So if the bureaucratic waste is so identifiable why not clean up the DOE. In this day and age education IS a huge part of defense. An occupation force in Afghanistan or Iraq that CAN'T speak the languages of those countries will be / is ineffective. And while we're talking about waste ever hear of Haliburton?

@JohnKran Defense of the nation is one of the parameters the Constitution grants to the Federal government. Education simply isn't one. Providing bureaucratic waste is the only thing the DOE does with any measurable success.
