@SuperSuprastar When Japan launched the supra, rx7 and skyline r32...33they were looking for a way to make all cars competitive for one certain race, where they were all limited to 276bhp....always wondered why on some ps games they had the same hp....funny enough they said the rx7 always had less hp but was extremely fast...they also said the supra had the strongest engine and could do a turbo upgrade to double the hp of the motor without even opening the motor once...

a 2jz has a lot more potential than the the rb26, yes, stock, the 2jz in any car (supra or is300) would lose to a stock rx7. the restrictor can be bypassed, but thats not the point. that 2jz can , with a bit of work, withstand so much more pressure than the rb26. , the 2jz is a lot stronger of an engine, therefore more potential. the supra didnt have much more than basic mods in this vid. and neither car was anywhere near 1k hp. id say little over 500 for both tops

@SuperSuprastar - Bro the rx7 is waaaaay more restricted than the supra... the only thing holding an rx7 back is its crappy 5speed tranny. with minor bolt ons the rx7s are running low 11's on street tires with 10lbs of boost on stock twins. its called power to weight ratio. the rx7 held the fastest 1/4 mile time for a stock body full interior vehicle for 8 years, and the land speed record for stock body full interior for 6. Lets not takl about handeling, rx7 was the first to pull 1lateralG stock

@SuperSuprastar Toyota never put restrictors on the 2JZ. Just because an engine has the potential to do more than the factory settings allow means nothing. The RB26 is a perfect example. Remap the ECU without modifying anything and you can get close to 400hp from just over 300 (factory says 275hp due to an automaker gentlemen's agreement in the late 80's early 90's). At factory settings both of these cars should be close. Curb weight the same, Supra more torque, RX7 higher redline. Both 275hp.

I wouldn't give it a set number for when the seals will go bad. Do something wrong and it could go out on you in 2000 miles, do everything right and there shouldn't be any reason why it wouldn't last as long as any other car. I personally think its all about how well you take care of the car.

@therealrockondon I had my seals upgraded to 3mm seals and I've been pushing 400rwhp and racing it on the occasional weekend. Just passed 100k on my engine. I've seen stock ones last well past 100k, and the longest I've ever heard one lasting is 250k on RX7club.com. The engine's are like any euro exotic engine. You take good care of it, put good gas and oil through it, it'll last you for years. How many piston engines you know that push over 250bhp and last that long? Not many. Your car's good.

The 320 hp - 280hp thing is a myth. All supras came with 320-326 hp, it's just that in japan there was an agreement not to build a car over 280 hp. But all tested stock supras (twin turbo) pushed out the same. So toyota amoung others told a white lie to apear to honour the "gentelmens agreement" of the time. Uk cars did have some better spec tho. 4 pot front brakes over 2 pot jap and steel turbo fins and bigger injectors- both versions have advantages tho :)

@sircygnus well for ur information my fc is a 88 se the lowest model of the rx7 0 options just a raido....all the raido stuff is gone including the stock amp. no carpet from the seats back removed all emissions and extra pumps. air pump p/s a/c. the stock se only weighs like 2400 lbs. stright pipe exaust and converted from 4 lug to 5 lug cause the lowest of the low had 4 lug...also is turbo with out the sometimes heavy tii hood. so lightest version - lots of shit + turbo = still light as shit

Do some small mods like - Performance spark plugs - Putting performance fuel in it - Get your engine checked out to make sure it's running smoothly - Put some performance K&N Air filters in. All that will help you mate.
