oi yank if its that easy why do we find people like you getting a lift in an RAF chopper well the ones that are still alive that is please remember whare you came from (BRITTIAN ,EUROPE MAYBE..only common scence and a little knowlage keeps us alive.
Thanks for your reply Mike. I'm sure you have some great country up in Yukon and NWT (I made it to Northern BC and southern Alaska a few years back and would love to return some day.)
One thing about having such few wild places in UK is that they do get treasured - Like graham, I tach map reading and I find peoplee just love to develop the skills to take themselves deeper into the country than they ever before.
Hi Mike. Of course it all depends at which point you chose to walk acros Scotland - but it would take more than a day at any point. For the Southern Uplands Way which does ago across coast to coast I think people allow over a week.
Signposts are fine if you are following a marked track but I for one prefer to plan my own routes and get away from the well worn paths (and those many people you refer to).
OMG. Your in Britian or Europe. You can leave the map at home and follow the sign posts. If that doesn't work as the directions from one of the thousands of people your likely to run into. In the very worse case scenario follow one of the roads for 30 minutes your sure to run into a village of some sort.
Are you a complete idiot? Thats the attitude that have gotten people killed over britain and caused countless unnescary mountain rescue call outs. You do that and when you moan to MR, they can leave you and you can think how you should have respected the outdoors a bit more
I am in Spain at this instant. You are fucking crazy if you cannot walk out of any situation in this part of the world. Talk about a bunch of pussies. For fucks sake either don't get lost and I have a hard time wondering how you could with a farm/village sheep/info center every 200 meters. Cowboy up mother fucker!
The weather in spain is barely ever bad. How do u navigate when the mist comes down in britain and you can barely see five feet in front of you. Im not comparing the uk to canada in terms of how wild it is, iv been to banfff and i know, but the fact is, with the crap weather in the uk means people die in the hills, maybe you should try being dropped in the middle of scotland, in shite weather, and lets see you navigate yourself out without a map before hypothermia gets you
Banff is not really wild. There is this thing called Darwinism if you die of exposure in Britian then you have become a graduate of the school of Darwinism. You would have to have two glass eyes and a pea for a brain to get lost in scotland. Besides I would just catch the closest sheep cut it open and crawl inside just like we do with buffalo hrere when we are missing our mommies and can't get home for supper. What part of "cowboy up do you not get"
Have you ever been to the uk, cos if you had you'd know that with our shite weather you can get lost. Our MR teams pick up loads of your lot because they have a "cowboy" attitude and they A: cant navigate, or B:aren't able to get off the hill beacuse theyre lazy. Maybe we should leave them next time, and only rescue those who repect the outdoors. For a so called mountain guide i would thought you would respect the outdoors a bit more.
maybe you should leave a few to die a slow miseable death. Anybody who gets lost in this part of the world is to stupid to go on living. They most certianly should not be breeding with the general population as this just lowers the quality of the species. You should have another pint and stick to your armchair mountaineering.

Getting stranded and perishing in England is slightly more probable than Belgium. People dying in English hills should have never left the city.
