Well I personally think metal started with the early metalbands such as Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and Zeppelin. (mainly trash)metal grew till the 90's when a whole new metal got in our lives. So i think a metalband has to have it's roots from this early metal or the first trash generation like metallica. We just gotta make sure that we don't include Emo gays in metal.
