This was forever burned into my brain as a child thanks to Flight of the Navigator. Hadn't thought about this in YEARS, and then tonight at work, for some reason, I start hearing "No, no, no, no. No No!" in my head. Looked up music from the movie, and found out who it was. Now I'm here. MeMoRiEs!!!
A simple yet brilliant surreal video with a spinning foot and getting to chuck furniture round! I like the way Neil and Stephen slowly rise in unison upwards and spin round and look. Great song too. Uplifting and sad simultaneously. And I could fluff Neils hair forever!
It's a real shame this wasn't a hit. I feel the same way about a lot of Blancmange's songs, all of them are so magnificent but are completely ignored. Ridiculous, really...
I hate to say it, but despite liking Flight of the Navigator (even though it's been ages since I've seen it) I love this video on its own just as much, if not more. :)
Yo MTV, put stuff like this back on & cancel all your Jersey Shore & all your Teen Mom crap. It should be all music videos (especially from the 80's), Beavis & Butthead, Viva La Bam, Jackass, The Wild Boys, Daria & Celebrity Deathmatch
Why is it that 80's pop music is better than the sh*t that's called pop music today? 80's was a good time of experimentation. Early synth music, techno and industrial, awesome stuff.
The new BLANCMANGE album 'Blanc Burn' is due out on the 7th March 2011 and will be supported by a UK tour. Check out blancmange.co.uk for more details and to download a FREE MP3.
GOD how I love Zbig's work! It's funny how it's in the Art of noise's "Close to the edge" style, these characters breaking stuff while looking firmly into the camera, though telling very different stories in both videos. His video for Etienne Daho's "Bleu comme toi" is also one of my favorites
Would everyone stop with the Flight of The navigator comments? Jeez, a majority of the comments on this vid are about the movie. not even the song. This song is fantastic, and is way better than music of today. In fact, I dedicated this song to my girlfriend, me and her both thought it was a great song for us. (:
How many times can you count when they nearly injured themselves during this shoot? Near braining at 3:03!! These guys were so cool. I love this video! Thank you so much for posting it! : )
I was born in the 80s, but I totally appreciate 80s music even though I wasn't a teenager or older in that decade. I agree that the music was great!! I remember finally finding this song/video a few years ago because I had loved it in "Flight of the Navigator." Thank you for posting it, and thank God for youtube where we can find stuff like this!!
It is more like Peter Gabriel and a little of David Bowie. Peter number three. It is so like the late seventies which makes it so endearing. Okay! So, it is the eighties. Nevertheless, it reminds me of the seventies. Gosh! I love his voice. Can't go wrong with the voice....it is pure gold.
Youtube recommended this to me because I watched a scene in Flight of the Navigator where the kid who'd been gone for eight years ends up in the mid eighties and its freaked out by seeing this on the TV. No wonder they picked this video for the film, it's so 80's and even seems alien to this day. :-)
I'd leave back to the 80's without hesitation, there's no feeling or soul in music or anything for that matter now. It's all so phony. Let me know as soon as you have that ship!
I was searching for THIS band and this SONG but I could not remember (sadly!) Glad I cleaned up last weekend..and found some papers.. I had no idea what heck is blancmange... We all are very lucky to have Google + Youtube! By the way, thank you for posting it!
I read over the internet that disney is readying a remake of "Flight of the navigator". I shit you not. My guess is it won't come out til 2011(just in time for its 25th anniversary) Makes sense to me. Seriously, look it up on google.
OUTSTANDING! I can't get enough of this video. Love the film too. What's wrong with music and TV today that makes it so dreadful? There's no *entertainment* value anymore. Is anyone with me that we don't belong here in 2009? If I had a Trimaxion ship, I would take us back to the 80s.
I was thinking of flight of the navgator the other night and the clip from of this song in the movie came to mind, so I decided to look it up on here. I had never seen this all the way through before,. Thanks for sharing ths is great. Appaarently Blancmange is getting back together again and are currently working on an album! Peace everyone!
Did they mean for the blond guy to half-ass break stuff, its like hes not even trying....if that was the point...very funny....if it wasn't , well its still funny but not as genius
No, No, No, No, No, No I don't want you to go No, No, No, No, No, No I don't want to lose your love Lose your love Don't throw our love away Maybe it's over And if it is don't mind me Saying, it's been a strange love That's carried us there And if it hurts you And if it makes you cry We've had a love, a love to last years Should've pulled us through all of these tears Don't throw our love away
If memory serves- this video was banned briefly because the censors felt that encouraged violent/destructive behaviour in youth experiencing a break-up..what a laugh - p.s. They did get a lot of airplay in Toronto - esp. on cfny when it was still a indie station
This video makes me howl 24 years after the fact. This is one of the first vids I ever searched for on YouTube but it wasn't on back then of course. Thanks for posting it.
