fellow ft 950 owner, i love mine, I have a question, I ordered a YAESU DVS-6 , now being said thatm i also own a yaesu ft 450. now the 450 came with the recorder feature too, however, the 450 not only lets you record your own voice and transmit it too But get this, it lets you record recieved transmissions and play it back over the air, like if a guy wants to know how his audio sounds you can record him and play it back to him, My question is, can the ft 950 with the DV-6 do that also?
Yes, the ft-950 with the DV-6 unit will allow you to play back the audio to see if you got it right before transmitting but not sure yet if it will record received transmission and record them without using software on the computer, which of course I have done with the FT-950 and it works just fine.
I'm not sure as I did not test it first before updating it.
But...
Per one reviewers opinion on Eham.net, he states...
I have used it side-by-side with a new Kenwood FT-590S for both recent ARRL DX contests (CW and SSB) and for this last weekend's CQ WPX SSB contest. In all cases, I could not distinguish a clear winner; both rigs performed quite well and I would be hard pressed to choose one from the other based solely on their receiver's performance.
An explanation of what the PEP thing does could aid those of us neophytes to understand the concept

I do apologize about this, but I sold the FT 950 and bought an FT 450 Instead.
The 450 is smaller has DSP and tons of features...

Not really sure to be honest. I think it improved reception and a few other minor issues with Firmware.
