its jackson's song and its actually written by Prince, but he gave the credits to Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Prince also plays this song in his live shows.

I love this group and they definitely do their own thing with the song but "WHYDFML" is Jackson's. She sang it in 1986 as it was written in studio for her album "Control". The Dap King release was 2002.

@DeepintheHigh- You are right. The Dap Kings make it funky so that it sounds like a 1970s record...but the song was written in 1986 by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis with Janet contributing to the lyrics.
