  • GOGO is the biggest musical secret of the world. Maybe having grown up in dc I'm biased but I have yet to see someone discover it and not like it. It's so great to see gogo put smiles on peoples faces- just wish it could happen to more people.

  • I wish Go-Go got more respect in the music industry. It's one of those music styles that you can't commercialize. When you do that to true Go-Go music. It doesn't sound the same. It has to be live to really appreciate it.

  • what do you mean by "go go"?

  • @MrEllenwork Go-GO is a style of music that they listen to in the DC area. It was started in DC in the early 80's. It's a rythmic combination of drums and congos. If you want to hear more of it. Look up Chuck Brown or E.U.

  • @onemeangi

Thanks onemeangi! I looked it up, too. Sounds very interesting. Would love to see it live.

  • @onemeangi baby go back a few years like in the late 70's

  • @MrEllenwork By the early 1970s, Chuck Brown, a veteran of the DC club scene, playing dozens of Top 40 covers a night to crowds that were slow to get on their feet. “They’d come in all dressed nice and sit down at their tables and then not get up till they were drunk,” he recalls. It didn’t help that the songs lasted only two or three minutes each; any dance floor momentum stopped dead while the band geared up for the next tune.” REST OF STORY @ WHATSGOGO(dot) com
