Now we've messed up the middle east and it's time to pull out and let them have their country back. The term freedom has been thrown around by the conservatice goverment so much that it doesn't mean anything anymore. Bush is always talking about preserving "freedom", but has he done a single thing to give us more control over our destinies?
Abolishing the IRS and instituting a national sales tax would be bad for working class people. Virtually every dime low wage workers make would be taxed when buying food ,clothing, as all money goes to
essentials. On the other hand millionaires invest most of their money and would just get richer and richer and pay very little taxes.
I like Ron Paul too because he wants to abolish the IRS and stop the war on drugs/Iraq Dennis wants to stop the Iraq war too. They would make a nice team for sure.
But Dennis would not want to abolish the IRS, unfortunately.
An unregulated free market economy exclusively controls peoples access to health care; it is to expensive for many people. I personally know people who work hard every day and when they are sick they do not get paid and they do not go to the doctor. They do not get medication that you or I take for granted, because they have no money. If you think you can go to the doctor with no money you are out of touch with reality! This should not be the case in the richest country in the world.
In an unregulated free market economy, the individual can take control of their own healthcare. There used to be a time when people in this country saved money for a rainy day, not max out credit card after credit card. There was a belief in sefl-reliance in these matters.
in socialized healthcare the GOVERNMENT will control your access to healthcare. Not a bad deal for a politician who wants to get votes, eh?
Re: ROPdude= We are convinced by all media and Govt sources to extend ourselves to the brink. Never are we taught to "save for a rainy day". Without regulation, the "free Market", corps have only a profit motive, such as in Health insurance. If it costs them $, we don't get "approval". If it saves our lives, we don't get the option. Some access to healthcare, genius.
Dutchoven08: If you knew better, you would never allow youself to be convinced by the media & Government in the first place... genius. Stop bitching about who didn't teach you what, & stop playing the victim. I know how our healthcare works, I don't like it either. If we brought back the original doctor/patient relationship, and could do business with your doc without the Insurance companies as a third person, you could could CONTROL you own access to healthcare.
Libertarians tend to regard governments as a necessary evil, in limiting their function to that of protecting the public's inherent rights, and no more. Granting corporations the right of "corporate personhood" is an example of overstepping that role, since corporations are fictions, and have no claim to such rights.
Being completely anti-government would be the anarchist stance, which is untenable. Somalia is one example of it.
We believe gov't should strictly protect the individuals' rights and their private property rights nothing more or less. Just as our healthcare system is a gentler version of corp-fascism, the gov't should stop getting into bed with corporations and protect the individual's rights.
The moment you exclusively control access to a person's healthcare, the moment you exclusively control that person.
On top of being brilliant, honest, passionate, compassionate, hard working, superbly well informed, steadfast, resolute, DENNIS KUCINICH, the future president of the United States for the next 9 years, is also so WITTY! That thing about "...or you can have a president who is tall, had me as well as the audience at hte debate in stiches!
Check out the you tube vid "Only Dennis". There is a fantastic campaign ad for DK. It gets out all the points, Dennis stood his ground when it mattered as he does every time it counts!
NEW HAMPSHIRE DEMOCRATIC DEBATE SEPT 26, 2007 part 14 Dennis Kucinich, BLEW THEM AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "Gas tax NO!" "02.23.2003: Iraq is about OIL" "Let's have a President who was right about, Iraq!" "Was right about the Patriot Act!" "For a Not for Profit Health Care System!" "OR YOU CAN HAVE A PRESIDENT WHO's TALL" (!) (LOL!!!!! - (He had them all laughing!)) - NO CONTEST! VOTE FOR THE SMART GUY, DENNIS KUCINICH LIGHT UP AMERICA
In Response to a post by "PrayingForWar".. Does your God like killing as much as you do by praying FOR War? Does the Karl Rove spin term "giving Aide and comfort" to Killers make you feel patriotic? Perhaps you think that Giving Aid and comfort means baking brownies for terrorists? GWBushCo has cited any criticism of his policies as giving "Aid and Comfort to the enemy". Some freedom of speech.
This guy Kucinich is our only hope for regaining our liberties, stopping endless wars and protecting the American People from more than just the ever-ambiguous "terror" lurking in every closet or email.
Why is it that when you leave responses to people's comments who support Kucinich, Hillary, Obama... ANY other canidate, you find your response is given a 'negative thumbs-down' with no comment to back it up?
Single-payer healthcare systems are no blessing. They are cost-inefficient, since a great percentage of those funds are lost in bureaucracy, and lack a competitive aspect that would reduce costs and increase quality.
Breaking up health insurance monopolies, to restore the US healthcare system to what it once was, is preferable to giving the state such a monopoly with universal healthcare.
this is NOT true at all. he's against all of the same trade agreements that Dennis is... they are together on workers rights. watch the Michigan Republican debate on the question of Unions and Trade... Ron Paul free trade isn't REPUBLICAN free trade that you've grown used to. It's throw the fucking tea over the side of the boat trade!
Second of all, Libertarians don't hate Government, just the Government of today. The ONLY role of the Government is to secure LIBERTY. Not to feed us, put clothes on our back, TAX US(IRS/Income tax/federal reserve debts are GONE with Ron Paul)... The Founders didn't come here with Government handouts or ANY PROMISE... just determination.
The ideal Government is one that consists of "the People" and is run by "the People" and benefits "the People". If you're not one of "the People", than perhaps you needn't any government at all. Then you get a dose of anarchy. If you can keep that from turning into chaos, best of luck, friend. Till then, I say let's all pay into a national healthcare and benefit equally, together.. just like the rest of the "free world".
Take an example from Canada, where doctors are fleeing in masses to the US, for some semblance of a private system where they will be paid better than what socialized healthcare will offer, but people like you are advocating the same kind of system in the US, instead of wanting to fix the underlying problems that compromised it in the first place, one of them being high insurance rates due to insurance company monopolies.
The alternative to central planning isn't "anarchy", especially when you are taking the constitution into account, which enumerates and protects your basic rights.
Just do your own research into how well nationalized healthcare is working for the rest of the "free world". Hint, it's falling apart. Central planners cannot keep up with a demand that the public itself could supply just as easily, and that kind of planning requires its own overhead. It acts as a bloated middleman in the transaction between patient and doctor.
If Medicare runs at about a 3% overhead to manage it's huge not for profit program, how is the 600 billion/ 40%+ overhead, as profit to the Insurance companies, a better deal for you or me? Are you independently wealthy or something?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
It is not my responsibility to provide for your healthcare or the healthcare of the poor.
If I have the OPTION to opt out of this program and paying for this program, and OPT OUT of the income tax, then great. taking my money for the good of someone else is THEFT.
In response to "it is not my responsibility"t This country is great because it looks out for everyone. Social Security is a prime example. The privatization of the health care insurance has not worked. Most people can not afford it and the medicare program will fail unless it is modified and better funded. Adopting a single payer universal healthcare program under the leadership of Dennis Kucinich will solve the problem. I wouldn't trust just anyone.
The true patriot is motivated by a sense of responsibility and out of self-interest for *himself*, *his family*, and the future of *his country* to resist government abuse of power. He rejects the notion that patriotism means obedience to the state.
Dennis voted against giving Bush the authority to bomb and invade Iraq. He has consistently voted against the mass funding of the Iraq war. He has always said use the money to bring the troops home now. Not just abandon Iraq but work with UN to bring in peace keeping force to stop the slaughter
I'm a brit but I'd vote for Kucinich if I could. Ron Paul claims he never wrote that appalling racist rant after LA riots - hmm. Paul still sounds like a libertarian isolationist to me. Dennis Kucinich is the real deal. And while we are at it, George Galloway for PM!
Ron Paul isn't an isolationist, He encourages free and FAIR trade, just like Dennis. He's against war and funding the war, like Dennis.
Where they differ is on the role of Government in our every day life and the methods of solving problems. Don't get me wrong, I love Dennis, but your analysis was incorrect.
Mirrorspeak: the problem with Ron Paul being a Republican is that the Republicans when in power march lock step with one another, look what a mess they made going 100% along with Bu$hco....even when they knew he was making a big mess, they could not separate themselves to vote as individuals. The Republicans can not be trusted and they proved that.
They vote as a block, and they can not do what is right when the Republican president is the leader of their "block".... we must do all we can to keep any Republican from becoming the next president.
Our "Shadow" government The American Enterprise Institute (PNAC) is the nest where all of the Zio-Con plans to take over the world using the U.S. military are hatched. The list of their members is a who's who of the people in power, many are Israeli/U.S. dual citizens. Ariel Sharon said "We Own America, and they know it"... and yes, we do know it especially when they make it so obvious.
Except for RON PAUL. Really, look at his voting records.
A bill comes to the desk. He opens his constitution. If he scrolls through the constitution and finds a passage that requires he vote yes, he votes yes. Otherwise, no matter what, he votes NO. It is a little dishonest to ignore his record.
Happy Birthday wishes to you Dennis! Wishing you a personal new year of abundance, progress, manifesting all your goals....
Great concept and video. One additional suggestion: include a minute or two of video footage of Dennis actually speaking on issues (preferably in action on the House floor). He's such a dynamic orator; people need to see him doing what he does best--presenting courageous leadership and intelligent ideas to restore sanity to our nation, our world, our humanity.
Some notes on this video for the makers... the speaker could seem more like a news person and less robotic if her hands were visable, and she had maybe some papers on the desk. Otherwise, she should be standing with no desk. Just my thoughts.
Dennis is the best and only hope for honest government. Register and vote in the primaries to insure Dennis will be on the ballot next November. Too, we can help by posting his name and message everywhere. The Zio-Con news media has already elected Hillary who is part of Bu$hco. We can not afford to let her become the candidate on the ballot. Ron Paul is good, but we can not let a Republican be our next president.
I agree with you with the exception of Ron Paul not being a choice because he's a republican. To say he's good but not the right color is so partisan. I'm to the left of liberals but don't care if a candidate is democrat, republican or a republicrat. And what would be bad about a republican like Ron Paul becoming president and leading the republican party on a new and liberal path?
Dennis you knew what I knew about this illegal WAR! Your the only one who I can fully support. I will not Vote for any one who Voted for WAR how blind were you all UUUGHHHH! Impeach!
The prevailing ideology of war and greed should not be replaced by an ideology of peace. Peace must be creative, spontaneous , non-doctrinal and sincere. Peace cannot be a cult, nor smugness nor elitism. It has to be based on respect for traditions and respect for opponents.
I'm a life member of the NRA, for a reason. But I realize that merely owning guns does not provide Liberty. Just watch any "Cops" style show and you'll see the effectiveness of the military style armaments and tactics employed by local law enforcement around the Nation these days. Owning 1 or a hundred guns is still no match for a SWAT entry team backed by a team of corrupted Judges.
Kucinich has not been a strong second amendment opponent. The general "Democrat" position is not in support of the 2nd amendment, unfortunately. Kucinich does, however, aggressively support each and every other amendment that establishes the freedoms of the American people, unlike the Bush/ Clinton forces of the past quarter century.
If you would do a little research on Kucinich, you would find that the Constitution of the U.S. is at his core value. I doubt that he hates the second amendment. Remember that he would need overwelming support from congress and senate to change any amendment. That won't happen.
Look at my followup. I did do the research, and found that he wants a total gun ban for citizens, with the flawed logic that it will prevent violence, when it will just leave law abiding citizens with no means to protect themselves from those that do not follow such a law.
There are at least three issues which I do not agree with Kucinich, but I am still going to vote for him. WhY? Because, through reseaarch, I found that he is willing to listen and find common ground, besides, no one president, can eliminate or change an amendment by himself. It takes the congress and senate also. So, just a suggestion, I would not let that be your determining factor.
How many school shootings involve shotguns? How many people walk the streets with a rifle tucked in their pants? Can you effectively "defend" your home with a handgun? The simple fact of the matter is that handguns are concealable and therefore more condusive to violence. Perhaps it's time to recognize that normal civilians have no use for a 9mm in their closet.
"Kucinich is currently drafting legislation that would ban the purchase, sale, transfer, or possession of handguns by civilians. A gun buy-back provision will be included in the bill."
tinyurl dot com/yr3prp (links to an article on his homepage, can find same page by googling "kucinich gun ban" and seeing first link)
That bill directly infringes upon the people's right to keep and bear arms.
I just lost my enthusiasm for this guy. Anyone who buys into this kind of B.S. law-making is ignorant to human history; don't think for a second our governmant has evolved any differently.
I say it again, G W Bush has supported the ownership of guns while he has gotten rid of every other amendment to the constitution. How 'bout supporting the other 99% of our liberties for a chance? Vote for Kucinich and vote for Peace, Healthcare, Civil Liberties, Freedom Of Speech, freedom from surveillance, and on and on
Our forefathers didn't protest and wave white flags to beat back the Red Coats. They had guns. Every nation that has ever encroached upon the rights of people and fell to fascism started by disarming the people and socializing all aspects of Society... Hugo Chavez just made it illegal to have Breast Implants. This seems like it's not important, but it's the beginning.
The purpose of guns is not to hunt animals. The purpose of the Second Amendment is so that when times like these come, we will rise up and Revolt... That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these Ends, it is in the Right of the People to alter or abolish it, and to institute a new Government, laying its Foundation on such Principles, and organizing its Powers in such Form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.
Okay, how is owning a pistol or shotgun or AR-15 gonna give you safety from a Government with spy satellites, GPS phone tracking, no due process for "suspects", no Habeus Corpus, secrecy the KGB would admire and a private army unaccountable to any authority or laws? Smell the coffee, the days of the 2nd amendment defending all the other rights went away a while ago. Especially when a 20 member SWAT team busts down your door unannounced "by mistake."
As opposed to NOTHING? Be real, man... the constitution says the right to keep and bare arms shall not be infringed... it doesn't get into the minutia--because there is no minutia... it means ARMS motherfucker--not pistols... ARMS. NOT ABRIDGED... that means NO usurpation of this right.
Bush has supported the ownership of guns while he has gotten rid of every other amendment to the constitution. How 'bout supporting the other 99% of our liberties for a chance? Vote for Kucinich and vote for Peace, Healthcare, Civil Liberties, Freedom Of Speech, freedom from surveillance, and on and on
Not only do I agree she should identify herself, but also, I'd like to see her hands. Even if she has a paper in front of her to fiddle with, she seems too formal. It's not what we're used to for anchors.
Not sure I like the harsh cuts either. Switching to video footage or photos will help ease that transition between stories. If you can put a camera on a dolly, swinging it in an to pan across and change positions (as she, maybe swaps a paper out?) will give the transition effect if you don't have clips to show.
I wish there were more statesmen like him. He is highly qualified to become president and thus the leader of the world. I would not say he is twice or a thousand of times more qualified than the the current usuper in the White House, why? Becuase 0 times any number, is stll zero.
I don't know what happened to my original post here.. I did post..but anyway, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO DENNIS! We are counting on Dennis.. we support you all the way!!! I'm getting the word out on Dennis: HOPE AND TRUTH, COURAGE AND PEACE--yes they do work together.
Mr. Kucinich makes me proud to be from America. If every American were to strive toward having half of the insight, compassion, and balls frankly, that Mr. Kucinich has exhibited as a leader...I could go anywhere in the world and not have to claim to be Canadian.
The anchorperson is dynamite. She is both beautiful and articulate. But she needs to introduce herself at the start of each broadcast, as in, "Welcome to the Kucinich report, I'm xxx xxxxx"
Then, at the end, she has to say, "Thank you for tuning in. For the Kucinich Report, I'm xxxx xxxxx." The anchor person introducing themselves is the signal we are accustomed to that indicates when the intro is over and the closing has ended.
On This format- this is a great idea, pro look, however please take to heart the concerned comments listed here. You could use this to craft a "broadcast exclusive interview" and stories that tell Dennis' plans & history in pictures not just one lovely talking head. Feature issues that are not receiving coverage like Global Warming, NAFTA/WTO alternatives and Universal Healthcare that is NOT mandantory insurance and maybe someone in network will turn the camera & spotlight on him.
I would like to see Kucinich as the Dem nominee and Paul as the Rep nominee. Both of them speak truth and are not corrupted by powerful big business. Why does money win over truth? Are the american people stupid or has the media been that good confusing everyone?
That is exactly why neither one will get their party's nomination. Sad but true. I think Dennis would make a great President, but he would really be missed in congress.
I can't accept that as truth. I hope that Kucinich supporters will drop the defeatist attitude and rally behind him 1000 percent. I know that I will do whatever is in my limited power to support Ron Paul. I just can't let the media decide for me anymore.
Happy Birthday Dennis-and here's my present. There is great ads & info pieces being done on your behalf that should be distributed on CD's (cody 10 cents each & tv times as local groups i.e. the (your name here) citizens for Kucinick. Also- plain old word of mouth- take 2 minutes 2 tell 10 people about Dennis.
just as a suggestion to make this weekly update more informative and beneficial to the campaign; when the commentator is issuing a talking point like it being five years of dennis being against the war, you should show audio AND video of dennis speaking out 5 years ago etc. also directing dennis' responses to questions through this forum would be good aswell.
just as a suggestion to make this weekly segment more succesful for the campaign, and more enjoyable and informative for the viewers, when the commentator issues a talking point, such as...
Each video, every public appearance by Dennis Kucinich, is a turn of the screw for better government. Happy Birthday, sir! May you celebrate your birthday-after-next in your family's private quarters in the White House!
The Kucinich Campaign update 10-08-07 was about his positions on the Iraq war, equal rights, and gains with his campaign. I fail to see any "Scientology" about this information.
I am happy to see so many Kucinich supporters online.. unfortunately the majority of american voters will never see these videos or our comments.
I hope you all do your part in dropping Kucinich's name to everyone you know. If you can afford it, donate too so Kucinich can pay for some more widespread advertising.
Hillary has way too many blind supporters. We need to start pushing for Kucinich now!
But the GLBT-standing-thing is WRONG! 'Sexual preference' is like 'religion,' in that government shouldn't touch it. If some guys are gay, but they marry some chick and have some kids; I don't care HOW many boyfriends they have.
Marriage--to the government--is just population fertilizer! Two guys + no ladies = no population growth.
I'll bet the guy's wife would care! If my husband were cheating on me with another man, it would still be cheating, and I'd be devastated on that account. It's much better to let people marry whomever they love instead of forcing them to settle for a spouse who is 'socially acceptable,' making themselves and their partners miserable for their whole lives. Dennis' campaign is SPOT-ON about GLBT support. With as many of us producing kids as there are, we can afford a few non-breeders.
Weekly updates: terrific idea. Getting easily shared Kucinich news into the blogosphere should help his campaign.
But we need to hear Dennis himself talking (in clips from current events). Let the presenter be neutral. Otherwise, no matter how factual the show, it'll play like propaganda, and no sensible person listens to that. Skip the pan across the nice CG set--just get to the data. Put the presenter's hands above the table--hiding one's hands communicates that one is not trustworthy.
Good point, and I'm not even thinking about 'money.' If you want to keep the citizenry thinking that their opinions matter, you need to keep political coverage as 'grassroots' as possible ... especially with Kucinich.
Thank you, Dennis, for being a candidate that we have trust in. I hope that you have an absolutely wonderful birthday with your beautiful wife! Rock on!
Happy Birthday to our next president! I, too, miss the actual presence of Dennis in this spot but we need to have him out there making personal appearances so that people can get to see what he stands for and hear it come from his mouth. He is such dynamite in person that we want as many people as possible to see him. We will keep sending out the word from our homes and emails. God bless Dennis!
Kucinich is the only Candidate on both sides with the know-how and the COURAGE to lead this country out of the mess GW Bush and his friends got us into.
Dennis has been the only man running who can see beyond the illusions and can envision a wise future for our country and world. Next to Dennis, the other candidates appear to be cavemen.
Happy BD, Dennis! I'm a 70 y.o. VOTER retired & living in Thailand, mostly by choice but heavily influenced by the amount of monthly "S.S." checks. America has been embarrassing to many of us "Ex-Pats" for too long. Can't contribute much but you'll have my vote if you're on the ballot! "Chok dee"
I think it would be better if there were actually a clip of Dennis in the video. Also, a lot of the things mentioned were old news 4 years ago, during the last campaign. It might be better if it had something recent, like the statis of the bill Dennis introduced for impeachment. It also felt a little contrived and propagandish.
I think this is a good idea. But it kinda have a propagandish feel to it. Everything of course was true, but perhaps we've become so accustomed to mainstream media lies that when real facts are presented in a news-like setting it seems strange.
I would like to hear real, down-to-earth updates on the progress of the campaign. I don't want to hear 'all is well. we're gaining on the competition. yadda yadda'. I really want an update.
Happy Birthday Dennis! Even if you don't get the nomination (cause we all know the corporations have bought and paid for that one already) I will still be writing you in, so be sure to register as a write in candidate. You NEED to be our President.
Dennis is the only person willing to speak out against corporate interests controlling this country. Hey all you Christians out there, stop yelling for barabas, ie clinton, obama, etc, and start calling for the little guy from Ohio who is not so popular with the greedy millionaires of this country. Believe me, this is the last chance you are going to get. Does your god really want you to elect ANY candidate that does not plan to end WAR????

Kucinich is a threat to military readiness & national security. If he studies, then he knows the purpose of private contractors. His position to have the military take over the duties of private contractors stretches our forces even thinner. Then to advocate a 15% cut across the board for the defense budget is national security suicide.
Dennis is MAGIC! a talisman, a gem, a charm, a blessing, an angel, an inspiration, a scholar, a peacemaker, an altruist, a purist, a patriot, a humanitarian, a brave soldier, a poetic orator, a yogi, a sage, a brilliant mind and an all around BADASS MOFO. Happy birthday. I love you Mister President.
Happy Birthday Dennis and thank you for all your efforts to get our country going in the right track. Just saw an article from a British thinktank whose recommendations for Iraq are identical to your's. Way to go!

Very interesting...

Don't forget any one who registers as a Democrat can vote for Dennis Kucinich to win the Democratic primary.

Ozz04 4 years ago
this is NOT true at all. he's against all of the same trade agreements that Dennis is... they are together on workers rights. watch the Michigan Republican debate on the question of Unions and Trade... Ron Paul free trade isn't REPUBLICAN free trade that you've grown used to. It's throw the fucking tea over the side of the boat trade!
auraldanger 4 years ago
Second of all, Libertarians don't hate Government, just the Government of today. The ONLY role of the Government is to secure LIBERTY. Not to feed us, put clothes on our back, TAX US(IRS/Income tax/federal reserve debts are GONE with Ron Paul)... The Founders didn't come here with Government handouts or ANY PROMISE... just determination.
auraldanger 4 years ago
The ideal Government is one that consists of "the People" and is run by "the People" and benefits "the People". If you're not one of "the People", than perhaps you needn't any government at all. Then you get a dose of anarchy. If you can keep that from turning into chaos, best of luck, friend. Till then, I say let's all pay into a national healthcare and benefit equally, together.. just like the rest of the "free world".
Dutchoven08 4 years ago
Take an example from Canada, where doctors are fleeing in masses to the US, for some semblance of a private system where they will be paid better than what socialized healthcare will offer, but people like you are advocating the same kind of system in the US, instead of wanting to fix the underlying problems that compromised it in the first place, one of them being high insurance rates due to insurance company monopolies.
patch6 4 years ago
Gross oversimplification and false dichotomy.
The alternative to central planning isn't "anarchy", especially when you are taking the constitution into account, which enumerates and protects your basic rights.
patch6 4 years ago
Just do your own research into how well nationalized healthcare is working for the rest of the "free world". Hint, it's falling apart. Central planners cannot keep up with a demand that the public itself could supply just as easily, and that kind of planning requires its own overhead. It acts as a bloated middleman in the transaction between patient and doctor.
patch6 4 years ago
If Medicare runs at about a 3% overhead to manage it's huge not for profit program, how is the 600 billion/ 40%+ overhead, as profit to the Insurance companies, a better deal for you or me? Are you independently wealthy or something?
Dutchoven08 4 years ago
This comment has received too many negative votes show
It is not my responsibility to provide for your healthcare or the healthcare of the poor.
If I have the OPTION to opt out of this program and paying for this program, and OPT OUT of the income tax, then great. taking my money for the good of someone else is THEFT.
auraldanger 4 years ago
In response to "it is not my responsibility"t This country is great because it looks out for everyone. Social Security is a prime example. The privatization of the health care insurance has not worked. Most people can not afford it and the medicare program will fail unless it is modified and better funded. Adopting a single payer universal healthcare program under the leadership of Dennis Kucinich will solve the problem. I wouldn't trust just anyone.
DB300000 4 years ago 2
The true patriot is motivated by a sense of responsibility and out of self-interest for *himself*, *his family*, and the future of *his country* to resist government abuse of power. He rejects the notion that patriotism means obedience to the state.

Dennis voted against giving Bush the authority to bomb and invade Iraq. He has consistently voted against the mass funding of the Iraq war. He has always said use the money to bring the troops home now. Not just abandon Iraq but work with UN to bring in peace keeping force to stop the slaughter
nowellian 4 years ago 2
I'm a brit but I'd vote for Kucinich if I could. Ron Paul claims he never wrote that appalling racist rant after LA riots - hmm. Paul still sounds like a libertarian isolationist to me. Dennis Kucinich is the real deal. And while we are at it, George Galloway for PM!
RSleepy 4 years ago 4
Ron Paul isn't an isolationist, He encourages free and FAIR trade, just like Dennis. He's against war and funding the war, like Dennis.
Where they differ is on the role of Government in our every day life and the methods of solving problems. Don't get me wrong, I love Dennis, but your analysis was incorrect.
auraldanger 4 years ago
Sure I could be wrong. And Kucinich vs Ron Paul sounds good to me (I'm dreaming).

Alohabunny 4 years ago 3
Yeah, Republicans cannot be trusted on their word.
machaveliswifey 4 years ago 2
They vote as a block, and they can not do what is right when the Republican president is the leader of their "block".... we must do all we can to keep any Republican from becoming the next president.
Alohabunny 4 years ago 3
Yes, that is exactly how I feel. I'm tired of the neo-cons and their politics.
machaveliswifey 4 years ago 3
Our "Shadow" government The American Enterprise Institute (PNAC) is the nest where all of the Zio-Con plans to take over the world using the U.S. military are hatched. The list of their members is a who's who of the people in power, many are Israeli/U.S. dual citizens. Ariel Sharon said "We Own America, and they know it"... and yes, we do know it especially when they make it so obvious.
Alohabunny 4 years ago 3
Except for RON PAUL. Really, look at his voting records.
A bill comes to the desk. He opens his constitution. If he scrolls through the constitution and finds a passage that requires he vote yes, he votes yes. Otherwise, no matter what, he votes NO. It is a little dishonest to ignore his record.

Alohabunny 4 years ago 4
I agree with you with the exception of Ron Paul not being a choice because he's a republican. To say he's good but not the right color is so partisan. I'm to the left of liberals but don't care if a candidate is democrat, republican or a republicrat. And what would be bad about a republican like Ron Paul becoming president and leading the republican party on a new and liberal path?

Kucinich is an honest politician, but he needs to realize that we need our guns to prevent people like Bush from establishing total tyranny.
EchelonMonitor 4 years ago 2
I'm a life member of the NRA, for a reason. But I realize that merely owning guns does not provide Liberty. Just watch any "Cops" style show and you'll see the effectiveness of the military style armaments and tactics employed by local law enforcement around the Nation these days. Owning 1 or a hundred guns is still no match for a SWAT entry team backed by a team of corrupted Judges.
Dutchoven08 4 years ago
Why does he hate the second amendment so much?
patch6 4 years ago
Kucinich has not been a strong second amendment opponent. The general "Democrat" position is not in support of the 2nd amendment, unfortunately. Kucinich does, however, aggressively support each and every other amendment that establishes the freedoms of the American people, unlike the Bush/ Clinton forces of the past quarter century.
Dutchoven08 4 years ago
If you would do a little research on Kucinich, you would find that the Constitution of the U.S. is at his core value. I doubt that he hates the second amendment. Remember that he would need overwelming support from congress and senate to change any amendment. That won't happen.
hottdog3 4 years ago
Look at my followup. I did do the research, and found that he wants a total gun ban for citizens, with the flawed logic that it will prevent violence, when it will just leave law abiding citizens with no means to protect themselves from those that do not follow such a law.
patch6 4 years ago
There are at least three issues which I do not agree with Kucinich, but I am still going to vote for him. WhY? Because, through reseaarch, I found that he is willing to listen and find common ground, besides, no one president, can eliminate or change an amendment by himself. It takes the congress and senate also. So, just a suggestion, I would not let that be your determining factor.
hottdog3 4 years ago 2
How many school shootings involve shotguns? How many people walk the streets with a rifle tucked in their pants? Can you effectively "defend" your home with a handgun? The simple fact of the matter is that handguns are concealable and therefore more condusive to violence. Perhaps it's time to recognize that normal civilians have no use for a 9mm in their closet.
trimacian 4 years ago
"Kucinich is currently drafting legislation that would ban the purchase, sale, transfer, or possession of handguns by civilians. A gun buy-back provision will be included in the bill."
tinyurl dot com/yr3prp (links to an article on his homepage, can find same page by googling "kucinich gun ban" and seeing first link)
That bill directly infringes upon the people's right to keep and bear arms.

Dutchoven08 4 years ago
George W Bush supported a semi-auto weapons ban, so he's no supporter of the second amendment either.
patch6 4 years ago
Our forefathers didn't protest and wave white flags to beat back the Red Coats. They had guns. Every nation that has ever encroached upon the rights of people and fell to fascism started by disarming the people and socializing all aspects of Society... Hugo Chavez just made it illegal to have Breast Implants. This seems like it's not important, but it's the beginning.
auraldanger 4 years ago
how about just banning assault weapons? like machine gun type weapons or other automatics?
coke20x 4 years ago
The purpose of guns is not to hunt animals. The purpose of the Second Amendment is so that when times like these come, we will rise up and Revolt... That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these Ends, it is in the Right of the People to alter or abolish it, and to institute a new Government, laying its Foundation on such Principles, and organizing its Powers in such Form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.
auraldanger 4 years ago
Okay, how is owning a pistol or shotgun or AR-15 gonna give you safety from a Government with spy satellites, GPS phone tracking, no due process for "suspects", no Habeus Corpus, secrecy the KGB would admire and a private army unaccountable to any authority or laws? Smell the coffee, the days of the 2nd amendment defending all the other rights went away a while ago. Especially when a 20 member SWAT team busts down your door unannounced "by mistake."
Dutchoven08 4 years ago
As opposed to NOTHING? Be real, man... the constitution says the right to keep and bare arms shall not be infringed... it doesn't get into the minutia--because there is no minutia... it means ARMS motherfucker--not pistols... ARMS. NOT ABRIDGED... that means NO usurpation of this right.

Not sure I like the harsh cuts either. Switching to video footage or photos will help ease that transition between stories.

Two guys + no ladies = no population growth.
mythmanjay 4 years ago

His position to have the military take over the duties of private contractors stretches our forces even thinner. Then to advocate a 15% cut across the board for the defense budget is national security suicide.

With competition like this, maybe commercial media TV should consider lowering their prices.

Happy Birthday Dennis and thank you for all your efforts to get our country going in the right track. Just saw an article from a British thinktank whose recommendations for Iraq are identical to your's. Way to go!
