  • best version of this song

  • sooo much soul in her words, not many artists can make you feel their words...R.I.P.

  • Great song and nice video. Not sure why you listed all the drug and booze information. Was distracting more than interesting.

  • just so youre aware.... janis didn't overdose.. it was a bad batch of heroin.. it didn't matter if she had just taken a little tiny bit.. something like 10 people died all over the city that night from the same batch...

  • Thanks Nina~

  • One of the great singers.

  • Is it really necessary to list all the drugs and booze? I think everyone knows this, and by the way, it's spelled HEROIN, thanks

  • Another fabulous artist Drugs took away from world, rest in peace Janis, what a wonderful talent.

  • i used to listen to this song growing up cuz my dad played her album NON STOP and he always told me..."all these singers nowadays remake this song but NO ONE will ever sing it better then janis joplin" im 22 years old now STILL blasting her music :) i love janis!

  • Man she was beautiful <3

  • I like her nippel :-)

  • I got Janis near me :D My friend looks just like her :D

  • well,oh well...janis was and is a great r&b singer...thanks to kris kristofferson and fred foster for writing this song....roger miller first sung it,then kris sung it,then, janis made it #1,her song ,so to speak.... so..thanks.......R

  • THANK YOU FOR JANIS ...I NEEDED THAT <3

  • i luv jaanizz!

  • to taste like a rare wine...

  • NOOOOO WAAAYY!!!!!!

  • it seems to be thing to like this song in some version or another but you cannae beat janis joplin's version.

  • her drug dealer game her to much acid and thats how she died. i blame him for everything

  • @VanillaSmurfx

the only one to blame for her death ....is her ! Janis knew she had free will She lived life on her own terms and checked out when she had had enough To imply she was a victim ? is an insult to her intelligence & her humanity ..She exercised her rights as a human "BEING" Janis had the god given right To "BE"...or not to "BE ".she chose both options ! (and dont we all !!)

  • Someone once said "If you don't think drugs have done good things for us, then take all of your records, tapes and CD's and burn them. Because all those artists you grew up and still love were REAL fuckin high on drugs. Appreciate JAnis for what she represented not what she did in her spare time, were here to listen to her music, not here to recap on her morals. get a life, and drop some fucking dos.

Rest in peace my lovely, LOVE always Janis <3333

    still listening in 2012

  • @jakeclimbsladders AMEN !!!!

  • Janis was a fucking GODDESS. Rest in Peace beautiful beautiful soul, we'll all see you again soon <3<3

  • First time I heard this was when my step-mother used to play it. She passed away in 2008. RIP patty this is for you and bobby mcgee

  • I was a very young girl when I heard of her death and I lived in a different country. I have studied Janis since I was very young, starting shortly after she died. Pain ... and art ... they seem to be intertwined ... it would have been really great if she would have joined The Fellowship back then for perhaps we would have been able to learn more from her, and also reach out to her as well.

  • Linda, parece com minha filha Ariane Mendes.

  • Well she may have been a speed freak but it made for extraordinarily freed speak!!

Personally I only touched it once, same with a lot of substantial substances, control is limited so I left it alone, still alive, fit as a fiddle, running my mouth off naturally, keep flowing Janis!!

  • @ spinnetje1957 - thank u :))

  • @NinaBengtsson

    Sad story.

Nice and beautiful presentation of this fantastic woman and her awesome music.

  • @NinaBengtsson Great voice, i feel the pain and happy times.

  • I like it. Thanks Nina

  • Well, if you don't like it - don't watch it. It's that simple.

  • Janis Joplin was & is my hero! She lived the way she wanted & said fuck what people think. Her voice is like noone elses

  • damn straight there's 0 dislikes

  • this would have been alright had it not been filled with captions reminding us all about something we already knew. If it was going to be a documentary you should have titled it Janis for people born after 1982

  • hell yes! Zero Dislikes

  • the queen of the blues. only person that i know came close to her is T Ray and the Shades from OR. great bar band first time i heard them do this song made me cry as i swade waving a peace sighn in the air saying miss you gal. long live Janis

  • That made me cry.. so sad, such a beautiful talent.

  • Always will by my girl!... was only a kid when she died, but her sound and her style always stayed with me - even her bangles became a part of me... I'm over 50yrs old and for some reason she is in still in my heart heavy and strong; she sang with a soul that no spirit had yet come close - that is until Amy came along ... G-d rest both their souls... I look forward to meeting up with both of 'em on the other side = I am sure they are having a heck of time right now as we speak.... <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

  • what's with all the dumb ass drug comments in the video.

  • This woman is one of the most respected women in the music industry. She didn't give a fuck and did what she did best. Lived life to the fullest and made wonderful music. Honestly, shes my roll model. I love Janis Joplin ♥♥♥

  • Why didnt we finish the song Nina?

  • U STFU NO USTFU What a rainbow of positive attitudes, need some Skittles?

  • Comment removed

  • Should be spelled heroin. Heroine means a female hero.

  • she died of a herione overdose.Oh the irony.

  • One of my favorite music artists of all time. I had a huge crush on a boy named Bobby McGee when I was in Junior High, helped to make this my favorite song of hers! What a loss to the world ............

  • @paintecho exactly!

  • if youdont like the fact she did drugs, fine, go listen to justin b

  • If Janis did not have so much trauma in her life (including the drugs and alcohol), we wouldn't have her beautiful, soulful blues. She was taken from us too soon, but her life was what it was, and it shows in her music. Never a wasted life! Grateful for all she left us....

  • Pure class, so very sad, I think she was sent into this world to sing for us.

  • youtube should screen for pointless, entitled verbal diarrhea like 'what a waste' or 'but omg she did drugs'. how the fuck does it affect any of us. im glad enough she made that many quality tracks. and guess what? drugs doesnt come off in the records, at least not in the way purple drank does on lil wayne. get what im saying? she did it enough to ensure she could still shine in her music. it's called coping, and not whining. because life is harsh like that.

  • anyone who hasnt walked in her shoes should STFU. she made good music, she never asked for our sympathies or nothing else. she never asked nothing, she just delivered. so stfu she owes none of us nothing. im glad enough i stumbled across a female artist like her. god knows there's an abundance of shit music by female artists. it's called gratitude. y'all should try it sometime

  • I wish i was there,that time,knowing what I know now.....and save her.

  • janis was clean for 6 months in 1970, prior to her death. peggy caserata gave her a hit in LA and jansi started using again. her od was due to pure H in combination with alcohol intoxication. she lay dead for 18 hours, when her road manager found her on 10/4/1970.

  • She reminds me of my Irish grandmother. Irish women are so full of life but don't ever make em mad lol. I wish Janis would have stuck around but it was not meant to be. I still love her and always will. R.I.P. Janis. We still love you.

  • Leave her alone!... Don't you dare criticise her, bastards!! Assholes!!!

  • @zzzooozzzify

You sounds pretty nervous - drugs ? Give it up.

Its bloody boring, alone in a coffin ...

  • @zzzooozzzify Are you Chris Crocker?

  • bless the rights of rythem

  • Agreed. :)

  • No one can sing this like Janis! I do listen to Kris singing it, because he wrote it & I like him, but Janis rocks this MF song! Sing it Sista!!!!

  • Adoro a voz dela!!! esse vídeo é muito bom e explicativo sobre algumas coisas da vida da Diva Janis Joplin que a heroína se encarregou de levar, ou seria o contrário???

  • One thing I really like about your montage are the pics!! I also like that you just stated the facts. Nicely Done!! Thank you

  • ya baby

  • Heroin heroine.

  • how sad she every thing going for her. she was very talented.what a waste of a precious life

  • @BORN2SHOP4U why a 'waste of life'? she lived it the way she loved it. and made good music.. RIP

  • @paintecho a life lost is a life wasted, the life that could have been, not the time spent alive. you are right though, she did some really good stuff (music)...put her 'all' into it

  • @paintecho yeah but pearl was her last album. she had so much more to give. it was a shame. she did make good music. RIP

  • @denisjl100

    guys my point is simple..

it cant be said that it's a life 'wasted'.. it's not exactly 'wasted' if people love your work years after you made it. i mean she lived her life the way she wanted to. for sure she would have continued to make good music. but i understand what you guys mean.. because even i'm sad that she didn't live longer to make more music!

  • @paintecho i guess we agree. it is great music to listen to and they died too soon

  • @denisjl100 agreed!

  • @paintecho Yes but it was a waste of a life, just 27 years old when she died. RIP

  • @paintecho That's not how it works, she was addicted to drugs. I bet she would have loved her life much more if she didn't take drugs.

  • @paintecho read David Dalton's biography she was a misery lady with plenty of grief it was all rather shocking a most unhappy person.

  • @paintecho The brightest candles burn the fastest as they say.

  • right on sister!

  • thank you so much for sharing, I loved her so much and was heart broken the day I heard she died. She would have reached great fame if only.......................peace janis love you baby..
