  • @metalscan55 I see what you did there... ;)

  • I think Rotting Christ's drummer uses this a lot, I remember hearing it on Theogonia!

  • Wait isn't that just called a triplet blast?

  • @schwarg it has many names. ;)

  • Just like practicefromgermany its cool to know i tought this myself :) thanks for info though

  • now i realize that I've taught all this myself, without knowing about it =D

  • Cool, I been plain guitar for years n wanted to get into drumming so this is sick

  • Hey man good easy blast I appreciate the lesson but if anyone is interested I'm in an up and coming band called "Animal Fury" were cannibal corpse type band we have songs posted so check us out.

  • great tutorial!

  • like doin triplets between your snare and bass drum?

  • @enokzoza exactly.. that's pretty much it.

  • LOL.. DERP ..

    you're such a brutal drummer ^.^

  • you help alot dude!

  • Sounds groovy, like a beat in a Lamb of God song :D

  • Hey man, i watch these videos to take what you do and make it my own, I have been playing for 5 years I joined a metal band a while ago but am not a metal drummer so these beginner videos really help me, thank you :D

  • do you have any vids on exercises that can keep your left hand up to par?

  • @rohanpogi i can make one for ya haha!

  • @nx2overide really? awesome. will you though? haha

  • hey man ,thanks for the upload..i have just started learning my new double bass pedal..how long would it take to get me where you are here right now?? thanks in advance.

  • @pkrishnametal oh and i am 29 ..so is it too late??

  • hardcore and punk too. This is very helpful.

  • are those vic firth steve gadd signature sticks hes usin

  • @MrJordan707 You cut me down I must confess but in your mouth my Dick will rest..lol

  • @nx2overide lmfaoo

  • @nx2overide ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

you just told him stop dick riding lol

  • all you have to do is play a song by slayer. any song in reign in blood or hell awaits album, and cover that song for about 6 months to perfection and you will get that beat down. at least it took me 6 months just handle that beat at 220 bpm.

  • this beat is more for thrash than death metal

  • 1:29 WIN

  • can anyone explain to me if its triples on the feet or doubles?

  • @tommyXBOX360 Doubles, brah. Snare-kick-kick-snare-kick-kick

  • @pissantparade Sounds pretty easy then, I thought it were triples on the base, that would be more difficult.

  • jesus is playing drums

  • sweet I finally know what the fuck this is I've been doing it for a wile just had no damn clue what it was lol. guitar is my main thing, drummers don't chastize me

  • As someone who has previous experience playing drums (a few years back), I really like your informative videos. Makes me want to get back to playing.

  • nice snare

  • Hahaha slowmo FTW! :)

  • OHHH!!! this is what i have been playing in my band. I didnt know what to call it. The cyclone-blast ayee. 123 123 123 123 123 123

  • Cool! So that's what that beat is called. It's just repeated triplets, where the first note is snare/hi-hat and the second and third notes are bass hits.

  • this video is great, thanks nx2 !

  • Hey!! susyownsyou!! dont yell at jesus

  • I never actually liked the sound of the two intermittent hits, so i always play triplets, but to each his own right?

  • downbeat gallop

  • @blastbeatingjerk666 yep it has many names but all in all a great beat!

  • When I hear/play triplets, I hear "tri-pull-it, tri-pull-it, tri-pull-it" ... Anyone else?

  • @Superbradman1 That's what I was taught on drumline, actually.

  • @Okami2308 haha I think Jesus is totally into some good metal

  • We, metalheads make the coolest names up for random stuff.

  • This guy is my hero. I think its hilarious how people complain and he just goes after them haha. To all the negative commenters, just stop. Its for your sake I say this haha.

PS: If you don't like the videos, then make your own or leave the damn video!

  • I appreciate him taking the time to try and teach everybody something.

  • Best example : Sepultura - Arise

  • how do you make ur snare sound so good? :>

  • u could cross stick

  • Biffy clryo lead singer???

  • It's jesus!!!! The second coming!!!! Wait..... Isn't it ironic that he plays metal???

  • Are the hands sticking with the feet at any time?

  • @Susyownsyou no all the hits are independent. "with the exception of the hi-hat.. and it can be played on the snare hits, on the kick hits, or in-between."

  • @nx2overide Thanks man, you're awesome

  • about how long do you have to play to get those? skill level.

  • @1ManArmyOfDisease well it differs between people.. just keep at it you'll get it, as long as your having fun thats all that matters.

  • HEAVY FUCKIN METAL!!

  • never heard about that one! cool!

  • @CAGRIND It's a ruff, actually. A ruff that is divided between the kick and the snare/high-hat. "Cyclone Blast" IS a fucking brutal name, though haha.

  • @nx2overide dude your face at 1:27 was like "yep, im raping my drumset. sooo, what do you plan to do about it?" haha!!!

  • are you doing the double kicks with one foot? doesn't look like you move your left foot oO

  • awesome video man :) good job and good explanation

  • Yeyy Dave grohl is back on the drums :P

  • what snare is that? (subscribed to you btw ;) )

  • I have a serious question for you. When you are playing are you playing the Cyclone Blast is it a triplet feel or a quad feel? In other words is it a triplet between the hands and the two bass drum beats or is it a straight feel of three sixteenth notes with a 16th rest? I listened to the slow recording and when it starts it sounds like triplets but when it ends it sounds like it is 16ths. Please help, btw I think you did a great job! Thanks K

  • get a HAIRCUT :p

  • @darkholicz no u

  • So prettymuch its a flam on the kick drum, followed directly by a snare/hat hit

  • yayyy keep making videos!!! I cant wait to get my electric kit. love this beat, so easy and sounds fuckign sweet

  • nice i never even knew this was called a cyclone blast but i always do this, nice vid and good work

  • ahhh Ive been able to do the bass and snare for the cyclone blast for a while now but Ive only ever used it in fills... Never thought of putting it in a pattern, thanks nx2overide!

  • thnx bro i just joined a dethmetal band and i need 2 learn how 2 do blast beats and this realy helps alot..........stay(sic)

  • @underbass35 If your considering your 'sic' slipknot cover band deathmetal, you need to die.

  • I always want to do skank beat, yet i can't coordinate the get the hats on both the bass and snare hits.. i can only play it with hats on snare...its not speed as an issue but just coordination.. Any tips?

  • @SputniksArmy Shit i maen i can only play hats on bass, snare snare is by itself..

so its basically '1 + 2 + 3 + 4 +'. and bass drum and cymbal hand plays on all the numbers - the snare plays on all the '+' notes.

  • lolz slow motion. cool stuff man =)

  • that was really helpful... gone are the days of having to pass 200bpm on the double bass.

  • those steve gadd sticks

  • @TheCompulsionToKill yes they are.. awesome sticks!!

  • @nx2overide yeah they are, gotta a few pairs of em myself

  • @nx2overide haha i use those too bro

  • @nx2overide i have 13 pairs of those sticks, vic firth for life xD

  • @redeye998 How about you progressively pack your drums up and send them to someone who actually wants to learn how to play instead of thinking they now everything?

  • @nx2overide lmfaoooo

  • @nx2overide never heard that called the cyclone blast before. Really awesome beat for the young thrashers out there to learn. Well done brotha.

  • @redeye998 Dota pro hahahaha

  • @redeye998 dumbass

  • @redeye998 As far as I'm aware, the concept of drumming had no rules, as with ALL MUSIC. From what I can see, he is hitting the drums with sticks, so, he IS drumming.

  • @MorkaGraven Finally!! A “real” musician who gets it....You rock MorkaGraven! Drums have no restrictions or boundaries. Dudes probably a theory geek... Not saying theory isn’t good sometimes people think it’s the be all end all of drumming or music... But it’s called theory for a reason. Most of the theory geeks don’t become really good musicians. They reach a point and that’s it, because they can’t think outside of the box..

  • @nx2overide Real musician? I guess I am, although I'm a terrible performer. Performing doesn't fit my personality well.

  • @redeye998 u try this

  • @redeye998 Blast beating is deathmetal/Deathcore music style genre so why would you even look this up if you dont even like one of those genres.

  • @MrZakkyyy Don't forget grindcore.

  • @redeye998 Listen to metal.

  • @redeye998 I know this is a video about a specific style of drumming.

I never told that I dislike that style... In other hand i like it!

But look at this guy who plays that... No feeling... No toughness... He just made a video showing that he is hitting some drums... He's bored with drums... I dislike that, not the drumming...

Thank you for all the "Negative" comments, i still like progressive metal better.

  • the cyclone blast is just a triplet

  • @SuperFairyHamster Yep... kick kick snare.. repeat.

  • @nx2overide Hey, any advice for one bass pedal?

  • @SuperFairyHamster Thank you.

  • i thought a skank beat was a base drum on the down beat and snare on the up beat..

  • @DavidChoiDrumz Yep you can play a skank like that too.. its transferable... just rmember you can fuck around with all types of Skanks just use protection so you dont get aids. hehe

  • i guess Cannibal Corpse would be the dudes who started getting that type of beat popular.

  • i still don't get it,Skank and Blast are almost the same....that's all?

  • is this also like possessed drumming? on album seven churches

  • @xicidarxi yes it is.. you got it.

  • you're a champ man, thank you.

  • Shave your beard and get a job.

  • @nolanb21 no thanks i have a job..

  • @nx2overide Gamestop, right?

  • @nolanb21 haha no im a network manager i work on servers.. when im not fucking your mom.

  • @nx2overide Keep the beard and play drums (y)

  • What kind of sticks do you have and how much is it?

  • @TheFaghater vic firth steve gadd signature nylon tip around 9 bux a pair.

  • @nx2overide ohh really cheap 5ab is the size right?

  • @TheFaghater yep i do believe so.. great sticks

  • Hey dude nice video, but i have a question I need to figure out.. I have a 16" Wuhan China not sure how big yours is not that that really matters but you know how wuhan has that funky bell thing? when I mount it bell down like how you have yours mounted it doesn't feel right when I hit it like that even though that's how your suppose to put most China cymbals on a stand when I put it with the bell up it feels more right but I feel like I could dent it faster I'm not sure what to do..

  • @Lazyboy51 sorry for the delay look in to a spring mount.. it will help i use one.

  • You look like Charles Manson.

  • is that you jesus?

  • @bluefAng LOL

  • Thanks for teaching!

    And i swear i WILL keep it metal! \m/ -.- \m/

  • haha, i use the same sticks your using in this vid.

good vid by the way, should record some improv

  • me too bro! vic firth FTW

  • Cool setup bro, I like blastbeats myself they are fun haha

  • ive been doing these both for ages without realising this is what they were, i was just speeding up the basics XD

  • Pretty basic stuff. Doubles on the hihat would be nice.

  • what china is that?

  • a wuhan

  • do they last long? iv heard that they crack easily...i really like the sound of it though

  • they last pretty good actually.. i break one about every year and a half but I use it a "lot" cause I love it. and i do a lot of touring so it takes a beating at 2 practices a week plus 2 to 4 shows a month.. but for a 20in for 50 bux compared to me breaking a zildjian china every 2 years.. cant beat it. I think wuhan chinas sound better than any other china too

  • @nx2overide what band are you in

  • do you hit the snare and the hi hat at the same time?

  • you can or you can alternate.. there is not a wrong way to do it.. a blast is a blast. Just do it the way it feels comfortable.. then work on alternating.

  • Good video. These are simple beats to begin with but they sound cool

  • how can i afford all those cymbals and crap? im a beginner but i need new cymbals.. lol

  • Ahhh! 666 viewer ...I am so fucking evil!

  • LOL That you are my friend. :)

  • thanks for the video, it helped me alot

  • nice playing!

  • veeery nice :D

  • What I like about your videos is you are always helpful and willing to share what you know. That's probably why so many YouTuber's mention you in their videos. Rock on. . . . . .

  • do you know the original surfer beat for those who like fifties rock?

  • i think i just busted a nut

  • You make me want to get a kit.

  • when you run it in slo mo it sounds like terrible noise :)

  • @americas1stborn yep its meant to be played as fast as you can physically.

  • That's cool. It must be hard to keep that running for a long time! :-)

  • you need a quadruple Bass peddle

  • @satanicinternational eg dual Sonor Giant Step Trick pedals (Duallists suck and aren't very genuine... I used to have one)

  • JAJA I was joking

  • I love playing drums, but I'm vox/ guitar in my melvins-esq band

  • Good Video!!!

  • Nice kit

  • Cool stuff

  • Cool I'm gonna try that out. Haven't used my double bass pedal in awhile

  • can you make videos 4 iron maiden guitar solos and intro and stuff like that plz ?

  • Hmmm, very interesting. It looked like you were looking beside the camera instead of at the lens. lol. That darn flip-around screen on the camera catches my attention sometimes too. haha.

You should definitely think about giving private lessons! :-)

  • who gives the names to these moves?

  • I have no idea..lol

  • Cyclone blast all the way!

  • That was wicked. I especially liked the slo-mo. I am going to watch that part again one more time. *grins*

    - Heidi

  • Cool tutorial. Five stars from me

  • the skank beat sounds like something you'd here in og hardcore like black flag and minor threat.

the back and forth snare and bass sounds really siimilar.

  • Yep its funny cause its used in allot of old hardcore, punk rock, and metal.

  • Been playing some shows bro?I haven,t watched for a while.

  • Yep we just played a show with Between the Burried and me and Veil of Maya. That was awsome.. BTB is amazing live.
