"Einstein's equations of general relativity simply say the following; The Ricci curvature tensor, minus one half of the metric tensor, times the contracted tensor is proportional to the stress energy tensor. All this says that if I start with a star, a black hole or even a universe 'that' determines the curvature that surrounds that concentration of matter and energy. But inside these equations there is a MONSTER." - Prof Kaku
I think any description of how: black holes, singularities, newtonian physics, quantum mechanics and an expanding universe can be united in all one theory, would be far too large to fit into 500 characters.
Like is you pull a rubber and over nails it will pierce it. This will create a suction so large that everything will be sucked in to nothingness. Like deflating a balloon thanks for reading sorry about spelling errors done on iPad please read the previous comment to make sense of this
The fact that the universe is like a big rubber band, it is constantly expanding, but if it reaches a certain point where it starts to contract and as it is contracting and everything is moved closers together. I the contraction process when it confronts a black hole the black ole will basically stand its ground and not move. This would mean there would be a set size to the universe like putting a rubber band over a cup it always stays one size. If however the black hole stays it will rip a hol
"Black Holes" were first theorized by a geologist and a mathematician: Using only Newton's Laws of motion in the late 1790s, by John Michell and by a Mathematician, Pierre LaPlace. They independently suggested the existence of an "invisible star." Michell and LaPlace calculated the mass and size — which is still called the 'Event horizon' (originally a classical mechanical term for the same thing) —
that an object needs in order to have an escape velocity greater than the speed of light. Prior to this, John Michell, in letter to Henry Cavendish (the discoverer of Hydrogen), in 1784, (long before Einstein and general relativity) discusses the effect of gravity on light as if this were old news. In 1967 John Wheeler, an American theoretical physicist, for whatever reason, applied the term "black hole" to these objects.
If the centre of a black hole is a singularity, and our universe began as a singularity, that tells me that our universe is in the centre of a black hole. Maybe our universe is not expanding but contracting at an accelerating speed into the centre of a black hole. This would be indistinguishable from an expanding universe. I thought this a while ago. I haven't heard this idea before and if it turns out to be the case then I'm claiming it ok! This is MY idea :-)
@1simonmatthews I've heard the idea that our universe could be inside a black hole, but I haven't heard anyone describe how a contracting universe would be indistinguishable from an expanding universe. Picture it. If we are contracting at an accelerating speed into the centre of a black hole, then any matter toward the outer edge would be contracting at a slower rate and therefore would appear to be expanding away from us.
@Muraz72 Hahaha yes, people might be wrong. But don't forget what I said - the idea that our universe is inside a black hole is not new. Leonard Susskind, for one, has talked of it. He just didn't explain that a contracting universe may appear the same as an expanding one. So I just took Susskind's idea, that we could be inside a black hole, and thought about it, and came to the realization that a contracting universe may appear the same as an expanding one, which would fit with Susskind's idea.
@Muraz72 Can you see how a contracting universe may appear the same as an expanding one? I mean, did you think about it at all? Or do you just like calling people wrong without thinking at all?
@1simonmatthews Okay, well Mr simon. I don't believe in the universe expanding or ever has for that matter. Science can only prove so much, before even the most amazing psyhisitcs are stumbled. Try searching within yourself for impossible question. :)
@Muraz72 I also believe that the larger universe is not expanding. If there is expansion, then it's probably contained to an area within the larger universe. I believe the larger universe to be, well, I don't really know. I think the notion of space and time breaks down. I think that anything that is possible has already happened, and is happening right now, somewhere. The implications of that are astounding, and would terrify us!
The big bang came out of black holes all evenly distributed accross the universe makeing it look like inflation. The last 14 billion years are stored in all the black holes. Key save points are needed to account for the 126 decimal places squared accuracy since big bang

@muraz72 - you dont believe the universe is expanding? This has been observed, tested, and proven.
You do realize that right?
The answer to "impossible" question by definition doesnt exist, such is the nature of "impossible" things.
These questions are just hard, not impossible.

Wow. Even on an enlightening video such as this, I can still find hateful comments, and people arguing. They never fail me.
