The children are only part Irish. Like all Americans, they are a mix of many European nationalities including Irish, Scottish, English, German, Check, Norwegian, Polish, and possibly Russian.

On their father side they are part Scotch Irish. The first Willis ancestors came to the US in the early 1600s. They were some of the first off the boat in Jamestown. In fact, all the Willis boys have Scott as their middle name. So that is why they are wearing Scottish or English tartans.
