  • so i just picked up a condenser microphone and it won't work with my regular mic cable, is there anything else i need? or special cables?

  • @metalmusician68 mm phantom power?

  • @metalmusician68 what do you mean??

  • Very informative. I recently got a condenser mic for vocals and I was using it completely wrong! ;-)

  • Question: what's the point of putting the mic upside down? If I have a normal stand with no cradle, is the top-up position OK?

  • @MoneymanMSK they used to set it upside-down because of valve mics. So that the heat would go up, and not warm up the capsule too much. Now, even without a valve mic, upside down configuration can get the cable out of the way, but is not "needed" anymore.

  • do I need two condensor microphones if I am singing and playing the guitar?

How many mics do I need if I have one person singing and a person playing the guitar next to them? Thanks :)

  • what mic. if i do guitar while have vocal.??

  • Proximity effect is a function of how directional the mic is and how large the capsule is. It has nothing to do with being a condenser/ribbon/dynamic etc.

  • Do i need a power suply for usb condenser mics?

  • @OrionSimm no you dont., i have one and the usb is the power supply

  • @tntdetonates thanks man. Appreciate the vid also

  • I was hoping you could help. I've just bought an AT2020 USB Condenser Mic for VO at home, unfortunately it is picking up alot more unwanted noise thaN I expected. Is there any way to shorten the range of the mic so that it only picks up my vocals right next to the mic? Any help greatfully received

  • @saulmarron try a noise gate it will trigger on the mic when you sing into it. you can adjust the noisegate to trigger the mic on when you want to sing. being that your voice will be louder than the backround noise it will only rec when you sing into it experiment with it it should work well

  • race - so it could have a better title, it's a 2 min clip, what did you ex pect? ...chill ... and wtf does "meat" mean, simpleton?

  • Not true at all. I dont mean to pick on this guy, but consenders have a proximity effect as well. The polar pattern has more influence on how much proximity affects the bass response. Omni has the least affect progressively to hyper-cardioid having the most. DJs often use the standard EV

RE20 which IS a dynamic mic but its known for having very little "virtually no" proximity effect. Want more Bass? Use a tighter polar pattern and move the mic closer, each to taste. Its better than eq.

  • @TheProgmagog I agree, it has more to do with polar pattern and yes, try moving your mic around before reaching for your eq and effects plugs :)

  • @TheProgmagog You're right about the proximity effect. This guy doesn't know what he's talking about. The only way to "almost" get rid of the proximity effect is to set a multipattern to "omni".

  • u didnot tell me how to use the microphone - meat
