  • I really love your work! Do you custom build as well?

  • thanks for sharing great video :) keep up the great work! Thanks for not being greedy God bless you.

  • thanks for sharing great video :) keep up the great work!

  • great job on these. we've developed some very cost effective off grid technologies to be used with ISBU based construction. looking to build a demo in Haiti now. Let us know if you're interested in exploring synergy.

  • Overall I thought it was nicest i've seen.

Just wondering about storage. I think I would eliminate the 2nd bedroom and

add a closet to the other bedroom.

  • @MtnMarks It is now one year past you have posted your comments, i hope you will read now, if i have this container, i will build a wooden sloping roof on the roof, which will cool the container and will give enough space for storage.

  • this is one of the more attractive container home's ive seen. This could deffinatly solve alot of problems such as housing the homeless, I am looking at doing some form of housing in this catagory for myself and my boyfriend. The container houses are also VERY strong and durable and can stand up to even hurricane force winds according to some makers of this type of housing. Cant wait to get my own!!!

  • I think it's high time there is a movement towards this type of housing. If the people force the issue with the local powers-that-be and bring attention to this great alternative it would solve A LOT of problems. You can make these units attractive (interior & exterior), self sustaining, green and portable. The configurations can be lent to any design/size of housing. THe possibilities are limitless. The only thing limited are the current LAWS.

  • To keep it from heating up due to the metal outside use Ceramic paint. It's cheap, can be mixed to any color and is added to the paint and then sprayed on. They are using it on roofs to keep the shingles from conducting heat thus making the roof hot.

  • @MimiZ914

First time I have heard of Ceramic paint. Good ideal though.

I heard some poela have used stucko on the shipping container home. I've also seen one with brick over it on some site.

  • If you find restrictions with your local building codes there are things you can do to challenge them. 1. make this a mobile home 2. Make it totally off grid. 3. Apply for a Certificate of Occupancy with your local building code official. The strict building codes are to protect the integrity of the neighborhood but also it's another way of keeping people out of affordable housing. It's time that people band together and challenge these disempowering laws.

  • @MimiZ914

    You got that right.

In this day and age no one should be homeless.

North America is one of the wealthiest nation on the earth but yet there are still homeless people there.

  • When will you be able to ship to the USA? These are very impressive...

  • Very soon. We are working on the details. Where do you live and which product are you interested in?

  • I wish the building codes in certain areas werent so damn strict here in the US. I would love to live in one of these and make my home totally off the grid...awesome job!

  • @sorryociffer

Or you can build one yourself with a shipping container.

    Cheers!

  • Fantastico. Realmente!

  • no you only need ceramic additive to the paint to deflect the heat

  • The only way to control the inside temperature is to do the following:

    1. Build an A-frame roof to reflect the sun.

    2. Paint the container with a high R-Factor paint.

    3. Installing high grade insulation.

    4. Proper placement of the home in regards to the path of the sun.

    5. Placement of shade trees, etc around the home.

  • If air vents are placed low and other vents are placed high then a natural chimney effect will take place, if the lower vents are placed on the north side then the air should be cooler helping to naturally cool (passively) the interior a little.

  • you should gogle Bob Vila container homes, they are building in Florida. They Use Ceramic Paint it has like an r40 factor

  • I know that Costa Rica's climate is hot and humid. How can you control the teperature inside the container?

  • I imagine it could get quite hot. Would probably be a good idea to paint the outside white (to better reflect the sun) and even consider setting a tarp up above it to help shield the unit from direct sunlight. Very nice, by the way.

    Saludos.

  • I have my 40 feet container and will be posting my results the sun heats it up to hot but check my future videos i will update my progress

  • How efficient is it?

  • Where is this container house located in Costa Rica? May we schedule a visit?

    Thanks

  • That is a very nice container home. I love it.

  • how long is this container

    20 or 40 feet?

  • Sounds great. Congrads. Keep me posted.
