Can anyone recommend some good Opeth albums to me? This is the first ever Opeth song I ever heard. I love Mikael's other band Bloodbath but I have just never gotten into Opeth. Thanks.

Dear god, I got chills while listening to this song. The studio version is amazing, but hearing the crowd singing along is what got to me. I also love how they sound basically the same live as they do in the studio versions.

just out of curiosity, what precisely seperates bad drummers from good drummers from great drummers from legends? i can never quite tell the difference between the last two mainly, and i know what a bad drummer sounds like, but i also have problems between a good one from a great one. maybe give some examples would be nice =D (also, is Lopez great or legendary. i really like his style and the stuff he does is incredible, but why/why isn't he legendary?)
@Joeygame1018 Bad drummers is easy, they either can't keep a beat, or can't do anything but keep a beat... Good drummers add to the music, Great drummers stand out in a good way. Legends are typically in the great drummer category but a lot of what determines a legend is luck. Heard of Dafnis Prieto? Doubt it... Amazing drummer, but with not nearly enough exposure to be called a Legend.

The first two minutes of any Opeth song, period, is filled with way more intricate compostion than any of Slipknots' songs combined. @RocKk3r lol... slipknot was my first metal band. they introduce me to metal. but now i dont listen to them anymore- i listen to much heavier music like thrash death progressive. but i msut say that they do have good songs, and that Cory is a good singer. i just dont like their riffs anymore, the fact that they dont have solos, their style, etc.

slipknot is nothing compared to Opeth. How could anyone even compare? The first two minutes of any Opeth song, period, is filled with way more intricate compostion than any of Slipknots' songs combined. If Slipup was a single note of music then Opeth is the sheet in which it is written. Anyone who even knows anything about music should know better than to put that sorry-excuse-of-a-pop-metal-band up there with the musical brilliance of Opeth. Give me a break.

@nomadicvampire Joey Jordison from slipknot is very similar to Opeth's drummer. Yes Opeth is by far the more talented band. But they're drummers sound quite similar. Opeth is the better band but Slipknot has the 3rd greatest drummer on the face of the earth

Why is there even a debate about which band is better? Opeth dominates the SHIT out of Slipknot. I'm not saying that Slipknot sucks or anything, but they aren't close to Opeth on a musical level. Opeth is one of the best bands of all time. Slipknot doesn't come close to reaching them.

You cannot listen to a band like Opeth until you REALLY start listening to good music and understanding it. We all go through our stages where we just HEAR the music but there is a difference between hearing and understanding what good music is.
