I enjoy this post for the simple reason of having played in a deeply talented amateur production of this in my home area. I played Charles Guiteau, who was Garfield's shooter. The bullet didn't kill Garfield, but as I understand it, the doctors unsanitary probing for the bullet and such infected and killed him. The performances are top notch! Thanks!!!!

I agree, Victor Garber was outstanding in the original version. However, overall, the entire cast was outstanding. Especially NPH, I really like his rendition of the ballads over the last Ballader.

The only voice I really like in this is the guy who plays Czolgosz. I'm OK with a few others, but it's not nearly as good as the 1991 Original Cast. I liked Victor Garber much better than the Booth in this.

I agree. Though I don't really like Barbour as much as I liked Terence Mann. The Gun Song... Barbour nailed anger, but I didn't really feel sorry for him the way I did with Mann.

Omg! I ADORE michael cerveris. It's like he can play these characters, but he still makes you love them. I do love victor garber, but once I saw Michael in Sweeney Todd, I have just loved him! I think he did an excellent job as Booth!

Yes, Micheal Cerveris is the first one to sing, John Wilkes Booth. He won a Tony for that role, actually.

Michael won as best supporting actor and the show won for best revival of a musical. I unfortunately don't have the Ballads, I remember that I saw tha Ballad of Booth on youtube, but I think that the owner removed the video :(
