  • Obviously one of the best guitarist and singers in Australia such a great musician, i was lucky enough to meet him in 2005 and as well as being a great musician he was also a very nice person. Keep on rocking Kev!

  • Excellent, the 1st LP I ever bought, stoked to find it on here !!!

  • @twirctv thank you and no worries... i'm only too happy to hear from somebody involved... are you able to identify the venue and year this was shot.... i'm oly guessing it's 1979.

  • still remember back in the '80's kevin, cyril b bunter and chain playin' the old sefton hotel in sydney...

  • Noz Thanx .. Slidddde!! Yeahh

  • Song first came out late 70s not 73??

    Great to see :)

  • Australia's Jimmy Page

  • @MrUrsi05 he's from new zealand

  • @nzoz1979 Wooops, sorry, you know, i didn't know that. anyway, we claim any good kiwi artists as our own, you know that hehe... but point taken

  • yeah that's him, he teaches music now i think.

  • I REMEMBER THAT ANT T-SHIRT. JOHN WATSON ON DRUMS AND TIM PARTRIDGE ON BASS.

    GREAT TIMES

  • Hey KEV!... gotta go down town with ya!.... you make my head spin when im off my face! STONED all OVER

  • good stuff

  • Ohhhhhh yeah he can go down on me..................the way his fingers play that guitar and make it talk just makes me go oooooooooooooooooooooooh yeah

  • brings back memories seein' borich supporting chain and george thorogood ay the sefton hotel early eighties, those were the days, heaps of cones and beers, then party and groove to this lot of muso's............yewwwwwwwwwww

  • @beetle1835 Ohhh Yeah .Ivé been to the Sefton in those days too .. Don't know whether i would go there now .. If you get my drift .

  • He played for free sponsored gigs at the checkers? club in Sydney round 78/79. I knew I was before rock n roll royaly the first chord he hit on that Gibson flying V. My friend Gilbert and I were blown away. Thanks Kevin! Thanks nzoz for the post

  • NOW THIS IS FUCKING COOOOL..ONE OF THE FIRST LIVE PUB GIGS I EVER WENT TO..BOMBAY ROCK..I WAS ONLY 17..SHH..KEV ALL WAYS GAVE 100%..AND FUCKING LOUD TOO..IS THAT JOHN ANNIS ON DRUMS AND TIM PARTRIDGE ON BASS..ROKCN BLUES LEGEND..ALL BOWWW NOWWWW...

  • Hmm.. as far as wanker goes. I'd be surprised if he wasn't. Show me a guy who says he doesn't & I'll show you a liar ;-)

That said K.B.E's 1st album was brilliant & this was my song favorite on it. It was made to be played loud. One of the gigs I saw they had a small spot light focused out into the crowd like the headlight of a train. At the start of the song was darkness. It grew bigger as the "Train" got closer. then changed to 2 strobe lights out of sync with each other. An awesome effect.

  • The original recording of this was so good. This live version is not as good..Pity that the original is not on Youtube

  • I remember seeing The Party Boys at Selinas (Sydney) with Borich and Joe Walsh (Eagles) as the two guitarists, in the 80's sometime. They had some epic duels, each out the front of their half of the stage, trading solos....I think Borich wiped the floor with him.

Another good Party Boys memory - Shellharbour Workers Club near Wollongong, Shirley Strachan the singer, Borich there as usual, and Jimmy Barnes joining them for a few songs (he lived not too far away up in the Southern Highlands)

  • @MrJames1364 Totally agree with you.Kevin Borich ate Joe Walsh for breakfast. Go the express..........................

  • That is nothing more than sensational, what a f'ken legend

  • My idea of heaven, fantastic live Aussie music.

  • Obviously aint met the down to earth guy then?

  • I reckon kevin Borich is the NZ/Aussie version of Gary Moore. Can play heaps, but is a wanker.

  • @ewbie100 Borich is a wanker? Really? Damn, what a let down! :-(

  • @nzoz1979 Do I detect a hint of sarcasm there? Apparently he's still crawling around Oz but now with his son as the star....

Black Caps in trouble at Hamilton....bad light and the Aussie quicks will be on the piss.

  • @nzoz1979 H honestly thought Borich would have been the more humble kind.

  • @funkydudey

"I reckon kevin Borich is the NZ/Aussie version of Gary Moore. Can play heaps, but is a wanker" - quote from ewbie100.

    And my response follows with:

"Borich is a wanker? Really? Damn, what a let down! :-( "...

Now that you see that, HOW ABOUT TRYING TO FUCKING READ FOR ONCE IN YOUR LIFE YOU STUPID MOTHERFUCKING CUNT! HOW FUCKING DARE YOU ANSWER ME LIKE THAT WHEN I DIDN'T MAKE SUCH A COMMENT IN THE FIRST PLACE.

  • @nzoz1979 IT WAS A MERE RESPONSE TO WHAT SOMEBODY ELSE HAD SAID ABOUT HIM. I DID NOT IMPLY THAT BORICH IS A WANKER, NOR DID I SUPPORT EWBIE'S INITIAL RESPONSE, SO FUCKING PACK IT IN YOU STUPID MORON.

HOW FUCKING DARE YOU ANSWER ME LIKE THAT WHEN I'M THE ONE WHO PUT ALL THIS SHIT ON YOUTUBE YOU SELFISH PATHETIC CUNT.

AGAIN, I WILL TELL YOU TO READ OVER SOMETHING REPEATEDLY BEFORE ANSWERING TO SOMEBODY NEXT TIME. NOW FUCK OFF!!!!!!

  • @nzoz1979 well said mate,,

  • @ratrodralphy thank you

  • @nzoz1979 Thank you for your kinds words and wonderful description of me. Please forgive my pathetic ignorance. I'm new to how you tube works I didn't realise your comment was merely a response to someone else's. Now I know. Thank you for taking the time to reply. When I first saw the comment I took it on face value and didn't recognise it to be a sarcastic response to another's comment.

  • @funkydudey @nzoz1979 I do realise in retrospect that my comments are quite harsh, I'd had a few too many beers at the time and was quite excited to see this excellent clip. I was affronted to see Kevin Borich described as such. Forgive me for my passion. However while I was pissed, what's your excuse?

  • @nzoz1979 and funkey dudey..this conversation is f*ing ace. the vibe is just like staggering by and hearing a couple of drunks arking up at the Bondi pavillion. Now I remember clearly that time when I wasn't a middle aged twat on a computer ... Thanks guys. ..maintain the rage! good stuff!!

  • No worries Ozzyhell, glad you liked it!

  • Wow this is great classic Aussie Rock!!!!!!! Thanks for posting!

    Kevin Borich is awesome!!!

  • great classic Aussie Rock done by a Kiwi

  • Saw him at the Bowl in 1981'

  • Please please please!!!!!!! Anybody got any footage of rock arena 77 Melb. Calder Park Raceway - Borich and Santana. Would love to relive that unbeleivable concert. GOOOOOO Borich!!!!!

  • I have pics from that day. Japanese banc Creation. Kevin Borich. Santana. LRB. Fleetwood Mac. I was lucky enough to be fairly close to the stage.

  • thanks for the info ..someone else asked was this from the Abc show Rockarena ..i dont think so ..that was live in the studio ..now that would be great to see..they do most songs of the first two Kevin Borich Express albums ..from a very dim memory ''Rescue dream'' with the that great bass line was one of the highlights..anyone have a video of it to post???

    Leslie

  • Great playing, just never liked the song. All pyrotechnics, no depth of feeling, bland lyrics. KB just needed some decent material and there would have been no stopping the Express.

  • the drummer is john

  • Do you mean John Annas? He played on Celebration. I saw Borich twice over the w'end here in Melbourne. John Annas is STILL playing with him, and they are both playing better than ever. He tore the Williamstown RSL apart on Sunday. Legends.

  • your fuckin joking thats were i was. If you saw a little boy in a white fury jumper that was me. willys town rsl on sundat 2:oopm till five

  • The drummer is amazing.

  • captain, the original drummer was a bloke named tony barber as i remember a family friend from the norhtern subs

  • Would that be Tim Partidge on bass?? certainly looks like him...great bass player..

    Leslie

  • Yes Leslie that's Tim on bass and John Watson on drums

  • I never missed seeing Kevin Borich at any of the pubs on Sydneys Northern Beaches. Probably the most unrecognized world beating slide guitarists on the planet. - Karlos

  • KB opened for Status Quo @ Myer Music Bowl mid 76 ....just amazing Qup played at some decibel level that caused complaints from 5 miles away....ohh the inhumanity of it :-))

  • Yep old Kevin Borich ex Kiwi Fronts Man for the La De Das 1967 New Zealand Maori Boy Phil Keys on vocals.

  • Phil Keys. That's his name. Whatever happened to Band of Light? I can't find any trace of them. I used to see the La De Das at Cabramatta back in the mid 70's.

  • They split up in 1974 - Key went on to become a taxi driver and died from heart problems in 1984 - ironically the La De Das were planning to reform at that time...

  • Noz, i'm sure this was released in 1976 and not in '73.

  • It probably was released in '76... I'll do a little checking.

  • It was on the album called Celebration.

  • Agh.. okay, thank you for the details. Will make changes soon.

  • Fuck me! Its so log since Ive seen/heard this!

  • A very young John Watson on drums!

  • Watto with hair!

  • I loved this guy! He was my hero in high school. Saw him at the local pubs in Melbourne, the Music Bowl and the the legendary Racecourse gig where Santana called him out for a jam at the end of his gig. AWESOME!!

  • Oh I forgot - Also saw Status Quo in 1976. My fave band at the time.

  • I saw Kev in Wellington around 80-82 at the Victoria University. AWESOME. Is this from the Rock Arena TV gig. I am desperate to get a hold of that on DVD. If anyone has a copy - I can do a good trade. Thanx for posting

  • Saw KB open for Status Quo @ the Myer Music Bowl in 76

    Loved him eever since

What a gig KB & Quo at over 110 decibels

    :-)))))))))))))))))))))

  • kevin borich at the bondi life saver bless you kevin for all the great nights there

  • This bought back a few memories. A Kevin Borich concert was something you always looked forward to. Probably one of the best slide guitar players around.

  • so cool
