  • Maybe Bush kept us safe for 8 years but I have not heard David Bromberg on the radio since Obama has been in office. David Bromberg for president! He'll keep us safe!!

  • I saw David at least 10 times in 70-80's At one show I yelled out "Sharon", he kindly looked down at me and said, ya, I like that one and did it......Always awsome!!!!!

  • that is my fathers (brian) mothers (irma) sisters (sharon) husbads (charney) brother (david), no joke!

  • remember him playing at Lincoln HS in Yonkers, NY in the mid 70's. Poor guy was booed off stage while coming on before Badfinger. Idiots in the audience threw Badfinger 45's that were given to them at Bromberg. Felt so bad for him and his band.

  • heard him at the 'sub base' in st. thomas on new year's eve in the 70's. our teenage kids got a little freaked when mom and dad were getting loose to his music.

  • Oh Yea

  • What does Bush have to do with Bromberg?

  • @7kidchaos That's funny,"Bush kept us safe for 8 years". Forget 9/11 happened while he was president ? Personally I worship no political figures,so maybe it is easier to see the truth that way.

  • iiiiiiiii LOVE this version!!!!!

    (gotta ask tho, why unembeddable?)

gonna see bromberg, with hot tuna, next week in long island... have seen both acts separately many times... this'll be the first together.... hope hope HOPE jorma, jack n' david git on stage together!!!

hey, thanks for posting it.. (and, any chance you can switch the settings so i can embed it on a blog?)... either way, thanks for da post

  • Great!

  • thanks TroyOi...actually I haven't even looked at this site since I posted the comment to the "Bush lover"....I first saw David Bromberg performing at a bar in the late 1970s. Was there with a guy that was really into his music. Bromberg was great and loved his music ever since. Also just happened to see him in the crowd at "Taste of Chicago" sometime around 1986 or so. He wasn't performing, just there like everyone else...

  • @INgirl812 That's strange ,I saw him back in the mid 70's in a club in New Haven Ct, I won tickets on a radio give away. I had to name what the next song was song by , It was a Bromberg song! Da! no one else probably called, I believe Boni Rait or Maria Muldar opened for him, unannounced Prior to concert! He covered most of his album Demon in Disguise ! He did Sharon (shorter version).....

  • BROMBERG RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What a great slice of nostalgia! i have not seen Bromberg doing Sharon since the late 70s at the Philly Folk Festival!

  • Musicians have all the rights we have and one can like a musician's music and not his or her politics. I like MUSIC and can skip the political stuff it's not that hard. Let's all sing. . .Johnny Cash's What Is Truth. Ah one...ah two...

  • Sorry youngster, too late. I first saw David Bromberg in the 1970s, so I'm not a kid. And I'm pretty sure I know a lot more about politics and Bromberg than you. Try reading from lots of sources...you need some new sources of information....and what's up with being a control freak about what people write here? I didn't realize you were in charge....Lighten up Francis...(allusion to a line from Stripes)...a movie that probably came out before you were born. Your spouting is tiresome.

  • @INgirl812 I've also loved David's music since the 70's. In fact, I just realized last month was the 40th anniversary of my first seeing him in concert. And after 40 years, I still can't get enough of him. Didn't know he was bashing Bush in his concerts, but, screw it - good for him! Guess he thought it was necessary to speak out. Looks to me like you didn't start this fight, so I don't see why they're all piling on you.

  • "Fuelfreak" ....I'll kill myself if YOU go first....wait a minute...no I won't, but YOU go ahead anyway! I commented on Bush because someone put Bromberg down for speaking his mind. He has a right to say whatever he wants (just like You do...however wrong your comments might be! You are very uninformed!!!! (I bet you believe whatever Fox tells you to!) David Bromberg is great & you obviously never let REALITY & facts get in your way.

  • @INgirl812 Haha Fox news is a joke. As is your intelligence. You are spouting the nonsense of MSNBC. Read a book. And leap off a bridge. Also, take an economics class. I'm not defending Bush - he did some stupid things, but this is NOT the place for a political argument. However, when dealing with fools like you it's usually just a whine-fest where you spout nonsense "facts" that are not based in reality. Please never have children, because we can't afford to have any more fools. :)

  • better that entertainers/ artists just SHUT UP AND SING

  • WTF???Bush kept us safe???? How's that? He's the worst and perhaps stupidest president we've ever had. Because of him and his rich, greedy buddies, we're engaged in pointless wars (attacked Iraq which had nothing to do with 9/11) killed many who died in his war of lies. Then after years of financial deregulation and rewarding the rich, he's managed to bring on the worst financial crisis in modern history. Millions have suffered. But David Bromberg is great...he's just tellin' it true about Bush.

  • @INgirl812 d\DAVID SHOULD JUST SHUT UP AND SING

  • @INgirl812 im confused, how does this have anything to do with bush if this tour was in 1984? lol i think i missed some earlier posts

  • @INgirl812 Your ignorance is blinding. Learn some facts before spouting nonsense. Also stop posting political comments on David Bromberg videos, asshole. Please go kill yourself. :)

  • ... I said the lights went low...

  • I'm beginning to doubt the integrity of my oracular organs....

  • Love this song! "She walks, she talks, she crawls on her belly like a reptile!" .... When I first heard that, man, I was hooked!

  • Loved Mr. Bromberg's music, style, skill and great nauture for 30 years, but came to despise his unprofessional Bush-bashing at his concerts, which is immature and has totally changed my mind about him. Bush kept us safe for 8 years and freed 36 million Iraqis, of that there's no denying. He also increased federal education spending from $5 billion to $25 billion, so libs should love him, but, instead, they worship the hollow abortion-lovin' Clinton/Obama ilk. It's a tired old reprise.

  • @7kidchaos It's always a shame when artists you like do that. If the artist writes political material in the first place, sorta ok. But for someone like Bromberg, really gratuitous.

  • Thx...Great song..And it inspired me to have my sideburns surgically removed too!

  • What a great amped version of Sharon. Thanks!

  • A sure Classic!

  • OH SHARON !! A GREAT OLD SONG - FOR A GREAT OLD GRILFRIEND - SHARON !!!

  • wow - I haven't heard this song since we used to go see Bromberg in the mid 70's in the New Paltz and upstte NY areas. I remember my roommate Sarah thought he was God.

  • Freakin' awesome - chucklin' like hell. here

  • Got to see him with John Stewart in a bar called Dooleys in Tempe Arizona around the mid 80's. Great post...thanks!

  • I was trying to decide to pay the cover charge of 5.00 at a club in Tempe, when a bunch of guys blew past me with jackets that said David Bromberg on the back. I paid the five bucks. it was the late 70's

  • Vyto starinskas

  • I can always tell by the artist how polite the fans will be to each other. I knew from this artist, and many others, that his commentators would not be rude or violent; but peaceable ,communicative, and intelligent. Not to disparage the other artists; only their fans.

  • I saw David somewhere around 1981 at Shippensburg State College. He was AMAZING. I will never forget the slide solo in Sharon. He made that guitar talk like I have never heard. This dude is a legend!

  • YouTube needs to add a 6th star to the rating

  • Much respect to David Bromberg, he did write this song and all, but Widespread Panic does it to so much better.

  • @MafiamanLL FUCK YOU HIPPIE

    WIDESPREAD FUCKING SUCKS

    JOHNNY ROYALE BITCH

  • 15 dancing monkeys in a soap dish I love this song.

  • oh boy ! sweeet!

  • Bromberg did this at our magnificent Stanley Performing Arts theater in Utica NY,

a restaruant next door which changed into an exotic danceatorium at night dispatched very exotic to the show, to Bromberg's complete surprise... did a few exotic turns around the stage before a very appreciative throng of 3500 B and A-mused fans.]

Another tour de force for America's original

    "Sin City".

Tom in Utica NY (a really nice place with a past which , like that of many, is a naughty nod and a wink.

  • i saw him in the mid to late 80's at the rainbow music hall in denver colo and they all would pick up mandolins or guitars or whatever and they put on such a show it was fantastic. i havent heard many bands that sound so perfect live. i have every album he ever made i think.

  • musica di grande riferimento per i 'giovani' di ieri ma poco conosciuto dai giovani di oggi!

  • omg!!! I danced around to this when he played it at stockton state in 86 I think? Hey Jeff . Lori s

  • Saw him first at Winterland. The best show was a Fat Fry live radio show at Keystone Palo Alto, 2 bucks!

  • Great song, thanks for the memories

  • Saw him again tonight in Princeton. Great show as usual!

  • I was at Princeton, too. Fantastic. David's still got it. Jeff Weiser was there, too, as was Peter Ecklund. I think he used the same guitar.

Ha. He did the same "lights went low" schtick, too!

  • David you are so young here. Where has all are youth gone? I saw you 4 times in Syracuse. Lemoyne, Long Branch, Auburn Theater, and some farm nearby. He is the king of guitars and banjo. What a talent!

  • somebody post "Sloppy Drunk" please

  • Jackie, I can't thank you enough for posting my favorite Bromberg song on YouTube. This is another one of the 200+ reasons why your channel is nothing short of a public service!

  • the Woody Allen of R and R

  • great!

  • you the same rowdy crowd that was here last night is back again

  • put the Embed up =P plzz

  • Beastie boys sampled this song

  • brombers best song! but dont request it at the show cause he wont play it at request. haha i know i went on tour with them several times cause jeff wisor is my pops!

  • Is that the Jeff Wisor from Music Moose? ... talented fiddler for sure! ... :-) kat

  • I was at a many show years ago in Billings, MT, and he did accept a request - actually an audience demand - for Sharon. He was obviously not happy about it, particularly since he was traveling solo. With no band, as he stood in the audience during the horn dominated Main Street Moan break, silently watching the empty stage, it became apparent that it was not a good idea to request this song. Maybe that's why he wouldn't do it at all later.

  • This style of music is Funk. Klezmer music is nicknamed Jewish Bluegrass. Love DB. Great clip. Thanks for posting.

  • wouldnt that be jewgrass?

  • Saw him perform twice at Wolman rink in NYC during the summer in the late '70s. (Once with John Hartford.) Been a huge fan since!

  • Hey....I was there too!

  • I saw Bromberg at the Ann Arbor folk festival with John Hartford, Dave Post... one of the best concerts I've ever seen, heard or experienced.

  • Gotta love Jewish bluegrass!

  • Jewish Bluegrass....Hmmph....Nice! Saw Bromberg a lot when younger...workin'and night-school days in Rochester NY,Bikin'days, and Deadhead daze/years. Always had to travel tho'to Syracuse and Buffalo to hear him. Always worth it. Saw him a couple years back on the Rhode Island shore. Still nice. You sound like a character(fun),NYDawg.I believe I'm a wee dram older than you,but hey...sounds like you're on a fun track, similar to my past. Catch it while you can.

  • Not sure you're older. I remember a rock station playing John Hartford in Rochester in 1976 or 77 every Friday. I think at 3 pm. "Hey Babe you wanna Boogie." I saw both Hartford and Bromberg a few years later 81? in Ann Arbor 3rd row. Still a fan.

  • Wouldn't have been WCMF would it? That was the local rock station in Rochester at the time.Brother Wease was the DJ,short for weasel,an old nickname.I'll have to look up some John Hartford, unless you want to clue me in.I'm still learnin' computers,!yr so far.Graduated HS,1972@17.

  • Probably was. John Hartford was on the Smother's Brothers regularly. Not a rocker... but the song a great start to the weekend. I was in grad school in Rochester. HS 71.

  • I read an article a while ago that started "before there was Tony Rice there was David Bromberg". I love em both.

  • YEAH!!!!! Grand Fromage!

  • david bromberg is absolutely incredible- I love this guy!

  • I saw David Bromberg outside at Central Park in the early 70's, on a concert bill that included Doc Watson, and was headlined by the Earl Scruggs Review. Those were some incredible days!

  • Bromberg is brilliant!

  • Go Dave!

  • I'm only four minutes in and I'm sold. Sensational. One of the best things I ever did was seeing this guy in 1975 - time of "Midnight on the Water". He hasn't lot it.

  • this mus t be an old show. But you're right he hasn't lost it. he's touring now. I'm going in a month. :)

  • Midnight on the water was some spectacular album. It sits next to my turntable. Up front.

  • This is the best David B there is!! btw I knew this Sharon
