You are actually not 100% right. you have to make your lips like a pillow for the mouthpiece. If you "smile" while you are playing your lipp muscles will get worn out faster. and if you fill your whole stomach with air and blow. it will make sound even then. The vibration thing is something you learn after you know how to do it.

From this vid, the potential problem arising could be that you don't intake enough air to create that vibration, and expect the lips to do all the work. In this case, that is incorrect. The air is the majority of the vibration, while the lips buzzing is the product. It might not be noticeable, but it is what is. That is the physics of playing the trumpet. And people, please don't judge my thinking from my YouTube page. I've been playing trumpet for a long time, so I know what I'm talking about.

Yes, the lips buzzing is a part of it, but mainly the sound is created by the air waves when you blow into the trumpet. Vibration is created, and it goes to the bell. Meanwhile, that energy is reverberated back toward the lips to create different partials. You create tight lips, and blow through them. The buzzing is the product of the vibrations the trumpet creates.
