  • This song is acually just"Cherokee Shuffle". Lost Indian is commonly confused with/thought to be the same song as cherokee shuffle.Cherokee shuffle is in the key of A and lost indian is in the key of D.I can see how the first part might be confused to the casual listener, but the second part is completely diffenent. If you search "lost indian" in you tube a version of Doc Watson, Tony Rice, and Norman Blake playing lost indian should be the first result.Hope this helps clear up some confusion :-)

  • @plumriveropry Also, one of them is not "Square"... the number of measures doesn't come out the way that Contra Dancers like it, because of the "B" part, where it goes to a minor, I think.

I can't recall whether it's Lost Indian or Cherokee Shuffle, that Contra Dancers dislike, but THEY can certainly tell the difference, or so I've been told by Contra Dancers. (I'm not one myself).

It's a shame that a lot of people think the key is the only difference between the two tunes.
