I've always liked this version. That line: 'With those windshield wipers slapping time, and Bobby clapping hands, we finally sung up every song that driver knew' - has a wonderful rhythm and rhyme (especially 'time' with 'fin....') and flow. Wish I'd written a line like that! Well done KK.

BEAUTIFUL!! I'm not very keen on Gordon Lightfoot but I fell in love with his rendition - it's a gem. It has all the right sadness Janis lacked in her recording. After hearing this now I wonder whether she even understood the song.

Gordon Lightfoot was my all time favourite singer/ songwriter at a time when there were so many great talents. I've listened to several versions of this and to me this is still the BEST. Great to know, too, that Gordon is still singing and honoured in his native Canada. An awesome talent!

This is a pretty good cover of an excellent Kris Kristofferson song. Janis Joplin screamed her way through it in a deep haze - in much the same way she did everything else. My favourite version of this was sung by Charlie Pride.
