  • is this an fps as in first person shooter cause it looks more like an rpg to me?

  • You should make it to where you can pick up extra swords, and do either some, none, or all of these things: A. be able to sheath the extra swords just in case one of them breaks B. use 2 swords at one time C. combine whatever sword you pick up with the one you have to make an even stronger/faster/awesomer/doubl­e bladed/futuristic/sharper sword. D. make the ladders knock down-able and the zombie's not able to put them back up. E. in the beginning have a zombie chained in your room. DIE ZOMBIE

  • dude if you dont scrap the project you could make a pretty fine game with it. and i think your allowed to sell projects u make i think if not ask the blender CEO if you can have a licence to sell what you make.

  • You can sell whatever you want made from Blender. You can even sell the program if someone wants to buy it (it's free of course). Some people do sell it unfortunately...

  • Maby use GSL texturing? adds realtime and dynamic lights and shadows

  • It is GLSL(OpenGL Shading Language), not GSL, and it is a shading language. You have to program your own shaders for different effects, you can't just turn it on, but the person who made this video should make some shaders for this game.

  • well, u dont need to make a tutorial, but i have 2 questions:

    1. how do you make it so you can pick up the sword?

    2. How do you make an fps game where you dont walk straight through walls?

  • 1. parent the sword to the camera when you pick it up.

    2. Add dynamics to the objects. This will make is so there is collision between the different meshes. Don't set dynamic for the enviorment or else your whole level will fall...

  • as you can see, the dude picked up the sword. AKA: you can pick up weapons such as guns.. but he chose to wield a sword in this demo.

  • ive answered you on your mail, anyway it should be a normal problem, just Reverse them, cant remember the hotkey right now, but if i remember well was something like Normals/Reverse in the menu :)

    ive started using blender at the beginning of this year, and i had never used any 3D program before, while i used for some years Photoshop (this has helped me a lot for the textures)!

    more or less i can say ive started using BGE and then creting this demo during february, and ive finished it in april / may, then ive spent one more month or maybe 2 for the animations, shadows, sounds and other things as u can see in the other 2 videos in my page

  • thanks. im only new with blender. ive had it for a couple of weeks and im doing some tutorials. Where did you start in this like did you make the environment first a then the character and objects?

  • exactly, starting from a cube then creating the room, after that continuing to extrude the room for the outside.... when ive noticed that ive reached a good environment place, ive started creating the object ive put inside it

  • Im not great at blender but i learned how to use the game engine lately. So far i am only able to make racing games and mazes. I have a few questions. How did you spread the textures so wide on the ground? how did you attach the sword to the screen? and how do you make enimies that attack you? or any enemies at all :L. Thank you.

  • 1) ive uv mapped the ground, just like everything else in the video

    2) the sword seems attached to the screen because is parented to the main character mesh, and it goes in that position thanks to an ipo animation, activated when u are near enough to the sword (with a near sensor)

    3) ive just rigged the model and animated, the attacks are just made by me pressing keyboard buttons, there is not any AI at the moment, it will required some time for me to being developed :)

  • omg this looks great, i would definately play this. if you need some advice for the enemy models, I suggest using simple and quick ones for the weaker enemies. And for the bigger(stronger) bosses i would spend a lot more time on those. anyway it looks awesome

  • The essence of your game is definitely there although it is obviously not finished, no need for me to point out the obvious. It is - chilling. Any chance you could make us a good tutorial on this?

    i think you should speed the game up a bit.

    faster movements and speed of the carackter.

    it's just a feeling i have...

  • the character movement is something i wish to adress better adding the run with the Shift button, i will work on this as soon as more important things are done.

  • warling666: can you tell me how you use parented emties for the ipos of a single object?

  • ive parented the mesh i want to animate to some empties, then i apply the animation on the empties, not on the mesh, doing like that, being the mesh parented to empties, is moving with them at any frame.

    In this case ive 4 empties for the sword: grab empty, up and down movement when walking, attack, and defence, sword is parented with this empties, and they are parented with the main chatracter following him, there are 4 inputs, starting 4 differents ipos animation.

    for laxwolf: i havent used any python scripts, the weapon pick up is just made with an ipo animation, activated by a "near" sensor, its a bit complicated ive used meshes replacing and a some parented empties, one for each animation.

  • but how did you get the look around thing with out any python?

    for the camera movement ive used 2 scripts

  • when u go to texture the object press Y and pick light, it will make your textures have shadows and than use UV color to make it darker and scarier! Just trying to help...
