  • did you hear that one guy?,,,sounded like he said "yo im finna steal sum chips" lol

  • Dang did you guys fly up in the air?

  • One person screaming for JESUS the other saying the F bomb over and over.. kinda funny to hear how people react

  • People huddling down in a tin tank above ground enduring an EF-5, hard to believe some the critical commentary left here. Problems with how they reacted? For real?

  • I can't get over how terrifying this video is. This may sound cheeky but its not meant to be, it reminds me of The Blair Witch Project. I mean no disrespect by comparing it to a movie, but the eeriest part of it is that you can't see anything after the last person comes in and that the tornado strikes so suddenly.

  • @joeymac2 I agree. Right after the last person comes in and then you hear what sounds like rain pouring down inside around 3:15 ish, I teared up sitting on my couch. I can't imagine the fear people experience going through something like that.

  • i dont blame them for praying,,omg

  • oh hell........

  • Having a panic attack just watching.

  • i was peeing myself just watching it!

  • I pray that all the people leaving comments questioning God find Him in their lives!

  • im sorry god isn't going to save you that cooler did give credit where due. im not trying to bash either but when your to busy trying to praise god and not paying attention to whats going around you that will only get you killed.

  • if you want to believe God and Jesus saved there lives, go ahead...... but logically speaking there lives were saved due to the meteorologists who forecasted strong severe weather in that area, the ones on the TV who urged people to take shelter, the NWS employees who issued a tornado warning, and the fact that people the took sufficent shelter and weren't hit by flying debris...

150+ people died because the tornado had wind speeds near 250mph, and if you weren't in a basement, you were gone

  • I love how jesus lady pipes up "somebodies on my back". She interupts her prayers to complain. Typical Christian. I love that someone asks "when is it gonna stop" and some brilliant smart ass responds "I don't know!! 6 oclock". Humor in the face of death. I like that kid.

  • yeah, thanks jesus for the F5 tornado that killed 160. You're a real awesome motherfucker. xtians...jeez.

  • @MrBeanerschnitzel This is one of the reasons why I've doubted religion, how can God let this terrible stuff happen.... and I don't buy the bs that "He's trying to test our true character and strength"... thats like saying to your best friend, "I'm gonna break your leg just so you can get stronger"...... however I don't think this is an appropriate place to bash religion in the manner you just did

  • @jimissarcastic--Non sequitur. The fact that God doesn't conform to man's notions of him doesn't mean that God doesn't exist. No one likes adversity. Depending on your age and circumstances, I think you would have to agree, if not--talk to seasoned people-you probably won't understand. Peace.

  • I'm not going to ever tell someone whats right and whats wrong...... I can't know if I'm right about such a thing, I just like to keep a open mind before i make a decision

I'm a meteorology major cause I really want to understand evrything about the weather, so I can logically explain an event such as this

  • "Dammit, why'd the fck we drive in this direction?" "I dunno."

Talk about lucky, providence, what have ya. Direct hit and you guys lived.

  • sx

  • This just gave chills

  • How scary dark it is outside. This video is so upsetting and scary Im so Grateful you all made it out alive! I hope you never have to go through anything like that again . You were all in the hands of GOD He protected all of you! Thank You Jesus!!

  • It gives me CHILLS listening to this video - GOD BLESS you all ... unreal....

  • This is the most frightening Joplin tornado video out there. Despite all the death and destruction, it is heartwarming to hear the love and concern each had for the other. Total strangers, bound together in the fight for their lives, really brings out the best in humanity. Wouldn't it be wonderful if we all acted with this much concern for our fellow man on a daily basis? Thanx for sharing this video and I too, am glad everyone there survived. What a story they'll tell for many years to come.

  • Thank God they're alive.

  • what got me was the kid screaming. thats when i lost it

  • Everytime I see this I get chills. Thank God they all survived. The entire Fastrip was demolished and they all crawled out through a small opening after the tornado had passed. It's a true miracle they all lived through this.

  • did anyone die in this gas station that you were in?

  • @25143J

    They all survived.

  • Were those cops that entered at 1:26?

  • i bet that shit was scary as shit!

  • wow, that video is scary as heck! and yea god did protect them.

  • @MrDrums76 no, he tried to kill them. they got lucky.

  • Damn that was scary. Now I know what it's like during a tornado. I wasn't even there and I'm STILL shaking in my pants and my heart's beating fast. Holy shit. I never want to be inside a tornado; not even when I'm dead and my body is laying in the ground. I'm fuckin' TERRIFIED THOSE THINGS!!!!!

  • my frinds step dads ex wife was in there

  • i hate to see this video it makes me so sad because i was born in St. John Hospital there

  • @WickedTornado ok, so let me ask you this, do you believe that good is all knowing? That he knows what happened yesterday and what will happen 10,000 years from now?

  • @pbmdh yes he will know. ask him

  • Jesus didn't "protect" these people, the shelter of the convenience store protected them.

  • @jaxtellerbro R u serious? Jesus did protect these people. U know in this same tornado a group of people huddled into the freezer of a Pizza Hut when this tornado hit. A few people were actually sucked outta that thing and they were killed. Now how is it a coincidence that everybody survived in this freezer but yet there were ppl that were killed in the Pizza Hut's freezer? JESUS PROTECTED THEM!!! Jesus knows when its ur time 2 leave this world

  • holy shit

  • I remember this night. We were getting tornadoes here in Illinois too. I hope the citizens of Joplin rebuild and get back to the lives they want to live. I know it's so scary to go through this. We've had a lot of close encounters too. You guys are so brave, R.I.P everyone who didn't make it </3

  • i have seen this video hundreds of times. it never ever EVER fails to give me the chills. every. single. time.

  • >I love everyone, i love everyone man.

    oh god what.

  • holy crap!! thats scary! Iam glade your safe, and stay strong thought all of this=)

  • This video nearly brought tears to my eyes, I can't even imagine the fear you guys went through. I hope everyone is okay, and you guys were so strong through all of this. :)

  • She should have said....O BA MA! O BA MA!!!

  • The lady calling on the name of Jesus was doing exactly the right thing. I believe there is power in that name! Thank you Jesus the people in this video were protected.

  • @Raptor1771 yeah. ok. the jesus part was silly. there's a violent swirling funnel of death packing 250mph winds barreling down on you destroying everything around you. he's clearly trying to kill you, you just got lucky.

  • @lordhelmit3 No he is not trying 2 kill u ignorant ass. Tornadoes happen they're just a part of life. Some ppl die some dont. Yea buildings do get destroyed but only b/c its time for a change. Y do u atheists focus so much on the negative aspects of disasters? Cant U see there is good vs evil in these things? The evil being the tornado destroying & the good is everybody coming out 2 help one another. God is real whether U choose 2 believe or not

  • OMG, I pray that everyone is alright. At lease you guys did the smart thing.

  • It sounded as if the place was hit by the leading edge of the storm, then hit again by the retreating edge. Very intense and terrifying.

  • Fast & Powerful!!

  • is that why youre called houstonhobo? because you dont know how to take the lense cap off???

lol just kidding - i shoudnt kid like that. I hope everyone was alright.

  • This breaks my heart.

    Is everybody ok??????

  • How come it says the tornado hits at 2 minutes into the video? If u look closely the tornado itself hits at about 3 minutes!!!!

  • 1:i love every one, i love you!

    2:jesus, jesus!!

shit this video is very terrifying, but is very fun

  • @stefano23796 It's always interesting to see the reactions of those staring death in the face. It's usually the same, but I don't know if it would be under the fun category.

  • @halftimesportscards sorry yep it's true but if i'm i a house when out there's a tornado i think i say shit shit shitttttttttt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

maybe jesus jesus jesus but my istinct say me:say shittttttt!!!! it is the first word in my mind.

sorry for the delay to answer your comment (and sorry for my bad english if i done something wrong.. i'm not english i'm italian with thew passion for the tornado)

  • this breaks my heart :(

  • the video that is posted showing the area outside and all that was destroyed and the little area where the shelter(cooler) that saved their lives stands is amazing. I cannot say anymore except to the twisted people looking for whatever come live with someone like me in Tornado Alley. Sickos!! God Bless Joplin !!

  • I agree with the majority. No video is needed to imaging the chaos and devestation taking place outside. The bravery and calm cool heads of the adults and at least on child I could hear is awesome to witness. That is what helps save lives. They were very lucky, but that walk in cooler despite all the heavy casses of beer and shelving plus all the glass turned into shrapnel is the key without it they would not be with us! God Bless you guys! My prayers go out to you.

  • WOW! No need for visual, the audio was plenty! I was very teary eyed listening to this. I couldnt imagine what you all went through!

  • Jesus Jesus Jesus! Heavenly Father!

  • @sheldance27

That didn't do the other several hundred people that died much good, did it?

  • @pbmdh What you don't know, in all your bravado and mockery...is that there is a much bigger picture to life than you currently understand. You don't know that perhaps the people who did die....it was their time to go. We're all going to "go" someday...and there are many different and various methods in which the Good Lord makes it happen. Don't worry...you'll get your chance someday too. And when it begins to happen, you'll find out just what kind of person you are at your core.

  • @WickedTornado

Wow you sure are full of it, aren't you? There is much to life you don't understand too, and that is whether or not your "lord" even exists. And if he did, he is 100% the reason for any suffering caused on this planet.

  • @pbmdh No sir, it is man's misuse of his gift of freewill that has caused most of the misery on this planet. But, you go on believing what you wish to....that's your free will in action, see? And I'll go on believing mine. PS...I stand by every word I wrote to you earlier, too. You'll get your chance to find out just who you are inside, once you get close to death. You're on a collision course with life. Have a great new year.

  • @WickedTornado Finally someone with some sense!!! THIS COMMENT HAS JUST MADE MY DAY♥♥♥

  • @MrGSWAGG92 Thank you for the kind words, MrGSwagg. Takes one to know one, so please commend yourself as well for being able to connect with what I wrote.

  • I agree with @biotoxin. I don't live in Joplin, Nor have I been quite that affected yet by a tornado. I do live in tornado alley, and have seen plenty of the horrific things tornadoes can do to a house, car and more importantly lives. Jawallen4 has NO clue why even just the audio is important.

  • thanks for the upload sorry people rate you down cause you dont see it... Glad ur ok

  • @biotoxin....i sincerely hope that u are in an f5 tornado soon...i really do and the reason for that is because I live in joplin and theres not a single soul from joplin that would ever say what you just said...it was very rude and unthoughtful and all that screaming is us citizens of joplin thinking were going to die which many people actually did so either have some reslect or keep your rude worthless comments to youself!

  • Incredible...God bless all those affected.

  • @biotoxin21 Guess you have never been in a tornado have you butthead? if it wasnt for whoever got them into that walkin cooler, they would all probably be dead. The sound is terrifying all on its' own...u don't need to be able to see this to comprehend the kind of destruction that happened in less than 1 minute. Why don't you move to tornado alley bro, and see if living there doesn't change how you view videos like this. Seriously.....STFU. Nuff said.

  • @Barderella Why would i move to an area with tornado's? Dumbass

  • @biotoxin21 dumbass? LOL TROLL! Obviously u need to be enlightened before u open your big fat ignorant naive mouth again. That's why dumbass!

  • @biotoxin21 Got an issue w/ the darkness? Take it up w/ clouds and the lack of emergency lighting.

  • Tornados do last forever. i was in Joplinj at the time. scary!

  • Who Needs that in Their life? Nobody does. I'll be praying for you all.

  • Wow! Unbelievable, it seems like the tornado lasted forever! God bless you guys

  • @jeepintr Well, obviously some tornadoes, as you probably know already, are of various sizes and widths, and also vary greatly in how fast they travel. In my experience with chasing, the winds that made it seem like the tornado was lasting forever...after the initial tornado "hit" were probably what is known as RFD...or rear flank downdraft. These are winds on the back end of the parent thunderstorm that are forced downward and often follow the tornado. They can be horrific too.

  • oh my gosh, i'm praying for you all. this made me cry.

  • oh my gosh, i'm praying for you all.

  • Horrifying. This made me cry, and I’m not a crier! I sincerely hope everyone in that building was okay.

  • That group of people that got inside the store at the 1:26 mark are so lucky. They probably had no idea that action would save their lives.
