  • very nice.

  • Bravo. What a lovelt rendition. I was only familar with Davis Jhansen version for the Harry Smith Project. His a harder, faster version. I like your quiet, soft tone. Very nice indeed.

  • I knew a dog named BLUE, well, he (R.I.P)was the dog from my dear cousin , who helped him on the land , together with the other dog Jack (R.I.P). The knew how to work with sheep.... This song is lovely, it reminds me of the video my cousin send me all the way from NZ to Holland. Where they were running on the fields....

    Thanks Bill.

  • Very nice. Smooth voice.

  • I sang it with my banjo decades ago. Now it remembers me of all my dogs. Thank you.

  • LOVE you! My bluetick pup is named BLUE!

  • my buddy showed me this im a fan of just some singing and an acoustic, and i have a dog named blue i love dearly, so he had to share naturally. This was great though, ive listen to it on repeat (singing along) about 15 times so far. Really good, thanks for sharing.

  • Thank you so, so much. Five years ago today, my best friend, Blue, passed away. I miss him so much each and every day, and this song was one of my earliest childhood memories. Dad and I sung it together and I think that's why we named him what we did. Thank you.

  • I want to thank you, Mr. Bill. My dog, Blue, died five years ago today. I still miss him so incredibly much and this song was one of the only childhood memories I have of him. Thank you.

  • This old dawg loves old Bill! Well done!

  • my daddy sang this to me <3

  • Excellent - stumbled on it after PP&M butchering. Just great!!!

  • my mom used to sing this song as a lullaby for me. Thanks for singing it.

    GOD bless you.

  • Great song, i loved it ;)

  • Very fine singin' Bill. Listen to 'Ole Blue' sung by Paul Ott, posted by dogote82 about 3 days ago on YouTube. You should try that version and post the video.

  • It would be funny if you sang an acoustic joke song like "baby got back" or something else funny. Many people would be laughing their asses off. C'mon, DO IT!!!!

  • Made me cry ... I'm gonna go home and hug blue closer.... I worry if my other one, Danny'll feel left out! :( love the way you sang it.

  • Cujo !

    Thank's a lot

  • Thank you Bertrand. :~)

  • Early, every Saturday morning, a local TV program played this song with a video of an old dog chasing a racoon up a tree. It was in the mid 70's. I loved it back then. Your version had that same quality. Very nice touch. Makes you miss the simple times.

  • Wow, what a compliment! Thank you so much! :~)

  • Nice work, Bill! I first heard this song about a month ago on a 'children's songs album' when visiting my little nephew in North Carolina. He didn't like it but I and my sister-in-law did. We played it until that boy liked it! Anyway, I came home and searched the internet for this song and your version is definately the best--James Taylor is a DISTANT second! You're a talented fella, and that comes from a guy who is hard to impress. Thanks for the wonderful music, Bill!

  • wonderful!

  • Thank you. :~)

  • i really enjoyed that, brought back memories of childhood. my dad loves burl ives music. thank you so much

  • Thank you, Denise. I'm glad you liked it.

  • Sure mi amigo . . . Click on "more info" under my name in the upper right. When you learn this song, you need to post it on YouTube, okay?

  • greg lake's version is better, no ofense

  • No offense taken. Thanks for stopping by.

  • I've watched about 10 people sing this song on YouTube. You have the best recording, because you sing it with feeling, like you really mean it.

  • Well, yes Johnny, it is indeed sad when your dog dies, isn't it.? I love this old Burl Ives tune. Thanks for your kind comment.

  • Amazing!

  • Thanks.
