  • had a stent put in yesterday 7th dec home today !!!

  • I had this done less than 2 weeks ago. Totally saved my life and besides the normal weakness after a heart attack, I feel great. My LAD was 99.9% occluded. I nearly bought the farm. So happy to be here! =) Modern medicine is great!

  • @Sherri119 That is EXCELLENT NEWS! So glad you received treatment in time. As a heart attack survivor, what advice do you have for others about warning signs, seeking treatment, etc.?

  • @nucleusanimation Thank you! =) Listen to your body. Not everyone has 'classic' heart attack symptoms. They can vary greatly from person to person. You _know_ when something is wrong, don't wait, it could cost you your life. It almost cost me mine. The ER is the safest and best place to be when you don't know what's happening to your body. <3

  • My Father had this treatment with a stent after a heart attack, the affected artery of his was 90% blocked. It certainly helped and at 74 yrs believe it or not he is back working as a coach driver Full Time!!

  • I am feeling a little chest pain, will visit the doctor and see if I have coronary artery disease. I have a family history of the disease so I may have it. :( I wanted to ask if the patient can return to his normal activities soon and also will the heart be able to work like before or will it become weak after the surgery?? Thanks for sharing the video, it was very helpful. Also please reply soon.

  • @GadgetsMadness Hace 40 dias mecolocaron el tercer este te cuento a las 48 horas estaba en casa a la semana ya trabajaba de camarero . Un consejo si es posible que la introducion del STENT se en forma radial es mas rapida la recuperacion

  • my dad had this done about 4 hours ago after a heart attack yesterday morning. this is amazing!

  • @Dovahkiin1991 Thanks for sharing! Hope your Dad is doing well.

  • Hi there, it has been 5 months since the operation. Elizabeth has been taken off all medication! She is a healthy 5 year old ! We did not have the stent put in. Only ballooned to open the aorta. It was a gamble because the stent guarantees that the artery stays open, but we decided against it. I'm happy to say, the aorta has not gotten smaller even though nothing is keeping it open ! Her blood pressure is down from 166 to a nice 109 . I was told to keep her quiet and relaxed for a couple of

  • @daniellekee01 That is fantastic news! Congratulations, and thank you so much for sharing your experience!

  • My dad have done it today what should I do about him ?

I mean any advices after the surgery ?

    What should he eats ?

    What should I do ?

  • I had this procedure done about 2 months ago. The entrance site healed quick. I found this video very accurate.

  • It's been nearly 3 months since the operation. My daughter is doing great. The recovery time for her was 2 days and a few sore days afterwards. Up and walking after one day , we did not have the metal stent put in because of her age and we are happy with the results.

Multi what don't you care ? Why r u at this site ?

She had her aorta widened, not due to fatty foods or smoking !! It's a birth defect!

Thank god for modern medicine, good luck

Bemypartytimelover, don't worry it will be fine !

  • @daniellekee01 That's GREAT news! Hope all continues to go well for you daughter and your family!

  • I was wondering how much this costs. I have needed it for over 6 months but I can't afford it. I just keep getting weaker and I get out of breathe so quickly. A cardiologist said he would just bill me if I came up with $75. I have no problem with the $75 but I don't want to put my family in debt for thousands of dollars.

  • wow, thats amazing...

  • Today was the pre-op, everything is moving fast, they only gave us 6 days to let it all sink in. She goes to school Wednesday, but then she will not attend for roughly 10days if all goes well. I will keep you posted

  • Thank you

  • Hi everyone, my little 5 year old angel is having a angioplasty this coming June 2nd. I have asked not to have a metal stent inserted, only the balloon to open up the coronary artery . The opening of her artery is 2-3 mm instead of 11mm like the rest of her artery. I have juggled the pros and cons and have decided to go with balloon only. Let's hope that it's enough ! I am very scared for her health, god will be with her.

  • @daniellekee01 God bless! Hope the surgery and aftercare go well.

  • @daniellekee01 hello there, i will be having that kind of angioplasty soon to germany. how is your liitle girl doing? i am only 29 years old. how long is the recovery of your little angel? God bless

  • @daniellekee01 Hope it goes well. God will be with her!

  • I love Science!!!

  • my brother had that surgery hes having another when he's 14.

    Jermaine

my name is Ashley i have a stent in my artery and i am happy.

  • my brother had that surgery hes having another when he's 14.

    Jermaine

  • my son has had a stent for the better part of his life and has had one replaced today. this is a marvel. thank God for science, Dr Wilson and his team!!!!!!

  • I observed this surgery twice this morning as a nursing student,, guys and gals please quit smoking!

  • @JewelsFromVenus Good comment. Apparently, 18% of CAD is purely from smoking, whilst the other three risk factors like exercise, diet and hypertension amount to the remaining 80%, perhaps with genetic predisposition too. Must have been a privilige to observe that.

  • damn, i will be making those starting 03/16/11 , its crazy what they are used for!

  • I have had this procedure done three times inserting four stents. First time was after TPA stopped a full blown heart attack. The procedure is nothing and yes there is a little risk but there is risk walking across the street. I will take this over open heart any day!

  • We consider ourselves lucky, if you think a few years ago we intervened with an open heart operation

  • Hello! I have a question about the use of a stent: after arterial expansion, you need to stay the stent on his site or can you remove it without collateral effects?

  • @videoshueciapan The stent bonds to the arterial wall. It is permanent. It has a med built in to help prevent re-stenosis! Hope this helps.

  • Hmm i did have that "treatment" on dec 28, all went fine. I ended up with 2 stents ! Btw. they are made of Titanium/Cobolt-metal.

Theres however one thing, the doc tried to set up the wire tru the wrist instead of the groin. After about 10 min. my aterie in the arm cramped up and he had to continue tru the groin arterie. I still have al LOT pain in my right forearm bec. he probably scratched the inside of the arterie - ofc. it will wear off, but i CANT recommend that way into your heart.

  • Thanks for the information. I just found out that my dad needs to undergo the surgery. I'm scared, worried and anxious to go home......I'm working overseas and I feel bad that I won't be there for my family.

Everythin' will be ok right? Everythin's gonna be alright....I pray and hope so for the best. Thanks again for the video! God bless!

  • i've undergone this yesterday.

  • @shahza85 how are u shehza i just want to know is it safe ?my uncke will go for it next week i m worried about him'.

  • @heenayameen Thanks for asking. I am doing fine. Am on Medical Leave for 1 month. Its just that i feel quite easily tired. Dont know why.

  • thanks for the useful information

  • Thanks very informative.

  • sahai

  • wtf? why was this a related video to my video O_O

  • TheAdorable the lifestyle changes i made i gave up smoking but put on a lot of weight so i went to a slimming club and lost the weight i had gained i only eat heathy foods i don't smoke i only drink in moderation it's 10 years in August since i had the angioplasty after suffering a heart attack i hope this helps x

  • @SYLVIA7676 Thank you so much for your testimony. I'm eagerly looking for information on this procedure as my father will be undergoing an angioplasty in the next few days...

  • my husband had this done last friday. he is recovering well. It was such a shock and a wake up call for us bec he is only 34 yrs old.

Is the lump normal though? He's next appointment will be on the 27th so until then I'm praying nothing goes wrong.

  • thanks it was very helpful.

  • ZAZ4JAZ @ MERCURHILLMANIAC:

Why all the hatred?? It could you with a heart attack in need of the help of professions like myself. PFFT jealous people, I hate them.

  • cool thanks!

  • Very informative! My friend has had several stents and he is doing fine. Years ago I had a cardiac cathorization were they inject dye into the heart by a tube inserted into the femoral artery just like in this video. They say you can't feel the tube in your artery, but I could feel exactly were it was as it traveled up to my heart. I told the doctor doing the proceedure and he said it was very unusual that I had that feeling. It was a strange feeling! The dye hurt like hell!!

  • just happened to my mother this morning. it was harrowing and scary, but apparently she is fine now.

does anyone else feel weak/like passing out when seeing this?

not from being grossed out or anything, just the the fragility of human life, its so easy for it to end.

  • The comments from atheist here just make me laugh... they speak as if "doctors", "science", "technology" had created themselves just from out the blue... Atheists are so ignorant that they can't tell the difference between God and religion !!!

  • Wow, I really can't wait to graduate at a doctor and hopefully accomplish my dreams of becoming a cardiologist :)

  • @zaz4jaz YOU WILL FAIL

  • have it setter the problem of cholestrol? blood vessel easy broken right? another place will come blockage again?

  • very informative

  • Thank u!!! I live in Chicago n my father is in caLifornia..... He was rushed to the hospital for chest pain n my sister was told he was on the verge of a heart attack.... Doc said he need to get this angioplasty thing done n I had no clue what it was! This video is very helpfull and in a way it was calmed down my nerves.

  • Great video, now I know how this procedures looks. I received two stents

    this year, thanks............

  • If you are looking at having multiple stents research EECP therapy, its non-invasive with incredible results. Many doctors are reluctant to trust/try anything "non-invasive" and so don't tell patients about this new option which is FDA approved and many insurance providers cover it. Good luck to everyone going through this, pass on the info to people you know.

  • this makes me wonder how often they move or if they can move , I have two of them and was doing fine until I watched this. now IM wondering if they can tear my artery

  • 007auntberk

no the walls of the artery incorporate the stent into itself. it won't move....it makes the artery stronger......you're good to go.

    not to worry

  • excelente explicación, a mi papá le van a ejecutar esta operación y al ver uno como es ya sabemos y estamos al tanto de que va a pasar en la misma, estamos seguros que todo va a salir bien y con exito. te lo dejamos a ti dios

  • My dad is undergoing this procedure tomorrow....bit nervous for him....hope everything works out...Thanks for posting this clear educational video.

  • same exact situation here! good luck to you and your fam

  • @klook94 Thanks for your kind words...my dad is perfect now....Had 99% blockage...yikes..he feels like hes in his 30s now and hes 54....hope your dad is ok too!

  • Should have read this post first - congratulations to your dad and family!

  • How did your dad's surgery go?

  • Former President Bill Clinton had this done today 2:29 He sure loved his McDonald's , hmmmmm burgers.. good luck to you president hope everything works out fine for you.

  • I had this procedure done in the year 2000

nearly ten years ago with no complications or side effects at all.

  • @SYLVIA7676 what lifestyle changes did u make? Please share, I dont want my husband to go through it again.

  • Comment removed

  • Side effects include severe leg cramps (mostly at night) and after about 6 months I started noticing short term memory loss. Both of which are indicated on the web site for statin drugs.

  • informative video..

  • thanx.

  • what are the statistics for people who have had heart attacks and survived using this procedure?

  • Wellwell, I had mine 8/28/08. At that time I stopped smoking and changed my diet. I take my prescriptions religiously. I had a stress test in November, and my blockage has not any worse in a year and a half. So far... good.

  • @Ratarootus Thanks for the info. Had a family member go through this procedure today. Best of luck for the future.

  • My dad had this happen to him last Tuesday.

  • THANK YOU VERY USEFUL .

  • I've had this procedure done twice. The first time I had a heart attack, I was air lifted to Umass Worcester, I was in and out of it but I had the angilplasty done and a stent was placed. The femoral artery was used. 2 yrs later I had a 2nd heart attack, a mild one, but they had to reopen the stented artery again, that was the Friday before Christmas 09. The 2nd time they went through my right wrist. I have to take asprin and plavix to prevent this.

  • I've also had this done twice with no complications. Looks like I may be in line for number 3, though. I'm concerned about the statin drugs that my dr. recommends. I've had side effects and he doesn't seem to listen to me about that.

  • can you tell me what side effects?

    regards.

  • had mine 4 months ago

  • I was 39 when I had my stint done. I thank the good lord above that I knew the signs of a heart attack and was able to get help right away. Always remember knowlage is power. PS not plaque but a blood clot caused my heart attack.

  • just think 30 years ago this was science fiction. Now it's reality.

  • wooow...

  • Stop eating fatty foods.

  • Eric, stop being a plonker! Do you really think heart disease is just caused through fatty food? A lot is caused by inheriting it.

We can blame it on smoking and drinking...........but each person is different!

  • I had it done and doing fine. Some discomfort in the groin area for couple days. A wire mesh is keeping me going ...thank GOD for doctors

  • @randy8993 , you really made me feel better, my dad is having this done in like 20 minutes... :-(

  • @randy8993 Did he tell you about the cause?

Stopping the consumption of Animal Protein, all together!

1/2 hour after consumption of any AP, the blood plasma contains many fat particles that stock to the walls of arteries & over time create plaques . These plqs can be launches and released ....

    2nd problem: Read 'The China Study';

    Cornell University.

    14 years of Research.

Towns, with Millions of people involved.

    Cure: Medically supervised fasting!!!

  • just thank doctors dude,. imagine how advanced could've been the medicine if weren't the religion ., same situation in every sector of science

  • @randy8993 Thank science for doctors.

  • @randy8993 God bless you for your testimony. My father will go through this procedure in a couple of days and I'm looking for feedback on the procedure.

  • Hello. I had a kidney stone surgery done at a local hospital where they inserted a tube on my back to break and remove the stone , later in the hospital recovery room my heart was racing really fast , later they sent me to have an angiogram done and it showed that one of my artery was 99% blocked , doctor inserted a stent and I feel very well. Is it possible that a blood cloth from the Kidney Stone surgery made it's way to the heart artery blocking it and cause my heart to beat very fast?

  • This procedure is very expensive and invasive

  • at 2:10 and 2:35, is there any chance of aneurysm?

And what about the plaque that is in the artery whilst the stent is being placed? Would it be a danger in any circumstance?

I send my thanks in advance.

  • that was also educatoinal

  • Sounds Good. Thank you for your grate work.

  • I have a friend who is a nurse in a cath lab for the most part this is a 30 min procedure and they do a bunch a day. It's almost like assembly line surgery. The Dr. goes from one to the next all day. They are very safe but anytime you mess around with the heart there is a risk of complications including death. However this is much safer than open heart surgery to fix things also the recovery time is almost immediate. Most people can go home the same day. Truly a modern miracle of medicine.

  • amazing work

  • wooooooooooah! cool.

  • kind of metal, which is tested for a liferange of 20 years

  • My husband had a heart attack and was transported to Good Samritan hosp cat lab in LA. They put in a stent in his coronary artery which caused a large stroke in the right part of his brain. Should I sue Good Samritan hosp for causing the stroke? My husband's speech was affected, his sentences are mixed up, he can't get the correct words out. He can't read or write or drive his car and can't go back to work. I have to stay home from my job so I can be his caregiver.

  • Question to ask your self is if he didnt have the hoperation would he have died from a heart attack.

Like any one people are limited to how much help they can do, as you can see with this video they insert a wire and ballow from the groin and not open up the chest to directly insert it in the heart. these meshs are made by other companies not the hospital so if the manufacturing company are cutting corners 4 profits and endagerig ppl then sue them otherwise u have 2 accept people tried to hlp

  • You cant sue people because they tried to help based on your husband giving concernt for the operation.

By visiting the hospital under the emergency room your giving concent for them to do whats needed to prevent you from dying there and then.

If you didnt want them to do the work they did, then you dont go 2 them.

This is a hit or miss procedure if the mesh moves out of place after the operation nothing they can do, if complications happen during the ballow inflation they woudl deflate

  • That's a risk I'm afraid. I hope you're all coping. x

  • what is the stent made out of? Can it collapse under the pressure of the arteries?

  • @kernel89 The stent is made of stainless steel.

  • excellent animation and explaination

  • do you do this when your wake

  • No an Anesthesiologists will give you a General anesthetic this will make you completely unconscious during the procedure at my hospital my patients have never hade a complaint about our Anesthesiologists she knows what she is doing and its the same throught I hear so talk to them they will tell you every thing you need to know

  • are you a doctor

  • if the stent get blocked again, is it safe to put another stent on top of the one that is already in?

  • The isn't my area of expertice I am a Medical Internist but one of my patients a wile ago had this operation he came back three months later complaining of a sharp pain were the stint was planted he whent in for surgery and they found that the stint was bent so they took it out and inserted another the surgical resident told me in that case you would have to remove the blocked stint and insert another and it is possible to place more if needed but you canot place another on one that is blocked

  • My husband had a quadruple bypass 14 years ago. Because of this marvellous invention, he has had 3 fitted altogether, he has been given a 3rd 4th and 5th chance - I am so grateful! x

  • Good god, he has 5 stents in his heart? Lady, what are you feeding him? You need to change his diet cause stents and wires wont cure diabetes.

  • No Eric, he has 3 stents if you read my comment, I consider he has been given 5 chances to life!

We live a very healthy life thankyou, this was a disease passed down the family, he lost his Dad at 50 and his Grandfather even younger.

I think the reason he is so fit is because of our healthy lifestyle!!

Diabetes???? Where you got that from????

Eric READ the comments before commenting :O)

  • by thisproceedure i got new life.plz donot SMOKE.

  • my dad got that done.

  • Besides a good doctor, you need to be a good plummer as well to pull this procedure out :)

  • Hi, my mum is admitted and the doctor suggest that my mum needs this surgery. Is there any high risk?

  • I am a doctor of internal medicine at lakeland reginal medical center a Coronary artery angioplasty is starting to become a more rutine surgery most of my patience with this surgery come back fine and with no problems so dont worry but I will tell you that any surgery is risky esp when its dealing with an artery but dont fret I dont meen to scare you but i feel i should tell you the truth unfortunatly many doctors dont tell there patients the truth there is some good but I feel they should now

  • Your spelling and grammar are terrible! I hope you're not really a doctor

  • @shazjohnson hahaha burrrnnn

  • @shazjohnson spelling and grammar are not good parameters to define a good doctor... plz get some basic knowledge brushed before passing any comment. you think all doctors must know english? what nonsense thinking is that?

  • @utt1976 How did it go? My father will have this procedure done next week...

  • I make those stents

  • hey so what material are these stents made of?

  • Nitinol - It's a metal mostly titanium and some nickel.

  • stents cost about 6 grand (australian)

  • Having had this proceedure three weeks ago, including three stents, in my opinion, it is very accurate.. To lesson your chances of needing angioplasty, follow a mediterranian diet. Olive oil, not butter, fish & chicken (without skin), plenty of vegetables.. get rid of those potato chips and take away foods. In other words, eat sensibly...

  • WOW!!!

  • If it is it, I will prevent it in Bios Life!

  • thank you for posting, my 12yr old daughter is having this done on friday, she is being put out for it, it helps to see what happen's/

    dawn thompson

  • how is she now?

  • 12 yr old? Darn it, she's waay too young for that crap!! I hope she comes out of it well!

    Good luck!!

  • Gee! 12 yr old ? that's cray.. How much does she weights for getting such a surgery at this age ?

  • and I thought I was young to get something like that, I'm 27, I guess it happens at any age

  • @stuartangelsx4 God bless. I hope everything went well for your daughter.

  • Medicine has become so awesome.

Imagine someone 1000 years ago trying to do this.

  • waw.....it is super good....we hope for more of this kind

  • Keep all these animations coming...

  • These videos are such a good idea. They should be used more often in education.

  • Wow! This 3D medical animation is very informative. This helps me to understand the coronary heart angioplasty much better.

  • This is an excellent medical animation, I understand this procedure so much better now, as a patient I think I would feel much safer after viewing this animation

  • Fantastic 3D medical animation, this procedure was performed on my father, he will love to see it- Thanks Nucleus animation team for another premium piece of work.

  • Excellent patient education animation on coronary heart angioplasty.
