  • it says 5min later I THINK IT TOOK YOU 2 hours to CONNECT ALL THE WIRES lol

  • is the frame rat on that deck faster then your cam?

  • wat car is it?

  • The country song was "I'm still a guy" by Brad Paisley

  • screw the song on his ipod what was the coutnry song?

  • nice vid man, i went all out and got a pioneer GPS/Headunit one for 1,800 fully loaded hope it gets here soon.

  • Why open from the bottom ? LOL

  • clarion roxx

  • dont you have to pay for songs with an ipod?

  • is the Kenwood Excelon KDC-X993 better than the CDA 9886 Alpine or no?

im wondering which one to get?

  • Oh yeah forgot the whole point of my original post. I got the same radio for Christmas and I love it, but there is a high pitched noise coming from the head unit. Not through the speakers, from the actual head unit itself. If you fold the face down the sound goes away. And it may only do it when in iPod mode, but the shit is annoying. You can't really hear it when the music is up, but if it's low you can. Any ideas?

  • i have this deck, your ipod cable might be broken

  • Uhhh you should probably advise other people to use butt connectors instead of electrical tape. Or butt connectors AND electrical tape. Or maybe you did use butt connectors but they are covered with electrical tape so I can't see it. I'm really high so it could be any of the previously mentioned. But yeah I'm not saying electrical tape won't work, but I would use it only if there was no way I could get any butt connectors or crimp caps.

  • if he was smart he soldered the connections, that is the best way to wire a deck

  • Haha what was the song you played off your ipod?

  • @s1acker69

    pain by three days grace

  • pain- three days grace

  • whats the make model and year of your car

  • good video, nice

  • Hey, thanks for the awesome vid.

Did you buy the wiring harness separately or did it come with head unit?

    I have '04 Corolla.

  • everything besides the case to make the cda9886 mold to your car's factory spot comes with it.

  • ONLINECARSTEREO IS A RIP-OFF!

  • how so?

  • They sell broken equipment, then say they have to send it to be repaired. I called the manufacture of the equipment and was told " We dont repair that item,we simply replace it." That was back on Oct 22 2009. Have not heard anything but bullshit from onlinecarstereo. Im just posting this to give people the heads up on where they should not by equipment.

  • Well thank you, I was planning on buying some audio equipment because of the prices, but i'll avoid that. Worth the extra money

  • im not worried about wiring and shit i can do that, but for the dash, does it all have to come out or can i just take out the old stereo?

  • ya so ..ive installed many decks before..i got the alpine idax100..mp3 deck..regular harness ...in a 94 civic..now i got my black to black...red and yellow to red and yellow...still got nothin tho...cannot figure it out..allthough wen i take my deck to my extra battery..ground it to nagitve..and run both yellow and red to positive it works...but it wont in the car..i just took a clarion deck out that was working..and wanted to add the alpine..but it will not get power..n e one kno y please pm me

  • you showed about 3 mins of this mothafucka screwing in a harness then SKIP all the wiring FUUUUCCCKKKK... excuse my frustation

  • lol i thought sane thing

  • @efeks it's not hard, see first you buy a wiring harness for your model car. and then its as easy as connecting the red wire to the red wire, the blue striped wire to the blue striped wire, etc. DISCONNECT YOUR BATTERY of course.

  • Do you really have to use an Imprint Module to really get the full potential of this deck? Cause when I'm browseing through it I don't see the EQ preset sound like "Pop, Rock, Rap, Electric, ect" like that.

  • hey! you ever think of using the ipods computer cable through the usb connection??? i have the same deck but never tried it, maybe you could control it from the ipod instead??? possibly??? lol

  • Made in China ! Fail !

  • dude its an awesome deck, i have a jensen 7" dvd deck and i hated it i drive mostly daytime and i can't see shit on it even too switch the song

  • how much was this?

  • Good job, man, but exactly the most dificult part, the cable´s installation, you don´t show... :(

  • is your deck defected? with that static look on the screen? i hope mine dont look like thAT. i just ordered it.

  • its the camrea lens isnt fast enough to get a clear..ugh just look it up i cant think now...

  • shutter speed haha

  • there u go lol

  • This was a really good video but the reason I came here is to see how to do the wiring harness with a new one and you guys kinda skipped that and showed the aftermath of the connecting of the harness.

  • learn how to open a box dummy

  • I have this hu and its awesome. The ipod use is so much better than my old alpine.

  • Did you guys not remove the negative terminal on your battery and everything worked out fine?

  • you dont need to do that bullshit if you know how to keep your wires clean and not touch your 12v power line to the ground on the decks chassis.

  • I have a Alpine CDA-9887 and I love it!

  • Pain - 3 Days Grace

  • true, but if the bit rate is the same on both the cd and the ipod, the ipod will have the advantage

  • Comment removed

  • "it sounds just like a cd..."

    actually it should sound better.

  • Comment removed

  • Yo, pretty good stuff... but i wish you showed how to get the trim off.. lol. I have no idea how to. GJ though

  • What kind of car you have?

  • Comment removed

  • lol he said "ill show you what else came in the box" right before he showed the cable.

  • by the way you joined one year ago today, also my birthday which is why i got one, thanxs for the upload

  • Cool vid. I'm thinking of buying an Alpine CDA-105 head unit from Crutchfield for like $186. I'm glad you made this vid, it looks like it's not all that hard to replace to stock unit with an aftermarket one. I'll be buying Alpine speakers also to go along with it, the factory ones I have are crap! I was thinking of Alpine SPS-600's. I need some good sounds in my Jeep, LOL.

  • The Tuner is horrible... I have this exact deck with a good antenna and it sucks bad. I never listen to the crappy stations here where I live anyway. NEVER twist your wires together and tape them like these guys did. Your asking for major problems. He might have done it good, and it might still work, BUT, I bet problems will happen for the majority...

  • nice Radio!!! but I hope your tape on your connection will last and it wont melt and your wires wont get shorted....

  • Anyone know how to change the power button,band/ta button and fastforward/rewind button colour on the alpine cde-102ri, accordin to the manual there are 4 lighting options, just need to figure out how to change it from the default setting of blue.

  • i put a alpine similar to yours in my truck to replace the audiovox casset player it had...after we wired it up and everything im not able to go passed 17 on the volume which isnt to loud. after it hits 17 depending on the song the whole system shuts off and reboots to 0 on the volume...any ideas what that could be?

  • Nice. I am looking for a new Alpine head unit and this helped a bit.

PS: Im from akron as well, cool.

  • How much u pay at best buy? i got the same head unit and i paid 150$.

  • at the time, I paid $299+tax for it... honestly, I'd hope the price would have come down by now considering the 9886 has been out for almost two years (I'd say $150 is a good deal).

  • how long ago did you buy it? and do u know what the newest model # is?

  • @yota187 were did u get yours? i like this head unit

  • @yota187 my bro bought one for his Porsche like 2 months ago for 150 now i cant find it for under 350

  • @yota187 i just picked one up in the box for $90.00

  • kool head unit man

  • did you system sound clearer with the deck upgrade

  • well how do u saudr the wires and like connect them to the plastic thing and if u can get like a converter or something

  • Man I like seeing thing unpackaged

  • *Electronics unpackaged

  • Josiah & Adam = Alfred & Adam B.! (Josiah/Alfred films, while Adam/Adam B. does the actual installation :P) Am I right??? This video reminded me somewhat of "Holiday Hardware Hacking." Watch those and compare to this to see the similarities.

    -Mike

  • really... because I have a stereo?

  • obviously that guys brain is non existant

  • Indeed

  • Yup, i sense big DOOSH in the building. Most definetly its SuperYu2

  • thanks for skipping all the wire connections....

  • whats hard about matching colors?

  • my first car is about to be a ford ranger. Its radio/cassete player is crap lol. I want to install a new one like this one. But my current radio is like 4 inches in height, these are around 2 inches. What do i do with the extra space? is it open and expose cords?

  • depending on where you buy your head unit, they'll usually look up your vehicle and recommend a mounting bracket/plastic spacer that will fill the "extra space" and allow it to fit snugly into your dash... luckly for me, this head unit fit directly into the space in my dash, but if you've got extra space on the top/bottom, I'd definitely buy a mounting bracket/spacer (in most cases they're a one-size-fits-all deal that you can adjust based on how much space you need to fill).

  • nice, thx man

  • Just a couple pointers for the next time. I hope your friend didnt just tape the wires together. Next time solder or use butts, and butt all of the wire even if your not useing it. You got alot of wires just hang and if they hit metal or another wire you got a problem. Also zip tie the harness on each side of where the wires connect. This relieves tension so the wires stay butted properly and prevents them from snagging. Not to be an asshole, but your buddy did a half ass job

  • @mwolverine8 hey buddy i got a ranger there is 2 ways you can doy this you can do it proper and spend money and get a dash istall kit and what your talking about is double din get that plate or you can get thin board put carpet or leather and do that or plastic my firebird i had i did the wood and cut a hole out and slid my radion into it it looked good but that was when i was 15 and i just got it at a police auction but i wrapped it in carpet i got at walmart it looked good i got a ranger

  • Does the headunit effect the sound qualityy of the music nd if so in what way -thx--

  • in general, you'll get the most accurate sound out of the higher quality head units (Alpine, Kenwood, Pioneer), but the differences in sound quality will be minimal unless you use an amp.

  • Which has better sound quality, alpine or kenwood? and y

  • both are actually very high quality brands from a head unit standpoint, though from what I've read you'll get slightly better sound quality out of a stock Kenwood HU... to be honest, I've had experience with both, and I can't tell a difference in sound quality.

  • alpine fo sho.

    kenwood are not as good

  • To me Pioneer kicks everyone's ass in terms of sound quality and I'm sure a lot of critics agree.

  • Asking which brand is better is like trying to figure out if Chevy is better than Ford. People will have their personal opinions, but the Focus and Cobalt are pretty much the same.

I've heard lots of good things about Eclipse decks, but they're certainly not the only option. If you're looking for good SQ from a head unit, find one with a good equalizer and at least 5 volt outputs for the RCAs. (Some decks have eight). Stay away from Jensen, Dual, Lightening Audio and SonyXplod.

  • thanks dude that vid will probably help me when i get my new alpine unit it should come tom.

  • that not very good work with the wires with tape. bullets make a clean and better work

  • you're right, we probably should've picked up some "bullets" on the way back (you mean the plastic electrical caps, right?)... oh well, we both made sure all the connections were insulated, and I haven't had any problems with it yet, so I think it turned out okay :). good tip, though!

  • yes with tape works the same too. but bullets are more clean work:) nice video

  • Twist and tape will be alright, but it is better to crimp them. I'd be more worried about not bundling those wires together with a cable tie. Looks like they could catch on something inside the dash.

  • how much did it cost you

  • props on a great video man niiicceee

  • thanks for the comment, glad you enjoyed it...

  • why are you hating on what music OTHER people listen to? lol dude get a fucking life

  • country ain't all that bad, really. you hear a lot of rock, blues, folk, and gospel (both black and white) in it. Modern country is liek a melting pot of music.

  • agreed... I prefer to listen to other styles of music, but there's still quite a bit of it that I enjoy listening to. I think most people who hate on country are afraid of being seen associating with the demographic that usually listen to it (since the music itself really isn't all that bad :)).

  • Could you tell me what adapter you used to plug in your Ipod? I bought an Auxiliary cable but I liked yours better because it looks like it charges the IPOD and has USB.

What is the brand and model#?

  • it's actually the connector cable that comes standard with the 9886... not sure of where you could buy one by itself,.

  • Thanks. I have the CDA-7894. I guess I have to buy a KCA-121B adapter. Let me know if anyone has any other suggestions using the auxiliary port.

  • I would, just to be safe... since the original car was a different brand than your new car, there's a good chance the wiring will be slightly different.

you should only have to strip a very small amount off the end of each wire on the head unit end, and usually then it's just a matter of matching the wire colors and making sure the connections are wrapped with electrical tape... let me know how it goes.

  • i have the Alpine CDA 9884. my cousin's friend came from out of town last year and installed it into my honda accord. i had no idea what he did but he made it work. the honda got totaled and i took out the head unit but i didn't realize i left the wire harness in the honda. i'm gonna get a new one off of ebay and install the head unit in my new car '99 toyota solara. my question is do i have to cut the wires from the toyota's wiring and connect them with the wire harness from the receiver?
