What I think people who are talking about gain are forgetting is, it may amplify your hammerons and pulloffs, but it's also amplifying all your tiny mistakes that would hardly be noticed otherwise.

Its alot easier to do stuff if you have a kick ass guitar and a good amp because if you have loads of gain its a shit load easier to do hammer ons and pull offs

for example a friend of mine had an ibanez gio and e really crappy one and no matterr how hard he tried he couldn't tap now he has a schecter omen 6 extreme and he can tap prettymuch anything

my advice to you for when you get a new guitar make sure it has jumbo frets (easy hammerons and pullofs)
