I don't see this annoying comparison with Patti Smith. Seems like a lot of peeps just parroting what they've seen or read somewhere. PJ has far more variety in her music, and her voice sounds nothing like Patti's. Furthermore Patti tended to indulge in long improvisations of songs lasting several minutes. PJ's songs even when performed live hardly last much over 4 minutes. She rarely allows a guitar solo in a song.So where's the similarity?

wow this takes me back. her legendary concert at slim's in s.f. (s.f. is the best for concerts cuz many artists before they "officially" begin their tour do the first date there, then finish their tour with their last date there, so u can see 'em twice. pj harvey's 1st u.s. tour was no exception to that. unfortunately too many artist o.d. on the pure heroin there too!
