i was attacked by wasp last summer i was stung 15 times cuz i ran over a nest with a lawn mower i saw one fly on my hand and i was like "shit" and it stung me and i was like well what ever. then i saw like 5 on my shirt i attempted to turn of the mower but i tried and then ran but then i saw the mower was still going foward so i had to run back while being stung and then i tried to go in the shower but long island's power was out so i was just stuck swatting wasps and getten stung in my house :(
wasps regulary try and steal honey out of bees nests and bees that get stung by the wasps end up on the floor outside the nest where there prayed on by other wasps !
So let me get this straight.... Al Gore and David Suzuki are blaming humans for the loss of bee population from Global Warming when really it's these vile assholes of the insect world killing them off?
Solution: deplete the wasp population. (I know that's easier said than done)
@FoamKittyGame that was really clever you brainstorm!!! of course you know the invention of the paper made from chinese saw the wasps chewed wood to make their nests. also among other stuff wasp do (bad stuff, but humans do worst stuff and whereas they know they do bad they keep on doing it (!?!?!) ) wasps can effectively transport pollen and therefore contribute for the pollination of several plant species, being potential or even efficient pollinators. i 'm a beekeeper but first i am a human..
@Nibiru128 i didnt think wasps were bees from what i learnt wasps are a half way between a ant and a bee and exist in there wn colonys not in bee colonys
Please stop calling it a honeybee when it is a species of hoverfly, as people have said again and again.Look at the shape of the head, look at the moutparts, body and wings.
There is NO BEE in this video< repeat it with me now.. H O V E R F L Y! that can be you mantra for today.
@eatingtolive20 Perhaps you are getting thrown off by the fact it's a drone rather than a worker honey bee. I'm a beekeeper and I filmed this in a roof with 20+ hives. It's most certainly a honey bee. The most simple to identify distinguishing feature that separates bees from flies is the antenna. The antenna of a fly is just a stub, while bee antenna are longer.
@Wellington5392 I've put together this slide show which covers ccd: flickr.com/photos/7953357@N06/sets/72157626711774242/show/ you may also want to check out the movie 'queen of the sun'
@CannibalMelon Well it was taken in our bee yard where there are over 20 honey bee hives. The fat furry one is certainly a drone honey bee. The attackers have fairly long antennae which suggests it's not any sort of fly.
If only Hitler had a hatred of wasps, we could all rejoice as we send train loads of these bastards to his wasp camps.

I never before saw this... That's a hard arms race with a tiny winner; in fact Hymenoptera are survivor machines. Thumbs up!

Are they especially bad in Autumn/Fall?
Nesaru 3 months ago
@Nesaru No especially in Summer
DirkvDusseldorp 3 months ago
@DirkvDusseldorp
Interesting. During summer in Tasmania, they're not very active, but in Autumn... yikes. They were everywhere (it was dangerous to eat outside).
Thank goodness for our frighteningly long stingered hornets that apparently eat wasps.

@Nesaru Hmm not so fast, hornets aren't such qute guys either
