And %8 fuel ratio comes from : 15 unit- volume of air to 1 unit-volume of fuel, The ideal burning ratio.. [It equals to %6 in fact]
On diesel engines, fuel flow is needed for speeding the engine up to higher revs. So it exceeds up to %8 to provide more powerful combustion to rev the engine.
But after fueling tweaks, it could exceed %8 and it causes unburnt particles, that makes this smoke screen and harmful gases (CO, unburnt hydrocarbons, and a little bit of Nitrous oxides as output [Not Related to NOS canisters] )
engine needs more air to defeat the CO and particle emission. ( This may be with assist of more turbo boost, or a bigger turbo with wastegate [Just for Security and engine lifespan] or Supercharger etc.)
Black is not unburnt fuel it is pure carbon that has been seperated from the hydrocarbon (diesel), HC +O =h2o, co and c. propper combustion is hc +o2=h2o,co2, no carbon released as there is enough O2.
unburnt fuel is white, u would get that at extreme overfuelling but this is nowhere near that.
When u get the max air in possible more bhp is released when u overfuel like this compared to no smoke.
Uv screwed da turbo out 2 far or remapped her to far!!! lmao its nothin compared to da black smoke dat comes out of ma newholland TM140 screwed out till 190 lol
@Mark6920 How can you screw out an electronic pump?? unless you put bigger injector nozzels on it or trick the ecu into dumping more fuel, e.g: remap or the evry mod
i head the same car when the turbo was about to go when someone we said "keep behind it makes a lot of smoke" when it used to start BOOM thick black smoke
too much fuel going to the engine... i had the same problem

"if you can see the pride( = smoke) of a tdi it means you must be laughing out loud because of that sadness!!" xD

@VillejeanRyder35 Because it's too dangerous to overtake with all that smoke, you can't see anything.

If we talking about total efficiency and burning clarity, please take a look at marine engines that produce the maximum mentioned power for 7/24/365
acharad 2 years ago 2
and spring of poisonous but -having energy potential if burned- gases...
So the high powered diesel cars that you have posted to me can consume 10 times more fuel than regular copies...
They are pretty good for a "Rollercoaster on Highway", Otherwise, Just waste of valuable fuel...
So because of the emission laws, most of them cannot be street legal... (At least in Europe)
acharad 2 years ago
I already didn't mentioned about performance -or- total efficiency...
Overdose fueling with turbocharging/supercharging may produce high power for "SECONDS", but these are nothing but waste of energy and fuel,

how do u make a diesel smoke like that what mods do i do?
xxbuboyxx 3 years ago
older ones you can tune the fuel pump, not so sure with newer cars
0thingthing0 2 years ago
It is about give more fuel to the engine that cannot burn it properly.
Newer cars need ECU Tuning for Richer Fuel -Air Mixture...
If Fuel ratio in Mixture exceeds %8, The fuel that injected to cylinders cannot burn properly and produces soots that makes that smoke screen
acharad 2 years ago
8%?
where did u get that figure?
A diesel has an inconsistant mixture, ie it is "richer" (although u cant really use that expression on diesels) nearer the injector.
It is all burnt, it is just burnt using less oxygen so that u have CO + C (amongst other things) rather than CO2, to put it basically.
Diesles run excess air, to get the most from given boost u overfuel.

did I say anything else :D
I Say John Sam Doe
You reply Sam John Doe...
acharad 2 years ago
Not sure I understand.
My point is to get the most from a diesel it will be fueled at such a rate/ quantity per injection that it will black smoke.
A lot of people think that smoke means loss of power, dont know if thats u or not, but that was my only point.
Did u see the fastest diesel pickup?
Theres some good mercedes diesel videos aswell, also a 1.9tdi vw lupo with 4x4 and 434bhp!!!! a porsche beater!
tpvalley 2 years ago 2
stoichiometry doesnt apply to diesels as the mixture is inconsistant, for best bhp from a diesel it will smoke.
