Rome never had to force pepole to enlist the army....it was a free choice that anyvone could do....it was a great honor to Serve the Roman Empire, and every soldier would be well rewarded after their years of Service in the army.
i receinly made a documentary about romes bloody transition from a republic to an empire, anyone who has an interist in this period in history can check it out on my channel,
you admited anyway that it was an empire and not a republic,o and they were a republic when they conquered all the Italy and the 3 Islands, they made an empire when they conquered half of Europe, and their leader was called Caesar, after the first one....
The fall of the Republic began, in my opinion, with the death of Tiberius Gracchus. By killing him, the Senate effectively declared that violence to achieve, or in their case, prevent, change, was totally acceptable. This set the stage for Marius, Lucius Sulla, and of course, the Triumvirate.
Very good video, good to see people with an interest in solid republican history. A few things though; Romulus was not overthrown by the Etruscans, the two stories forwarded by Livy are that he ascended to become a god in a cloud of smoke or that a cloud of smoke appeared and the senate ripped him to pieces and told the army the former story.
Rome: World mightiest republic ever, later worlds hugest and best empire. Ever
Not USA can match in their in a spirit of co to Romans! Not china can fight like that! They were brilliant, all of them. They didnt surrrender if loose 1 amy! No! They build another one! Better one!
What's the name of the second song? I really like it but on the background such as this it seemed a little odd to me. No offense, the video was very well made and educational too.
@HellesBringer Thanks for the feedback, the song is called "We are free now" and it's from the movie Gladiator. In my opinion it fitted the film well because it was taken from the film that the last battle scene is from.
Thanks sincerely for the info in this video, but I have got to complain about the dramatization. I truly don't like the perpetuation of inflated heroism in historical documentaries. Even the history channel does it! It's a total circle jerk. Using this airy female singer to romance the battling is offensive to me. It would be a way better vid if you used different music.
I'm sorry if you got offended, but as I wrote on the description, it's also a tribute to Rome, so I admit it's a little bit pro-roman but I wanted to make it that way.
@lissiness no offence but why do you need to enforce political correctness on people are just being creative? im not being agressive. its just a qustion. and how is it offencive?
The Roman republic was founded about 500 bc, long before religions like christianity. The late Roman republic and Empire held lots of different religions, which were all tolerated. The Romans never had anything against judaism. Christians were and exception in the early imperial time because of their obnoxiusines for roman religions. And around 300 ad christianity was made the official Roman religion, which is the only reason why christianity isn't a dead religion among others many other.
Christianity was gaining momentum with or without the support of the Empire. It was spreading among other civilizations beyond it's borders and it was very popular among the masses, which couldn't be rooted out so easily. Rulers like Constantine adopted it merely because it suited them, cruel emperors like him who killed relatives and many other animosities tended to like it because of it's message of redemption and forgiveness.
nice used it for my homework

Riael1111 11 months ago
@Riael1111 No, they called the supreme commander and general the emperor, while others where just generals, till the break of the empire in 2 anyway.

I included Caesar. He was a member of the First Triumvirate, which took power nearly a century after the death of Tiberius and Gaius Gracchus.
