@LauxHawk the computer case says "SLI". That is a technique that allows multiple video cards at once. How ever if you look at the back of the case you only see the output of one single card. Also, a Tesla card!!!, look at the back, there it is 2 PCI-e installed, but one of them doesn't have any video adapter... So, that fit in the Tesla card description... PCI-e, but not for video... This is not a regular computer, its a Super Computer, its too powerfull, and it's not fair, i could call myself a "Nvidia fanboy" but this is just unfair

Its definitely not for everyone.  I upgrade once every 3 years. Its more for enthusiasts who love benchmarking and just knowing that they have a ridiculously fast GPU.

The cool part now though is that DX11 games are coming out. Trust me, when crysis 2 releases you'll notice a huge difference between PC and console versions.

The difference here is that the topline ATi cards are dual chip cards, like the 5870 you mentioned, and the 5970 aswell. The GTX 295 is a dual chip card, too.

But, the GTX 480 is a single chip card - make that a dual chip to double it's power, it would unquestionably be the most powerful card.

NVIDIA just needs to polish the Fermi more, and drop the power for less power and heat, then they can cram two of them into a single card.

@Daputti the 5870 is a single chip NOT DUAL. The 480 beats the 5870 by a little in certain benchmarks but is it worth the extra 100 dollars? Also the 480 runs alot hotter and uses more electricity. In that case i say it worth getting a 5870 and overclocking to surpass the 480 and save a few bucks . Im not a fanboy of niether i just like to get more bang for my buck and performance .

GTX 480 is better than the 5870..only just, 5870 has a higher max fps in the unigine tesselation run, but it has a MUCH lower minimum fps. GTX480 is just a much more stable card with higher average framerates. Nvidea compared the both of them themselves
