Can you show your buyers the PARENTS of the puppies? If not, we don't believe that your "local breeders" are giving their breeding dogs a humane, safe, happy life. Pet store owners cover up for abusive breeders, and we all know it. The puppies re cure -- but where are the PARENT DOGS? What are their lives like? Show us the parents and we'll believe you -- otherwise, you're just another apologist for a cruel system of breeding.
@lavida54 In fact, puppy mill owners sell on the internet and through classified ads, also. Many pet stores are no longer selling puppies and kittens and Petsmart is carrying only shelter animals for adoption, not sale.
@NonnyMus1 yes i adopted a shelter pup , was told it was a chihuahua well 43# later guess they had no clue what they were talking about ... At least when you buy from a breeder you can see the parents and see what you are getting ... My Advice go to a breeder and buy .. not thru a pet shop or shelter as for the internet it is just like real life anywhere else good and bad ... Check things out and make phone calls before you buy no matter what you are buying ...
@tocute54 My advice is to not buy purebreds because of all the genetic diseases and deformities. Chihuahuas, for example, have shallow eye sockets and their eyes can pop out if you pull on a neck collar(that's why you see Chihuahuas in harnesses). And that's just 1 problem they have.
If you insist on having a inbred dog, adopt from a rescue group for that breed. Shelters aren't in the business of vetting purebreds, so they make their best guess. Don't fault them for getting it wrong.
at least with purebreds you know what to expect ...I will take a purebred anyday over a mutt you know nothing about from the pound .....
