside that one, via amp/mic? I would listen through headphones. Could I do this?
@theedge269 First you would convert your backing track on your computer to a wav file. Then connect the DP-004 via USB and navigate to the wave directory on it. Drag your backing track wav into the directory. Disconnect the USB. Go to the wave menu on the DP-004 and select 'import.' This will import it into a song as a track, the same as if you had recorded it. Then you can listen to it and record at the same time.
i don't understand this thing. i hit record i do my thing, then i go to play it back.. DRUM ROLL PLEASE.. nothing.. i just hear the metronome!? how do i record???
@MrEvilBacon Have you armed the track? each track has an arm button that needs to be pressed and you get a flashing red light per armed track. If this doesn't help, check your input setting to make sure you have it set to what you are using. Hope this helps
@UnknownCategory Did you try a D.I. box so you can split the signal? Record your amp with the pedal by microphone, then plug the clean guitar into the other track and BAM nice fat sound.
Thanks for the demo. I play synthesizers (badly). I make drones and ambient music (think Steve Roach sans talent). Also futz around with my circuit bent toys..but I digress. I have no experience at all using a daw so I figured there has to be a easier way. I'm seriously going to consider getting this DP004 soon. Then I can annoy people via .wav or .mp3. ;)
@UnknownCategory You should be able to run the amp's headphone jack to your inputs, although you'd have to be careful about the levels and clipping. I'd check your cabling. If you can't get that to work, putting a microphone up to the amp is the standard practice.
