  • I had a discussion with a raven just today. He was flying somewhere in the forest making that regular high-pitched sound. Then it landed on a treetop — I still couldn't see it. I was on a small open spot in the forest. Then he changed his sound into a creepy, two-parted low crow, which I've never heard before. After that it turned into a laughter-like bursts of "hahahahahaha". Then it revealed himself, flying slowly above me, making the coolest sound yet; a set of laser gun-like "pleookh!"s.

  • I love the sounds they make talking to their babies and mates; as EcoRover calls it - "quork". Really strange but amazing sound

  • Chatted with my local raven gang this morning as they made their dawn flight from the roost and passed over my house. Next time either the gang or the local mated pair sets up a con-fab outside my office window, I want to play to them some raven recordings like yours. I occasionally quork back from my office window, they seem to enjoy the chat.

  • @EcoRover Ravens seem to notice the attention and enjoy getting into the act!

  • @EcoRover Nice!! Sounds like you have a nice bunch of bird friends

  • Thank you, Ayako, and everyone, for the comments. The strangest sound I've heard yet, and that only once, was a relatively soft "Hoo, hoo, hah ... hoo, hoo, hah"

  • low sounds = talking to the close family / other ravens

loud sounds = talking to ravens / the family far away or warning the others

    =3

  • @AyakoEmerald Thank you, Ayako!

  • I once heard a raven make a noise that I can only describe as sounding like a very large toad groaning/burping, followed by a high pitched click with a strange echo.. I had no idea what was making the noise for a while.

  • I wish more ravens lived around here I only see them once in while and only for a few seconds and I hear them even less.

  • what color eyes do ravens have?

  • @TheNextAvrilLavigne

Grey as babies, and brown as adults.

  • @chlodnia ok thank u

  • @magicksquirrel Dark brown. It's hard to see but in the sunlight it clearly shows :)

  • @magicksquirrel Also, the babies have blue eyes until they fledge :)

  • Good clicking & knocking. Have you tried talking back?

  • @EcoRover, Yes! All the time!
