  • My blender version havent UV Face select mode O_o

  • How do you do this without using the "U" hotkey because it looks like that's no longer the right key.

  • oh haha i didn't see the comment at top, saying bout u vmappined has gone in to edit mode ops

  • I'm wondering If I should downgrade to 2.49, The GUI is so complicated, something Blender needs to fix. Also anone know where I can download the blender engine?

  • I have no "UV face selecte" there :-(

  • @CRANKboy2121 Same :(

  • @LeBronFilms UVFACE SELECT : it was merged in Edit mode. spilt 3d view, change 2nd window to uvmapping. change the 3d view to edit mode (tab). change from vertex select mode to face select mode in 3d view window. select the face you want to uv map Press U click unwrap. now in the uv mapping window the face you selected/unwrapped should auto be selected.. Scale it down.. carry on watching video. hope this helps i am still a Noob, just few things i have picked up in the last 24-48 hours

  • you're so soft spoken I can't understand what you say!! shift right click the WHAT? Why can't you be clear? It's just TOO FAST no matter how many times I replay that part of the video. Useless.

  • A new video is recommended for the new version of blender. That reel doesn´t help me.

  • Awesome. I do this to simulate books and DVDs in the game engine.

  • Fuck yes. Cheers man

  • Fuck yes, That final 20s is what i needed. Cheers man!

  • how to make that with meta objects?

  • Very good one and crispy too! For those who are asking about the "FACE SELECT Mode", you will find it in EDIT mode, locate the triangle icon [shortcut Ctrl-Tab-3].

  • i did all the steps but my blender doesnt have the UV face select option

  • This has really helped me out with texturing, thanks :)

  • Thank you very much

    it is so useful

can I ask you a question about uv mapping? I need to do uv mapping for the whole scene with all the objects in it. I could do uv mapping for each object apart but not the whole scene, because I need to export the whole scene at once to MD2 file and render in opengl. the scene was already imported from 3d max to blender

    many thanks in advance

  • Hmm this tut could be useful for learning how to import models into meshes on UDK since you have to unwrap and break the model down to then import it with the add-on Python saved file format udk accepts for imported meshes.

  • holy crap dont mean to be rude but thought you were auctioning something off the way you were talking so fast slow down.

  • Thanks your Help!!!............. : )

  • there is no uv face select!

  • @thecopykidofthestarz

Ye exactly... i have blender 2.48b and i havent any uv face select...only 'texture painting;/// how can i get this option ? :(

  • what the hell, i made a sword, and when i choos on face on the sword and try to add an imageto it the image becomes super stretched out... why?

  • you may or may not know how to help me with this, when i try to save my uv map in i go to scripts window then to uv to try to save it and there isnt any scripts there. Can someone please help me with this?

  • the uv face selects not there???

  • Comment removed

  • @orelero

Ok, when u press "U" it remains the same but the texture isn't updated in the 3D view like in the video.

  • It's soo simple but if you don't know it, you can look for it for ever :P

    So thnx for the tutorial!

  • Talk slower!!!!

  • Sick tutorial just what I needed, thanks a billion times!

  • 2.49

  • Great tutorial :D

lol I just got that gfx card hehe

  • helped me loads man! thanks a lot!

  • Good tutorial man, thanks for keeping it short and sweet.

  • Yuo can use CamStudio to record your videos, is freeware

  • THANX

  • when im about to change the object mode to UV face Select, i dont see any option saying UV face select

  • In newer version it looks like UV Face Select has been removed, if I were unwrapping this cube I would use Edit Mode to select the top face, hit 'u' on the keyboard and a menu pops up for unwrapping, try "Unwrap" in this menu.

  • thats what i usually do :)

  • The new version of blender dosnt have UV Face Select anymore, All you have to do, is go into edit mode (tab), select the face you want to map, then push (U) then Unwrap, you will see your face appear in the UV Image Editor...

Now you can scale / move / rotate to your desired effect

  • if i press unwrap it doesnt work but the project from view does, aslong as i select the points to make the face in edit mode :D

  • u don't just unwarp....first select the material and them ctrl+E select mark sean the unwrap it....

  • thanks its a really old question but ive done it :)

  • hey no problem just answered.....lol:P

  • :D thanks, nice to know someone replied still :D plus the way you explained it is the different to the way ive being doing it lately so i might give that a try :)

  • hey no problem...glad i could help..

  • @DeadtotheBone Thank you SOOOOOO much!!!! I was like "... Where is that button?"

  • ya me too i don't see any UV face select......which blender version are u using.....any ways we can also do that by selecting the mesh and then ctrl+E then select the mark seam option...then click U and select Unwrap...here it is...U have it...

  • yeah, i realized that

    blender rules :D

  • Very stupid question, I get everything else, but how do I move the canvas of the UV window around? Eg. for the 3D window you use C to center view and such, but how do I do it in the UV window?

  • hold alt and then click and hold left mouse button

  • Allright, thanks a lot :)

  • np.

  • I can't load up a picture... (I have a more up dated one) Which button rather then image aplies a picture?

  • Never mind. It was just hidden in an arrow :]...

  • Nevermind again... The image doesn't open up even though I did the same thing as in the video...

  • How would you do this if you just wanted to apply a texture to one face (like the front of a box) rather than every face?

  • u would only salect the face that u wonted to do that to and only unrape it

  • Guys, now instead of the UV face select mode. In newer versions of blender you simply go into edit mode and hit 'U'

the exact same menu pops up

    hope that helps

  • grrreat stuff! thanks it helped alot!

  • ♫Drag to a desirable location....♫ lol.

  • how do you get textures you show in the game engine?

  • Nice. Hey dude I was wondering if you could creat the same tutorial for 'Blender 2.48' because its quite different there is no face select mode.

  • there's a face select mode in 2.48? I have it. You have to be in edit mode, select the object, and click on the triangle icon. that is the face select?

  • What triangle? the one next to the hand symbol? ive tried that, didnt work

  • nope. in EDIT mode, its the to the far right of the drop down bar that says GLOBAL. There are 3 pictures. The first is of 4 dots (verticies mode), the second is two parallel lines (edge mode), and the third is a triangle (face mode). ^ . ^

If you hover the mouse over the tabs, it will tell you what they are. Hover it over that triangle, it will say FACE SELECT MODE.

  • i had to watch that over a few times to get all the info because you talk really really fast but thanks man great tutorial !

  • v 2.47 doesnt hav UV face option

    wat to do???

  • go to edit hit u then hit unwrap

  • wow...great tutorial...many thanks

  • this is the most clear and intelligible tutorial I've seen so far

    keep it up...

  • Went pretty fast with that, but it helps. Will just have to watch it a couple of times to actually GET it. ^_^

    Thanks

  • :( sorry man... try putting &fmt=18 in front of your address in the address bar it will make the video play in higher res so many you wont miss whatever you may have missed...

  • do you know how to do it in 2.46? 2.46 dosnt have UV face select

  • never mind, it seems all i had to do was select faces in edit mode, which is much simpiler.

  • Indeed :)

  • lol vic romano

    hahahaha i love MXC!

  • That was really cool. I didn't know you could break it down and munipualte the sides like that. Thanks and keep making more of these. Also, a small request, could you show how to uv wrap a flat map onto a sphere, like a globe. My globes have two images on each side and unable to rotate it, because of a black line going around breaking the two images. Thanks! :o)

  • Great tutorial. I started getting into UV Mapping about a week ago and usually what I do is take a .tga of the map, drop it into Gimp, texture it then load it up in Blender. This is a pretty awesome technique though, seriously would have never thought of doing that lol. Can't wait to see your next one, hopefully it's about how to properly lay out Seams so that your mesh unwraps how you want it to cause I'm having a bit of an issue with that.

  • there will be a tutorial on that very soon!

im actually thinking about uv mapping a Orcs

head that i am working on and might use has an

intro in my Videos and or a Tutorial!

if you like my videos please subscribe!

  • That would definitely make a cool intro!

Once again, can't wait for your next tutorial and you have a new subscriber lol

  • @3DMacDaddy Hey, is it possible to use more then one, image for a model?? or do all the textures have to be on one image like u had in the video?
