Blockbusters was an awesome quiz show and Bob was the magical presenter who made the show his own. Let's face it nobody else could match his talent on this programme. He was simply wonderful and if anyone deserves the title Legend- well Bob you are a Legend...
Thank you for the memories- onwards to Blockbusters in Heaven- RIP
They really need to put this back on TV! They need something instead of the tired Weakest Link, and a revamped Blockbusters would be brilliant, I think Nicky Campbell would make a great host ( I loved Bob in the 80s though!).
And they should keep the theme music as close to the original as possible.
I was on Blockbusters shortly after this, and they sent me and a friend on the same skiing trip as Jane, the solo girl, and a mate of hers. We went to Arinsal in Andorra for a week.
Am I the only 1 who thought this was a really good T.V. show & was amazed that they took it off mainstream T.V. back in 1993. It was eminently watchable then & looking at this it still is - which T.V. land muppet cancelled it & WHY?
Wow, very nice. Here in Germany the Gameshow was known as "Supergrips". Was broadcasted till about 1990. What a pitty that the show is not on TV anymore.
Here for the screen graphics was used an AMIGA computer!
The man who hosted the American version, Bill Cullen, had glasses the exact same size. I guess when they were casting the host, large glasses were a priority. LOL. Seriously though Bob Holnes is an amazing host and I'll never get enough of that music.
I remember watching this when i was a toddler back in 1993, i know this was 1984 but It was still on in the early 90's and i remember all the students were geeks and posh nob heads common people wouldnt stand a chance
Bob Holness was a pirate radio DJ & worked on Radio Luxembourg with Jimmy Savile OBE & he worked at Radio 1 in 1967 & LBC News radio in LOndon at the time of this clip
Thanks Bob, sorry to see you go :'(
