  • how many cereal box do you have :)

  • @ibm322 I like cereal =)

  • Just curious, the drift, thinking aloud, would you be able to program it partialy out? That is, when the robot makes a 90degree turn, tell it that it is 1" shifted? just a thought

  • @portblock The shift is variable, so nope.

  • well how?

  • @DoNotuseEbid Use a sharp IR on two scanning servos. See my ERP 3D mapping video.

  • do you know of a low cost way to 3d map the contour of a golf course putting green?

  • @DoNotuseEbid yes

  • this is really interesting, if you have a second create it would be interesting to see two creates with two different destinations =)

    Great job

  • 6:13 Is that your ERP robot

  • yeap, a really old version of it!

  • how to do it?I've just read the tutorial just know on your website.I can't understand

  • whoa thats ace! if mine doesnt know where to go it just slams the wall...

do you reckon this could be done with an arduino? i'm using one for my robot, with customized IR thingies, so i have tons of memory space!

  • The Arduino and the iRobot Create use the exact same microcontroller, the ATmega168.

  • its apity the roombas dont have cameras

  • that can be fixed. ;D

Give me some wiring, a camera, a soldering iron, and 3 rolls of ductape!

  • your vdos are very helpful thanks

  • Ho ho ho ho!

Not a bad presentation; but like any pet

owner; you got to ask yourself "Who has trained whom?"

  • ok tell me if this works lets say the robot detects a pile of books it will say "hey theres something here!" then another robot will come over there and pick up the books lets call this house cleaning mode is this possible?

  • yeap its possible. not easy tho . . .

  • you do that and then the crowd will be easily entertained

  • The army uses advanced sensory for some tank robot they recently made, that can explore and can go around obstacles. Now with this technology we can expect robots to have racional thoughts or at least similar.

  • The things they make!

  • what if you had mulitple distance sensors? You probably wouldn't have to stop to scan for objects, creating a continous motion program. We used the same sensors to follow walls in my classes. Did you use C for your program?

  • Go to my site and look for a robot called 'Fuzzy' and another called 'Hyper Squirrel', its exactly what you are talking about.

  • great work . that is also how my k-9 understands it's surroundings . good to see s.o.r. representing on youtube :)

  • Hi... i had almost the same idea for the algorithm.. i would like to make my mom's eletrical catch into a robot to clean a entire room... but I didnt start to develop because i have some doubts... i would use a robot size map too and I would now if the robo crossed a map area by the energy necessary to move the robo one robot-size forward... my doubt is, how am i sure that the robot moved one robot-size??

    thanks in advance

  • The robot will drift over time, there is no way to avoid it. You'd have to have some type of global marker setup, like beacons, to remove drift. Not easy stuff . . . check my site for tutorials on robots.

  • this is pretty neat. I'm currently working with a create in my robotics class, and we just recently got servo motors, so with this, I can simply rotate the sensor rather than the entire robot to search for objects.

Thanks for the idea. Also, why is it so slow? Is it because of the limitations of the Create's memory.

  • Its slow because the Create has low accuracy encoders, small memory (map of 15x15 grid maximum), and sharp IR speed limitations . . .

  • really great robot navigation.I am a reseach student in india trying to build a map (SLAM way).I truly appreciated your idea. Can you guide me regarding my project..Please help me genius

  • Hi.. Friend.. U r from where in India.. I m also..a robot Enthusiast in India,Nashik,Maharashtra..So we can shair the ideas with each other.Pls.. if u want than giv me the E-mail.

  • Absolute genius.... Please keep contributing your ideas, they are greatly appreciated. I am asking the wife for a Irobot for Xmas :)

  • cool ima start using ur videos and advice to make robots and in a couple of years use the irobot create to make a big crazy robot, but not for like 5 years

  • great job! Very cool. Thanks for posting.

  • Well done Palmisano. That's awesome!
