I wish people could get over this idea of metronomic variations.. its a very 20th C idea... in the 18th and 19th Cs, the player was expected to indulge the character of the variation, not rattle them off at a steady tempo.
Just enjoy the musicality of his playing and marvel at the neatness of his hamonics.... I've heard many concert harpists make a worse job of it!
@spandrzyk1 I find the change of tempo accentuates the emotion put into the piece. Keeping in mind its a fairly young kid playing I really think how its been played is real admirable.
@JeanJean1988 As the piece represents a farewell i think a slow start and finish are important to express sadness, however this is my interpretation and everyone is entitled to their own. He does play very well and I expect he will be very accomplished when he is older!!!
I absolutely agree with you! I feel like he is rushing, he needs to draw out the music, so you can really feel the emotions of this piece. He could just be nervous..it happens to the best of us.
Glad he's not all "cheesy" about it.But the harp needs tuning

great job, but isn't it a little too fast?

Yes it is too fast! Especially as he doesn't keep the same tempo throughout!
