dave evans biggest mistake - he quit ACDC (i was told coz they wearn't pretty boys like him lol ) forcing them at the last minute to throw one of the roadies in, as lead singer - and a legend was released (bon scott forever)
and then he came back a year or so later with rabbit i seen them live they just didnt have the magic to go with the glam.............................
i never knew joan baez ever branched out into designing her own line of off-market amplifier stacks! though she was always so hard rock i guess it was pretty inevitable she'd do something like that.
i feel like i sorta shouldn't like this video, but i do.
@diamondog99 that's cool man! i didn't start playing until the 80s and i was always keenly aware that i'd missed the golden age of guitar tone and real rock, i would love to have ruptured some eardrums in '74. consider yourself envied.
@highway234 .......ha!!! not only others but my own...those things had 4 x 6550 tubes in them , they were as loud as fuck...beautiful amps ..made out of a shed in newcastle back in the day...
@diamondog99 I was thinking watching this it's a classic old school guitar sound. Amp and mic placement were an art back then unlike now where it's just through an effect a lot of the time. Nice guitar solo too. Reminiscent of Angus on LTBR album even though this predates it
**** ... Message to nzoz1976 ... **** You have some of the BEST music clips I've EVER seen ... Just wanted to acknowledge my appreciation here ... Many thanks for the memories I'm re-living ... More work than anyone realises I'm sure ... & how often does anyone even bother to say a simple "Thank You"? ... I'm sincerely grateful. Your clips have brought me so much joy ... in all the years you have posted - SO MANY - Too many to count. Thanks again ... so very much : )
I can see why people went into Punk Rock in the mid 70s. The early 70s produced hard edged heavy music like Black Sabbath that expressed the fustrations of people who were poor, working class, etc. By the mid 70s the Stoner music gave way to party rock like this and people needed an anger outlet. Dust was a failed 70s hard rock band and the 2 founders produced KISS (Glam Rock) and one became the drummer for the Ramones who founded Punk Rock.
@SupernautG The Ramones didnt invent punk. Sabbath were not a peoples band singing about lay offs, recession and Social justice. Your right about punk being angry. The oils sang " were gettin sick of the music of middle aged queens gettin fatter and fatter and splitten their jeans, its all the same were out in the cold, the good ones died the others just got old- 'everythings set, everythings fine you just gotta stand in line (the dole cues at the CES -Commonwealth Employment agency) Late 70's
@SupernautG "the ramones founded punk rock" ludicrous and inacurate statement man, and to insinuate that kiss produced glam rock just shows your musical naivette is in full bloom.....marc bolan was doing that stuff while kiss where still shitting yellow.
@TheMichaelseymour Iggy/Stoogers were proto punk - Iggy would not have known what you meant if you went back in time and called his music "punk rock". I guess it is like saying Jimi Hendrix was "heavy metal" even though he was not - but he did influence the genre.
It's called Glam Rock people, it's supposed to be cheesy, kitschy and over the top, it is not meant to be taken seriously. It might look silly today, but you need to put it in the context of the time it's from. The early-mid '70s was a time where silly Pop music was embraced. And I don't think Evans is all bad. I actually like his version of Can I Sit Next To You, Girl? with AC/DC.
I dig Dave Evans! He is what he is. Rabbit was influenced no doubt by Sweet/T Rex..etc. No matter what...Dave Evans was the first official lead singer of AC/DC..he is on the first recordings and that enough puts him in the rock and roll history books.
this song is brilliant. I have to say I like ac/dc better though, but this band sound great too. I can vaguely remember seeing them on countdown in 75 or 76 as a kid. They were singing a song called too much rocknroll
Hey NZOZ, I'm reuploading all the songs I have previously uploaded to youtube to a different account. Could you remove the video responses that don't work? You'll know which ones they are as I'll post new video responses to the appropriate videos.
Thanks. By the way, Do you have footage of Rabbit playing songs from their first album other than the jam of Lady La Di Da? I saw some "Catch Rabbit Live" Footage on YT but Bigbadbees' accounts have all been closed.
Nah... the only thing Rabbit stuff I have is a set they did for the 'Too Much Rock 'n' Roll' album and the 'Lady La Di Da' clip. That's all of Rabbit I have.
Does anyone have a vid of a band called Wrabbit , or tracks from their album. This is what I was looking for when I came across this post. There was also a band called Lynx that I used to listen to. Haven't found anything on them either .
South African band from the 1970's was named Rabbitt. Two "t"'s at the end. Pretty big in South Africa. At one point I think they were selling better than the Beatles. Trevor Rabin from Rabbitt ended up in Yes.
Dave Evans really agrivates me, the fact that he dances really gay and thats probably why every1 thought AC/DC were a gay band and just cuz he was an asshole to the Youngs.
I think that's a fair question. They may well be considered a glam band. There's a lot of Sweet influences that comes through some of their tracks. The band are dressed a little flashy too. I'd say it's fair to say they're glam-rock or glitter-hard-rock...
However, they're not as glam as Supernaut... check them out on this account!
oh yeah those guys were glam all the way. thanks for the answer dude, i didn't really follow dave evans too much after ac/dc so i was just curious. in my opinion dave evans fit in better with rabbit than ac/dc. dont get me wrong dave has a great voice and he can sing well but ac/dc wasn't the glam type so he didn't really fit in with them.
