The only way to explain the zoom is HACKS. Blizzard doesn't allow you to zoom out that much for a reason. If anyone is asking how to zoom out that far, don't bother - you're not supposed to.

The macro for resetting the max camera distance is:

/console CameraDistanceMaxFactor 1

/script SetCVar("cameraDistanceMax",50­)

Blizzard allows you to zoom out to 50 MAX, PERIOD. Just like you said (except you were a dick).

If you change CameraDistanceMaxFactor such that CVar cameraDistanceMax is > 50 wow will reset it when you logout or reload the ui so that CVar cameraDistanceMax will never exceed 50.

Try it .. 50 is the max ppl !

You also don't really have to kill the big drake, you can just pop Hero/BL and nuke the boss straight away...that's how my guild does it at least and we aren't really having any problems :P

an improvement to these guides would be to focus on the animation of the abilities that you're describing... like i can't tell the difference between "boss does his aoe" and "boss does his other aoe" from the vids. would be helpful to zoom in and slow down and point...

otherwise these guides aren't really much more helpful than just jumping into the encounter blind and learning from wiping.

still, great work guys, but again, focusing on the actual animated elements would be a huge help.

My guild is on this boss right now. We are 2 healing with myself as a holy priest and a holy pally. The damage just seems to be too much. But if we 3 heal the dps isn't high enough. We are a small guild and we only raid 2 nights a week but are doing pretty well with progression on our realm. Just can't seem to figure out what we are doing wrong with this fight. Not sure if it is a gear issue or what is going on.

@brthevio well, if DPS low then gear I suppose. I would think you would need 3 healers for this. I would think a Druid would be best as your 3rd healer. Our guild are also on this boss.

@HARV3YHAN5RA Yeah, I am not sure, maybe we just have too many people who haven't quite gotten the mechanics of the fight down. We 2 heal Ultrax and don't have a problem downing him. I am going to go this week as disc instead of holy and see if the bubble procs will help. None of our dps are poorly geared. Everyone is high 370's minimum for ilvl. I think it is just when we got to this fight it was close to end of raid time, everyone was tired, just too many things working against us.

@brthevio Update to this, we downed him shortly after I posted this comment. I went Disc and we 2 healed it. Was so pissed we spent time on it. Everyone kept saying you can't raid heal as Disc. However, since I went Disc all the time, it's made all of the fights easier. Thanks for the great guides.

Disarming the tank's target prevents that add from useing its ability. I was able to keep the same add (as a warrior) by keeping my disarm on CD. My DoT fell off after 3 stacks and the disarm was just long enough to allow for a reset of the DoT.

(at least, thats how it was on the PTR's, alone the blast cant ever do enough to kill everyone, although it can bring you low enough to be comboed)

I'm amazed at how few small purple swirlies you guys got during phase 1.  Even when we killed him, the boat was flooded with them. We did 3 heal it, but we're also fully heroic geared and have amazing dps. I guess the difference in killing drakes that much faster makes up for the loss of healing.

@BlueDeathFire yeah same with me. we had about 30 wipes on him (they were like 1-2 minute attempts) and we just get swarmed with the mini swirlies. we only had 2 ranged switch to the drakes, which is probably why. tomorrow we are going to have everyone switch to them, and hopefully we dont get many swirlies :)
