  • this is about the 5th amazing bowie cover ive favorited on youtube. he never ceases to amaze me, how he can turn a great influence into something completely his own, like he did with this song and queen bitch from hunky dory

  • david bowie and lou reed....so :)))))

  • What the fuck did he do to the lyrics?!

  • Bowies versions are all ace, but to me, nothing compares to the live Lou Reed version done with Prakash John and Danny Weiss. That rocks a fat one, just as this does in its own way.

  • Funny how age seems to affect some so dramatically, while others such as Reed and Bowie seem to hold up rather well.

  • great song,great show,fuckin' great musicians

  • Wow! Seriosly, this is The best live version of a song i've ever heard!! Sveriges Fyra :)

  • I just love it when that man dances

  • It would've been nice if he let Lou sing it with him. I mean after all it is The Velvet Underground's song.

  • WOW. I love this version!!!! Bowie's delivery is great...

  • Great! I loved it very much!!! Long Live Velvet Underground!>

  • L O V E T O E P I C I N F I N I T Y O M G :D

  • Two of my favourite singers, singing a song that also has the name of a favourite band of mine in the title= :)

  • Total TIN MACHINE guitar!.....

  • gawd damn! gimme some volume, this rocks!

  • it is nice to see someone take a song seiously.... i mean someone besides Iggy Pop

  • David Bowie is amazing. He doesnt move from that one spot on the stage (save for the solo), yet he fucking commands that stage. That man is charisma incarnate. Combine that with Lou Reed's amazing guitar playing and you have pure win. Awesome.

  • ooo this is nice! i thought they werent friends cause lou punched bowie in the face back in the day...glad i found this! <3

  • What year is this?

  • @JrFLYnnIV This is from Bowies 50th birthday, New York 1997.

  • 98

  • God of music

  • kjempekul låt!

  • Amazing

  • Any guitar players out there know what the lead player is using for effects? It's quite a balls out crazy sound...love it!

  • it`s like vu meets stadion rock...

  • This recording.... is Totally BADASS! I love it. Whip it, whip it harder.

  • Gail Ann Dorsey's on bass, playing a Music Man StingRay 5.

  • Strepitoso

  • I don't see how his 90s era goes largely unscrutinized, it was even worse than his 80s era imo

  • Bowie makes Reed look like his water boy

  • @MrLeagueOJustice haha in Bowie's dreams he worshiped Reed in the 60's

  • This is far too clean. Turn the gain way, waaaaay up.

  • lou on the bass rocking his ass off lol

  • @toxic1632

Lou reed is not playing bass!

  • white ego

  • Trent holds his mic the exact same way.

  • i'm jst pissed off that Lou didn't do something to stop this massacre. I love Bowie to bits, though he should have stayed in Berlin, hasn't made records as good since.

  • What a great version, performance and showmanship.

As usual children posting crap criticism when they do not know shit! Screw you asshole. Bowie Rocks!

  • fuck you. its a bad cover. theres nothing good about it excpet lou reed.

  • what a bad ciover. bowies red hair stage was shit

  • @heathshoegaze go fuck yaself.......this is great

  • Ha this performance was good. Reed just bobbing there with hid guitra watching Bowie sing his song, I must say, Bowie definitely OWNS the stage here! And ha, I love how he breathes into the microphone at the end.

  • Comment removed

  • Reed, Bowie, Iggy Pop New York Dolls just brought so much to New York in the 70's

  • And the Ramones

  • why? why? do i listen to this song? i listen to this song over, and over, and over. i mean, i have never listened to one song so much. i just like it. I really like it. I like the song! I am from Detroit, and I am going to kick your ass.

  • @teden20 yeah it's pretty cool

  • Love the guitar solo! Now where the hell can I get that effect?!!

  • this is too fucking good.

  • top song...check my vids out for "Lou Reed - perfect day (animated)"...

  • lou is like-what the fuck?

  • What effect is that guitarist using? It's fucking nuts!

  • Greatness!

  • Bowie is a cover genius, this isn´t the first version he does of this song, besides this is a totally bowiesk version of it. Bowie rocks.

  • ROCK !!!

  • i think that if i was on that show. i would died

  • thii is a test

  • !?!??! I've been Rick Rolled ?!?!?!?!

  • This is the greatest cover of WL WH and is one of the best rock music tracks of all time.

  • Theres noting better than 2 legends playing together for the sheer enjoyment of doing it, this is the quintessinal Bowie/Reed song, and they are both looking great

  • eles tocavam o horror

  • Wow, that's so cool, Lou Reed doesn't sing a line! =_=

  • awesomeee! :D

  • Anything touched by Bowie and Lou Reed is nothing less that pure gold.

I just wish the audio on this clip was stronger/louder.

I agree that this is some of rock 'n roll's best.

    Listen to that guitar!

  • couldn't agree with you more

  • @SatanicMajesty Totally right Dude, this Song it's epic!!!....Long Life to Lou & Bowie!!

  • @neto4346 Hi! Thanks for the comment, but I'm actually a chick. A pretty good lookin' one, if I don't say so myself. LOL!

  • @SatanicMajesty ha okok!! but it's an Great comment!! "Anything touched by Bowie and Lou Reed is nothing less that pure gold.!!!! (but dont' forget iggy!!)

  • @neto4346 I could never forget Iggy! I have a playlist of Iggy Pop/The Stooges that I've been working on and you prompted me to put an Iggy tune on my player!

  • @SatanicMajesty Nice Music Taste chick !! =D , So, you like proto & glam!! ... what about new york dolls??

  • @SatanicMajesty Not to burst your bubble, but what about Tim Machine and Metal Machine Music?

  • @SatanicMajesty Yes!!!!!!!! Bowie adds pure magic to all the other people's music he's been involved with. Even if it's backing vocals , he steals the show often!!!! His influence can't be overestimated!!!!!!!!!

  • @SatanicMajesty Yes, Majesty,I listen ,that 'THIN" guitar sounds lousy. One of the worst boring backing bands,he kept on his payroll for too bloody long. Wished he began 'to see the light' again.

  • @SatanicMajesty Kick ass indeed. That bass is driving, too!

  • Rock n roll !-tremendous stuff.

  • Micidiale !

  • Agree with others that Mick Ronson's cover of this on 'Play Don't Worry' is amazing. That guitar .....!!!!!!!

  • Mick Ronson was one of the best guitar players of all time!

  • Wow, that's so cool, Lou Reed doesn't sing a line! =_=

  • dig this sound. rather tame here but some noble for 2 grandrockers

  • THE GREATEST DUO EVER

  • Best cover version EVER is Mick Ronson's from the album "Play, Don't Worry". Originally recorded for Bowie, with The Spiders From Mars with Mike Garson, Ronno and Garson really rip it up. Don't understand why DB passed, but Ronno's singing is fine.

This video was "interesting", rather than great...

  • fuck yeah ronsons version does kick ass

  • bowie is more than jagger i think

  • You wantched a David Bowie video to complain it was "Bowie-esque"?

    Okaydoke.

  • I agree that it's not as good as the original. It's not bad, though.

  • havent you got anything better to do than watch vids you dont like?

    Sad twat.

  • could not agree more! Would not bee too happy if I were lou!

  • This is just great-watching these two old dame's rock is nothing short of sensational.Yet another version from Bowie-it most be in his top 10 fav songs.

  • A superb live perfomance.

    Ttfn

  • is david doing some playback?

  • Not one bit.

  • David is sssssssoooooooo sexy!!!!!!!!!! <3 <3

  • Best ever version of this song is on Velvet Underground "Live 1969" album.....go see for yourself. That album is a motherfucker....

  • I love this song even the name WL/WH is cool.

  • yea man dont make rockers like d used ta

  • ummm....the parts with Bowie heavy breathing....whoa yeah momma....!!!! MY GAWD THIS IS AMAZING FOOTAGE!!!!

  • yep.. couldn't agree more....:P

  • Oh my god...Marry me!

  • ok.

  • Huh! :)

  • Help! :)

  • ok.

  • Huh! :)

  • Help! :(

  • awsome! I see this is from channel 4 in Swedish TV! :D

  • btw. they should release this concert on DVD!

  • blinding version by bowie's best (recent) band - does gail ann dorsey still make solo records?

  • Well I think it is awesome. The bass is played brilliantly, Lou is awesome with his screeching work and Bowie, well he is fucking Bowie for Christ sake.

  • This is the greatest cover of WL WH and is one of the best rock music tracks of all time.

  • Compared to the original, any cover is doomed to look poor... this one's not bad but definitively not as good as the Velvet one.

  • You´re in fact wrong since I think it is brilliant.

  • my faveourite soloistt is bowie and my faveourite band are the velvet underground. this is terrible.

  • Y do u say that?

  • I'm sad to admit i agree. Love Bowie, love Reed, this however just doesn't seem at all right. Bowie does a good cover on BBC sessions though.

  • I agree as well. I don't know it kinda sounds too 80's or something..

I love bowie and the VU but this one doesnt sound that good..

  • i agree. they were trying to adapt it to the whole drum'n'bass sound he had going at the time. even some of Lou's live renditions don't do it justice. the original is just so fuckin raw, nothing beats it.
