  • Great bloody video. Great band. Says everything about heavy metal a band needs to say. Well done, lads!

  • lol @ lemmy

  • @beckebetong haha, das is echt klasse. wär schöne wenn er bei 8.08 nochma stolpert wenn er grad seinen bass zurückbekommt :)

  • Joe elliot looks great in this

  • I can't believe a lot of you people don't realise that this is a SPOOF! Yes, it's Neil from The Young Ones (Nigel Planer aka "Den Dennis" supposed guitarist), and its also Vyvyan Bastard (Ade Edmonson, aka "Vim Fuego", supposed lead vocalist and guitarist) and Rik (Rik Mayall, aka "Colin Grigson", supposed bass player): Thats Peter Richardson from Comic Strip playing Spider Webb, the supposed drummer. They released two albums people!

  • Fish!!! Awesome.

  • is that all joe can say is yeah?

  • I like how Bad News pre-dates Spinal Tap.

  • 3 of them are from the Young Ones, Rick, Neil, and Vivian. Hugh Laurie was on the episode of The Young Ones "Bambi"....he was one of the students from Footlight College (the game show episode).

  • @Strat642001 Peter Richardson, playing "Spider" in this clip, was originally supposed to portray "Mike" on The Young Ones

  • thats neil from the young ones!!!!! lol

  • BEST BAND EVER HAHAHA

  • haha

  • 6:52 kills me every time.

  • Just brilliant.

  • Rock is about having fun not being dead serious

  • Ahh it's the guys from The Young Ones

  • (3:37) Infernal Hailz to the PRINCE OF FUCKING DARKNESS, OZZY FUCKING OSBOURNE!

  • The joke was that this WAS a joke. Everyone knew Bad News werent a real band for fucks sake. Least I thought everyone did till I saw some of these comments, Jesus.

  • Def Leppard? Really? Who the hell are they to have an opinion? Metal they are not.

  • @TheMattagascar Weeeeeell... There first ep was ok.

  • that was the best lmfao

  • what a fucking whiney bitching wanker Fish is.

Wahhh, 1 doco and they get to go on stage wahhh I want my mommy wahhh

Get a fucking sense of humour you tossing ponce

  • I was at this gig. I thought they were brilliant! I don't understand why the metal fraternity (or at least some of it) couldn't 'get' the joke(!) Metalheads were always the one's with a good sense of humour and could even laugh at themselves - what happened? It was never meant to be anything more than comedy. It worked, brilliantly! And yes, all credit is due for getting up there and doing it, amid all that hostility! That took some massive balls! Just lighten up, ppl! Enjoy and smile... (:o)

  • Who says that they weren't coached by the film makers to slag them off?

I'm pretty sure every single one of them knows the feeling of being slagged off because of people don't getting it.

  • @klistarf I think those people throwing up things on the stage were paid by Bad News! :o)

  • @klistarf Well, they're not good at all. Spinal Tap was awesome. These guys are just bad.

  • @jevation you must be American - that's the point mate - it's called humour

  • @klistarf it seems like nowadays jokes involving metal are more widespread. Obviously all of them follow the model of american humor, yet they are popular. It's sad, really. I approve of these types of jokes but not modern shit like the black metal chef something or other.

  • the fans jumped the stage because Viv said "I am the re-incarnation of Jimi Hendrix everybody bow down and worship me"

  • why were ppl throwing garbage at them?

  • Yes they pissed off a lot of people - but this is ultimate balls of steel stuff.

7:30 is killer. Hail Richard Richard

  • tommy vance!! legend

  • These are the guys from the Young Ones and Bottom... Fucking amazing

  • This is brilliant!! Plain and simple. \,,/

  • Bad News never pretended to be a real metal band , they were a bunch of comedy show actors wearing wigs , but saying that they did play their own instruments , write their own songs and endured a totally hostile audience for half an hour under a constant hail of abuse , bottles of p*ss, fireworks , food - etc etc etc.

  • How long were they on stage? Must have sucked for the metalheads to sit through 30 minutes of that shit. lol

Oh well, I gets it ok since all the bands after them were good. Warlock, Motor head, Def Leppard, Scorpions, and Ozzy Osbourne.

  • Yeh its a bit ironic but the bands you mention especially def leppard and the scorpions are a lot like bad news even though bad news were a joke band.

  • That big bloke there is dead now. he died of a broken leg. he needed an operation on his leg and the stress of trying to bring him round killed him. i think so anyway. can anyone confirm it.

  • yes. I think it was Steve Walsh. he did a cover of 'I've found Lovin' with lots of hte 'You what, you what's' in it. He had a car crash in spain ( i think ) and did die when they were operating to fix his leg. Late 80's somtime...88 89?

  • actually...Spinal Tap and Bad News were both being filmed at almost teh exact same time...Bad News a few months before production of Spinal Tap began filming....just thought you'd like to know!!!

  • f ......g brilliant lmao

  • Brlilliant. I was at Donnington that year, and stood next to a po-faced fucker who shouted "you're bringing down the good name of heavy metal!" during their set. I was in stitches, and they had a lot of balls to get up in front of 70 odd thousand rock fans.

  • Bad News! For you, and you, and you, and you, and you and you! *pointing* :)

  • So did Spinal Tap rip off Bad News or the other way around?

  • Neither. Bad news came just first but I very much doubt that Christopher Guest, Michael Mckean or Harry Shearer were ever aware of it.

  • Very, very good! I like 8:16 to 8:36!

  • HILARIOUS AWESOME! I never get tired of these guys.

  • they were supposed to be, it was a joke.

but they were STILL better than iron maiden. sorry, but i was never a maiden fan at all.

  • That's a pity...because they opened for Maiden once at a benefit show in 1988. there's a picture of them together floating around that even has Jimmy Page in it.

  • course they played and noooooo noone thought they were a serious band, sort of like spinal tap, ya know??? besides this has nothing to do with the young ones, this is a comic strip presents , I have every comic strip presents episode, like 36 hours

  • I've got every episode and the bad news album class man

  • 7:42 bottom left of picture. Thats me that is!!!! LOL!!!!!!

  • Lol so they actually played and everyone thought they were a serious band?

    Haha

    That's great.

  • Hey bad news made metal look good dickhead

  • How can you get pissed off at the young ones cast?!?!?!? Idiot! I think everyone from then knew who they were, they were quite famous then you know!!!

  • nah mate i love the young one's and these crazy guy's mate

  • I'd be very careful what you say about the Greatest Band on Earth.

  • 7:29....thats my favourite bit!

  • Right at the very end Nigel Planar looks like Kirk Hammett

  • Nigel Hammett

  • haha,i was there,great day!

  • These guys were brill-

  • Former Radio 1 rock show host Tommy Vance compering there!

  • Fish/Marillion and Joe Elliot/Def Leppard

    LMAO (anyone else spot that?)

  • That's nothing.. did you notice the way they spelt Phil Collen?

  • Yes i noticed it too, but i thought that might of been part of the mockumentries gags?. This is an extract from the second bad news vid, i found the first one funnier to be honest.

  • What did Ozzy say? It's not clear enough for me to make out.

  • "They were absolutly F******g aweful mann"

  • hey thats NEIL from the young ones!

    "first you plant the seed...."

  • Adam777 that's also Vyvyan and Rik from the same show. Bad News were a spoof heavy Metal band they put together for the "the Comic Strip Presents..." TV series. I've only ever seen the first of the two Bad News episodes so I'm glad someone posted this :-)

  • Funny bastards!

  • Like Rudi mentioned : Scheiße !!!

  • ya, I was there too. they were really crap, , but the rest of the fest was kick ass :)

  • lmaoo, the worst band ever: Badnews lmaoo xD

  • Godscominglookbusy, I think that was the point LOL

  • hence their band's name

when they took the stage, it was bad news

  • i search all this festival in video!!!please help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • thanks for video

  • So fucking funny and Bad News were created BEFORE Spinal Tap!

  • lol.. I was there!!! they really were that shit!

  • Oh, the good ol days of Bad News and Comic Strip Presents...

I'd love to see axl rose on that stage when the crowd chuck all that shit at them!! "Stop that or I'm going home!!!"

  • anyone remember the fat bloke? he,s the promoter,he died during a routine operation, cant remember his name

  • yeah he was Steve Walsh he was a DJ on a dance radio station he did a cover of I've found loving

  • I saw Bad News perform in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent. They put on a fabulous show - and clearly had a blast doing so! If you can get a copy of their album, it's really funny too. Ozzy headling Donington '86 with Jake E. Lee on guitars - awesome!!

  • I wanna see some footage of Lemmy going after the guy in the crowd who threw a flare up on stage that same year. The bouncers were holding Lemmy back! A great moment in rock history - someone has to have it on film somewhere.

  • Yeah, I forgot about that incident. I was there and what a ferkin cold day it was, not helped by the open pissed filled bottles spinning through the air, if anyone was there they'll now what I mean. All well worth it once Ozzy got on the stage though. Aaahhh fond memories ;^)

  • Bad News introduced by the legendery Tommy Vance (rip) of The Friday Rock Show on radio 1. Sadly missed and a true rocker!!!!

  • tommy vance RIP i remember listening to the friday Rock .good days.great guy and class music he played

  • Brilliant!! And dont go to the supposed replacement for donnington ie download, its SHIT!! Remember those 8 pint plastic bottles?

    Hell Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • is that hugh laurie?

  • Which one, i dont think anyone in the video is, but i may be wrong

  • @anythinggoesagain You're not wrong.

  • @duggers108 no it is´nt!

  • @duggers108

Hugh Laurie is not in this.

  • I think you might mean Peter Richardson. The others are Adrian Edmondson, Rick Mayall, and Nigel Planer.

  • @duggers108 Nope, not Hugh.

  • does anyone know where i can get a shirt like the one Ade is wearing? i've always wanted one like that. :-)

  • i love the there reaction just before they get on. Ade Edmondson does the sign of the cross and Rik skulls his beer. if i had to preform in front of a audience that size, i would drink more then one beer..

  • You gotta love Rik Mayall, so friggin hilarious!

  • i was there,,,fucking scream,,,rick mayell rules

  • lol. scorpions!!! "SCHEISSE!!!"xD

  • Brilliant. I was at this gig...a guy stood next to me & shouted "they're bringing down the good name of heavy metal". I fucking pissed myself...best band of the day except Motorhead!!!

  • ha I love it how some people can't have a laugh at metal and still enjoy it. As long as it's done with love and not just some NME twat. Interestingly enough this is some of the only donnington 1986 footage i've found.

  • Haha. Nice

  • LONG BEHIND BAD NEWS......!

  • just found the whole set on line on mp3 its fantastically bad
