  • his legs are so sexy!

  • You will get more respect if you lose those tights.

  • hack.

  • So whats the point of the medicine balls? your just letting letting go of them before you actually jump?

  • @DeathInTheMusic i greater force downwards so your muscles have to work harder to exert that force back upwards - i think :P

  • Deeeeeep voice

  • sweet tights

  • I really like the depth jumps with weight but beginners have to be really careful and should start without weight. Flash Performance Sports Training

  • This really is a great exercise. I added a few inches on my vert., but unfortunately, while doing this fist exercise, I landed on one of the balls and broke my ankle. Now I'm unable to play for the rest of this season, but when I get better I'm ready to jump out of the gym.

  • is he wearing leggings and a skirt?

  • @bobpiemoo i thought dat too haha!

  • Do u have to open your mouth every time?

  • That just hurts the tendons in my feet watching you smash those landings.

  • @kimanitillman haha

  • Jump ha Jump ha Jump again ha

  • test

  • now i know how to jump high.......imma get back to basketball

    ( i stop playing basketball since i was 15 )

  • You land wayyyy to hard when you do your box jumps.

  • I'm gonna get off my my computer and do these right now :D

  • isit just me or does it sound like hes saying ' whats up everybody, tnaks for cheacking out 'Strap on.com'

  • are u sayin do two sets of 5 everyday?

  • this looks helpful

  • ERF i could never make it that high (deph jump) unless im on a trampoline. xD

im short and i cant jump high at all, but im trying out for volleyball tomorrow so i said, i guess its time i started working on jumping higher (yah i realized today was kind of late but im not involved in sports wear u actualy have to jump, ive only ever played soccer and dodgeball... ps im only 13 DNT JUDGE ME)

  • @wwdielaughing then why the long ass comment? it's quite irrelevant! if you don't wanna be judged don't say anything... if you work out you will jump, starting today... it's not early and age is not an excuse... i know 14y.o kids with 18 inches verticals...

  • driving the arms man why did i think of that, how many inches was he box jumping?

  • Roll your ankles on those balls, you aint dunkin for awhile.

  • thanks aloooooooodude, i can actually dunk now

  • do u need the balls to do this

  • I like your balls

  • if u want to jump higher u really dont need to much u just need to practice jumping if im wrong please message me why im wrong i believe that doing small excersises like this are good but all u really need to do is jump try to touch the rim or try to jump over hurdles just jump because ur working out all the muscles in ur body

  • @unkn0wng4mer ok then, let me tell you why you re wrong your theory is incomplete and im gonna send a long ass comment to your channel so you understand what jumping really is and how you can improve your vert at its best if you want... the hurdles part is great for developing explosivenes, and the rim touching is good for plyometric ability, but it's a part of what you can do... these exercises here are much harded when done well and help different aspects on jumping like fibers recruiting ;)

  • Is it safe for the knees to be taking that much force after each jump down to the ground?

  • what if you land on ball....roll ur ankle... fall back, hit ur head on the platform.... and well yeah.?

  • Scott thong??

  • i stick with 30 inch box im not trying to break my face

  • cute tights

  • IVE BEEN DOING THIS FOR 8 WEEKS. IVE GAINED 7 INCHES. CHECK MY CHANNEL FOR RESULTS.

  • nice vid can you jump with dumbells in hand?

  • box jumps are for quickness gotta get back up as soon as u hit the ground instead hes jus crashing wont do shit for you

  • @manimadunk. That's why he said only do it if have the athletisism. If you can't handle jumping without rolling an ankle, you are in big trouble.

  • Where can I get a box?

  • i need to jump higher so i can do a better ollie on my skateboard and not get off two inches off the ground

  • Looks nice, going to try these out .

  • @AmusingYeti just curious why bro?? I was thinking of doing these workouts till I read ur comment never jump off the box. Why??

  • even with ur partner holding those boxes, still a dangerous exercise lol.

  • instead of using medicine balls, can i use weights?

  • @925tiger of course u can.

  • @925tiger Yeah, as long as u don't mind scratching denting and cracking the weights and floor

  • where can i find a box to jump on at

  • Can you dunk? And how tall are you?

  • 1st exercise great until you roll an ankle

  • 1st exercise = good idea!!

  • No hops...

  • haha the website rhymes

  • It also helps if you guys put on ankle weights

  • No offence but that is an appalling box jump technique. Never ever jump back off the box!

  • i think i'm gonna start doing these exercises. do you think it would help to use ankle weights while doing the exercises?

  • @whyyouhavetoleave - friend, using ankle weights puts a strain on the tiny bones in your feet. Not good.

It's your life, but I have a suggestion. If you must jump with weights, then try a weighted vest, or dumbbells.Basically, don't add any extra weight on your body, where it's going to directly put a strain on any joint.(eg:ankle, hip, knee e.t.c)

    :-)

  • is that a ninja jump!? dayme! i can jump like. half that lol

  • My neighbour downstairs is going to knock on my door .. ;)

  • @mossy1792 he holds 2 balls. That's ten pounds of extra weight when he lands so his body falls heavier and his legs have to support it. Then let go and jump and ur body explodes more because it now "weighs less"

  • whats the point of the balls if u drop them b4 u jump?

  • I am going to do thse along with some other excersises how long will it take to increase my vert

  • You kind of sound like that Andre the giant. :)

  • pause at the first half of 1:04. lmao

  • would that first exercise work with smaller dumb bells to

  • DEEEEEP VOICE

  • Men that exercise is cool I´ll try 2 do and let´s see what happend!!! you are a good jumper!!!

  • G'day,

    Super!

  • lose 10 pounds and workout u will see a big difference trust me i couldnt grab rim a month later im grabbing rim easy. Love from Sierra leone

  • Do sit ups help your vert? & how good are calf raisers for ur vert?

  • @kirbsta23 sit ups don't help...core exercises helps....and calf raise does help but doing it alone won't do u much...

  • but thts wasting time:/

  • u look gay

    yuckkkk

  • deep voice

  • this is good stuff mate.

Everyone take notes from this guy, the stuff he treaches is the shit! (as in good lol)

  • i do those exercises on my kitchen counter and my mom was like.....too much exposure to my dad.....

  • dis workouts are bad ther only good for stamina which is to keep going u can tell this cant jump if u wana know reply i teaCH U

  • whacha reccomend, i just need a few workouts i can do (preferebly w/o weights so i dont have to go buy any) im 6 1 180 and just need about 2 - 3 inches to dunk and i dont work out at all, i just started doin jumping lunges and calf raises.

  • @buddyshmo r u serious...help me

  • i got a natural 50in vert ididnt even work on it i get y had at rim i dunked wen i was 14 years old if anyone wants to know repley il teach u how i got 50in vert

  • @buddyshmo yeh i wanna know but i don't wanna pay or anyting

  • nobody has a natural 50 inch vert bud, you have to run around and play and be active to achive it no matter what sorry

  • youre brave dude that box jump is sketch

  • why dont you just get a bigger box?

  • been taking info from you and some other track programs, your repetitions actually make sense by working on type 1 muscle fibers, compared to those other programs that want you to jump 100 times and work on type 2 A and B... by combinging yours and another guy's sprinter and jump program my vert is now at 35 inches (standing vert)... thanks man. people should actually pay attention to this one... im an exercise science major, thsi guy knows what he's talking about

  • Appreciate the positivity!!! Exercise science is a great major!!!! Add some back squats, RDL's, and some full cleans to that routine and get your vert up to 40 inches!!!! Stay tuned to my site I'll be posting a vid that will get your legs powerful!!!! Create a great day! Coach T

  • yeah, i have been throwing in hang cleans, and the snatch to help create overall quickness in my core and hips, i have also found that incorporating front squats will help with balance more than back squats, not sure what you are referring to with RDL's...

  • Romanian Deadlifts. Great exercise that targets hams, glutes, and low back! Create a great day! -Coach T

  • @artilla13 RDLs rip those hammies up I recommend them to everyone!!!

  • @CoachScottThom Wat are RDL's?? And whats the difference if you land with the hand medicine balls and jump with them.....instead of dropping them does it matter??

  • @CoachScottThom Is it possible to be doing to much jumping? because i was touching rim about 3 weeks ago and i hurt my leg that day (the left of my knee) and now i can only grab 9 1/2. Also, everytime i jump it feels as if my leg is giving out. also my knee has been hurting from osgood shlatter more lately. Pleasse help! thanks. (:

  • @CoachScottThom Is it possible to be doing to much jumping? because i was touching rim about 3 weeks ago and i hurt my leg that day (the left of my knee) and i spent that whole day playing basketball. also it felt as i was jumping higher than normal that day. Now i can only grab 9 1/2. Also, everytime i jump it feels as if my leg is giving out. also my knee has been hurting from osgood shlatter more lately. Pleasse help! thanks. (:

  • @artilla13 what other track/sprinter programs are you following? Any info

    would be appreciated

  • dude deph jumps are suppose to be performed with the least contact time on the floor as posible

  • Demo purposes, I am showing it slow. When you are going full bore, there is limited contact time on the ground. Have a great day! -Coach T

  • excuse me. pls reply.. how many repetitions for those on a daily basis? the computer doesn't have sound i'm sorry. pls reply as soon as possible. i'm 5'8'' can do a tap-board

  • How do you start jumping, like when you have no experience jumping? Well, I've jumped before obviously, but I don't have good air, I can only jump about A foot, and I'm not obese, I run everyday, workout a little bit too.

  • start jumping without any platform or boxes... just get used to the motion and slowly progress to jumping on and off platforms, boxes or stairs.. u can start using only a 8-12 inch elevated area and work up from that.... always remember that seeing actual results will take time...

  • i think frog jumping with sand bags is better

  • You know Coach T, this is a pretty good workout but for some reason i only legpress 540 lbs and only 14 years old and im african american and it always seemed to me tht my vertical explosion doesnt occur until i play and get fully warmed up for basketball practice or a game and it changes through out. Im 6'1 and a half and when im done playing a game of basketball i can grab rim and hold onto it. But if i just like walk into the gym i can't jump what so ever. But again good workout I will try it

  • try some dynamic stretching exercises, plenty of examples on youtube to choose from, before you play. i know they help me

  • OMG dude I can only legpress 200 and Im 18! well I dont workout much I just run but still lol

  • the actual weight will vary depending on your goals- remember its not about moving loads of weight but rather its working the muscle thru a full range of motion in a controlled manner

  • Coach T ur vids are great! ive inproved my vertical leap by 2 inches now! i can almost dunk! thnx alot

  • Keep up the good work, make sure you train throughout the full range of motion of each exercise to maximize each exercise!!!!! -Coach T

  • calf raises and squats help too

  • Calf raises do little for vertical jump...Target your glutes, quads, and lower back. Squats of course are the king off all exercises. Create a great day! -Coach T

  • Thanks for info. Can you name exercises for glutes quads and lower back.

I'll keep squating but i'll stop doing calf raises.

  • I know a better execise. Explosive squats that you jump off the ground.

  • goodnes those boxes look precarious! :)

  • 1. Squat

    2. Deadlift

    End discussion.

  • Those are great exercises, and my athletes do them especially when we are in a strength phase (back squat year around!)! Other great ones are Barbell Stepup, and Reverse Barbell lunge for one legged power, the depth jump and box jumps are great to throw in the mix as finishing exercises to really get that explosive jumping ability. Create a great day- Coach T

  • Yes those are all great, but Depth Jumps should not be done after a weight session, you want to be 100% up for it and do them with maximum intensity! Do them before weights.

I can site some research if you would like.

  • Being "fresh" is always great yet in a game situations that isn't always the case. These exercises (plyos) should be done by the experienced, training, athlete (in low rep range) and at times it is ok to do plyos after a lift ie superset.

  • As long as you are giving them adequate enough rest before they start their next weight bearing set. It all goes back to what you as a coach are trying to get out of the exercise, if it's for a maximum jump then being rested is great but, if you are mimicking a game situation in which they will be fatigued then there is no problem doing this after a lift ie superset. We do this at Cal Berkeley with D1 basketball players..again, what type of population are you working with and what are you

  • trying to get out of the exercise is what you need to ask yourself, but to say NEVER to do something doesn't make sense to me unless its the "goodmorning" exercise or maxing out freshman in highschool those to me are some NEVERS. Create a great day-Coach T

  • whats wrong with goodmornings? hehe.. i dont do them or prescribe them, but I have done them and they are fine.. just need to progress properly/have good form, just like anything else.

    peace

  • Well, if you want to train a little more specific to an actual sport rather than purely Vertical Jump Improvement, that may have some merit. But lifting before plyos is definitely NOT recommended if your goal is to jump higher. Weightlifting of the weights will pre-fatigue the muscles and most notably the CNS so you will not get the most bang for your buck out of the plyos

But im glad you said low rep ranges so ur not 1 of those coachs that have kids doing 20+ rep intense plyos

  • yeah but this is really harsh on your knees, id rather stick with explosive squats with two 20 pound weight in my hands .

  • yeah that would probly work better from the looks of it

  • wow coach u can jump ur self lol xD

  • im 5'4 and i can almost dunk

  • shit nice lol

  • about 2 years ago i got osgood schlatter disease and i was 5'6 and able to grab rim. after about a year of no jumping the pain is gone. i am 5'7 180 19 years and i can almost dunk would be easier if i could palm the ball. Is there any excesses that i should do more of or less of due to my bad knees in history? Also i have a unanswered question by most jumping programs, how important is the lower back, but, and abs in jumping?

  • Im 5'6, I can touch rim on 10 ft. basketball hoop, is that good?

  • Yah that's good, just keep working!!!!

  • im 5'9 and 120lbs i can almost dunk

  • Great stuff!

  • Im 5'9 weight about 210 and can dunk on a 8'7 rim,,,,do u think that pretty good or wack....if i do those exercise for like a month about how much would i gain on my jumps?????

  • It's a starting point, continue to learn how to jump more efficiently, plyometrics, proper squatting form etc. All will help you jump higher.

  • 210 pounds is wayyy too heavy for a 5'9 tall guy. Im 5'9.5 and 14 and i way 139 pounds. For someone 5'9 and 18 years + should be 155 - 165 pounds and not exceeding 170 pounds. If you lost 40 pounds of weights you will probably be grabbing 10 foot rim two handed.

  • Thanks for ur comment.really.....yea im 210 5'9(18 yrs).....but i also have alot of muscle,i checked how much fat% i have and i have 20%.3 of fat,,,,,,,for real u think if i lose 40 pounds i might be able to dunk on a 10 foot,,..i can barley touch a 10 foot,,,,Thanks again...

  • Wow u can touch 10 feet? Then you will easily be dunking if you lost 40 pounds of fat. Dont go lower than 165 pounds cuz thats a bit skinny then for an adult. Im 14 and 139 lbs and can grab rim 1handed. I'll send you a PM (private message) in youtube of stuff you can do to jump higher. I used to be able to only grab the bottom of the net one year ago.

  • yeah i cant barley touch it...alrite cool send some tips by pm

  • Dang you've got ups! :) haha!

    this video was helpful! thanks(:

  • Appreciate the positivity!!!! It's amazing what you are capable of doing with your body when you train properly, eat right, and rest!!!!! Remember we are born movers and shakers, built to hunt down lions!!!!!!! Create a great day! -Coach T

  • dude...

wouldn't it be better if you jump together with the MB??

cuz u'll be adding weight to urself and ur muscle needs more power to push up the extra weight which could make it stronger...

  • Appreciate your question, but that would defeat the overload principle. You can do Squat Jumps which is an exercise in my "Hallway Blast" which will increase your jumping ability however, I wanted to cover the overload principle with this video in which I did. Take care and create a great day!!!! -Coach T

  • i learn bout the overload principle today so i think its kind of cool

  • so the overload of those stupid hand med balls is causing you to stay on the ground quite a bit longer (ruining your arm swing).... staying on the ground longer than needed ruins the "plyometric effect" you're trying to train..

also, those hand med balls are so light its pointless.. even if you used heavier dumbells, just get on a higer box.. it's the same exact training effect.. holding on to dumbells just makes it look cooler - but its pointless - use a higher box.

    peace

  • Actually the arm swing is engaged when the balls are dropped. As far as the overloading your system with Hand MB it does work. Check out national strength and conditioning association they did a great study on it, which showed loading the body while performing the depth jump obviously overloaded the system. If you system can take an external loading..you will be able to jump higher. Thanks for viewing the video take care- Coach T

  • That still can be achieved as adarqui said (higher box) and the ground contact time will be way better since the arms are not loaded and the body's center of gravity will be better placed (backwards, loading the posterior chain).
